Both parties have been guilty of not only allowing, but promoting executive excess. The parties in Congress have delegated many of their powers to the executive and have done so for decades. How else can Trump unilaterally impose tariffs without Congressional consent? Isn't Congress supposed to have the power of the purse? Well, it's because of statutory law enacted by Congress decades ago. How can the President unilaterally impose military force without declaration of war? Because of statutory law enacted by Congress decades ago.

This is the fault of Congress stretching back decades. It's not the fault of any one party, any one Congressional session, or any one person. Balance of power should be a very bi-partisan issue, but it isn't. When the Republicans have the balance of power, they don't mind executive excess. When the Democrats are in power, they don't mind executive excess. Neither party acts in the interest of people in the future. They all act in their very near term political interests. When those political interests are furthered by delegating power to the executive, they do it.

To blame the current president and current congress (or the previous president and previous congress) is quite short-sighted.
While the pendulum of government power has steadily swung in favour of the Executive Branch, Trump and his Administration don't represent the continuation of some historical trend.

There is no precedent whereby one political party has not only completely abdicated its constitutional oversight role, but in a span of a few years allowed one individual to hijack its agenda!

This President has said and done things that have taken America into totally uncharted territory!

Why do those corporations own liberal/socialist media outlets?

Because all humans are profitable - even, and especially the controversial ones. Opposition is controlled; there is money to be made on all sides of it.

We (the people) are the only ones naive enough to believe the illusions of choice we are given actually amount to freedom of choice. The world is a corporate entity with many different divisions (nations). It doesn't matter what "vector" it comes in; if it is marketable and profitable, it will be exploited. This even (and especially) includes thought-forms like racism, and religion.

You, yourself, are a product; someone besides you is making money off of you right now. The point of capitalism is corporatism - on a 1) small, and 2) then gargantuan scale. The oligarchy is happening before your eyes in the States; every quarter a company is merging with its competition.

My friend, you have a knack for stating the obvious. Do you honestly think people here are that ignorant? No, nothing in this world comes close to heaven for me. America was supposed to be utopia, not sure if it's that anymore. That's sad but not something that'll replace the Holy Spirit. It's truly sad for the vast majority of foreigners trying to flee hardship and some Americans alike.

You also forget that we are still in this world and have a responsibility in this world (Joseph 37:2-50:26, Nehemiah, Daniel, Jeremiah 29:7). Your eagerness to correct others belies your own spiritual immaturity (Romans 2:22). I suggest that you fully yield to the Holy Spirit, learn to divide the word of God correctly and in a balanced way first (2 Timothy 2:15). With your mindset, you're neither spiritual nor any earthly good. Keep reading and believing the Bible:). We'll talk later.
Actually the young brother may have a good point regarding America , truth and our emphasis on the American Dream . I am not able to fully comprehend how many from persecuted countries must cherish the American ideal of freedom . I do speak with immigrants that believe in God but LOVE America . It seems that America makes their eyes light up . This troubles me .
Our schools have one goal in mind . Prepare children for "success . " As it is against the law to instruct children in the ways of the Lord Jesus , it can only be earthly success . A man can not walk two directions at once .
As much as I am able , I try to observe whether things be for God or against God . It also appears that we are becoming more and more ungodly . ( Not a belief in God but in meekness , humility and lowliness of mind . More time involved in being entertained than in prayer . )
America was supposed to be utopia ? To who ? The Native Americans ? The enslaved blacks ? No , the truth is America was built by the wealthy since the impoverished and lowly have no influence . If the church is the body of Christ on earth , who would Jesus vote for ?

America was supposed to be utopia ?

Who said it was supposed to be a utopia? There is no utopia in this life.

America was "built" over a long period of time, by all sorts of people, from all sorts of places, and living in all sorts of circumstances. Your caricature of it being "built" by the "wealthy" is just that - a caricature. History isn't this nice, neat thing that can accurately be summed up in silly slogan sentences.

I suppose he would vote for himself since he said he had all authority on heaven and earth

By context, you (should) know what the person means. America is marketed as a place that caters to the refugee and oppressed of the world, giving them a safe haven for freedom and opportunity. That is utopia for most people; people don't need their hands held, they need direction and resources. America promises that, and a dream that you can fashion in your own image.

That is why many immigrants 1) get stuck in the States after realizing what they must do to attain this dream, 2) get stuck in the states after realizing the dream doesn't apply to them, 3) get stuck because the dream does work, but mainly for their progeny, or 4) leave the States, and return back to their home country, or another nation.

A caricature would be describing America as being built over a long period of time by all sorts of people from all sorts of places and living conditions. We know the history of America:

  • many of our great-grandfathers and great-great patriarchs used majority African slaves and Continental Natives to build the infrastructure of America. That is why it is failing now - forced slavery is illegal, and in a corporate society where no forced labor slaves exist, it is less costly to maintain something that isn't broken.
  • America was founded in 1776 - only 243 years of age - hardly a baby in terms of history, and in terms of an empire. But, Columbians still had African and Native slaves as if they were owed them centuries before America existed. (by religious and economic justification.) Heck, America even went to Japanese internment.
  • The Columbians committed a near genocide of continental Natives in order to "manifest destiny" - a declaration of entitlement to lands for conquer.
  • Americans, even after being compelled to end slavery on paper, still tried to exploit, swindle and trap free men back into slavery. This is now accomplished by the PIC
We aren't even talking about what they did to those slaves, and those natives murdered - just because of a misplaced superiority complex, and an ideological justification for their spiritual disdain of African and Native people.

If the church is the body of Christ on earth , who would Jesus vote for ?

I suppose he would vote for himself since he said he had all authority on heaven and earth.

Maybe the person meant this:

I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? - Luke 18:8
If you love the world, you hate the Redeemer, because this world, especially, is a shadow of the thing that He has for us. We worship this place, we are lost. We like this plane of existence, we are blind. With the murder, rapes, slavery, genocide, lies, sexualizing of children... choosing to love or even like this plane of existence categorically means you have to ignore all of the negativity stuff we as humans are supposed to fight against.

IMO, Jesus wouldn't vote for anybody (neither do I as I'm yet to find a politician who's a true replica of Christ. I do support genuine causes from all sides in this life, as it's my responsibility). America was never perfect, but better than most and hence almost a utopia (but definitely not heaven and shall never be) . That's what I tried telling that young man and now you. Peace in Christ.
