At the very least, I hope that the Republicans in 2020 will make as a leading campaign issue the fact that the opposition spent four years accomplishing nothing in Congress, even after the voters gave them, in 2018, a majority in the House of Representatives.

I'm sure that'll convince many Republicans to never vote Democrat again.

Absolutely. Republicans had the House, Senate, and Presidency for 2 years and couldn't do a thing with health care reform. The lack of accomplishments the last 3 years should be a major campaign issue.

Couldn't pass health care reform, yes, but I was referring to much more than one piece of legislation.

Beyond that, however, I am not displeased to have the liberals not realize that the Democrats are poised to have the chickens come home to roost. It's mainly a question of whether or not the Republicans will be smart enough to take advantage of the opportunity and make the issue a point of emphasis in their campaigning.

The Republicans spent 8 years on obstruction, and went on to win the Presidency in 2016. Somehow, those on the right now claim that obstruction is a policy with grievous political ramifications.

You may believe your own noise, but tour argument isn't compelling in the least.

I am hopeful that the liberals will not only think that but will also say it...all the time.

But it also takes the Republicans to capitalize on it. I'm not sure they are smart enough to do so.

How does that math work? Republicans had the White House and both houses of congress for 2017-2018. For 2019-2020, Dems only have the House. If Congress accomplished nothing, it's still mostly the fault of the Republicans.

I am hopeful that the liberals will not only think that but will also say it...all the time.

So, what you're saying is that Republicans voters value obstinance and obstruction while Democratic voters value effective governance.

I think we may have found something on which we agree.

I re-read your earlier posts and on top of your aforementioned bad math, I still don't really know what point you were making or how my interpretation of it was wrong.

2018 to 2020 = 4 years must be republican math.
The extra two years trickled down.

Barbara MCQuade, former US attorney, was a good witness.
Former U.S. Attorney Tells Congress Trump Committed ‘Multiple Crimes’

The most significant finding in the Special Counsel’s Report is that Russia interfered with our election in “sweeping and systematic fashion.”

Through that lens, I will share 2 observations about the report—

What happened and why it matters.

First, the conduct described in the report constitutes multiple crimes of obstruction of justice, supported by evidence of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

If anyone other than a sitting president had committed this conduct, I am confident that he would be charged with crimes.

One thousand former federal prosecutors signed a letter agreeing that the president committed crimes.

Second, why it matters.

The obstruction described in the report created a risk to our national security because it was designed to prevent investigators from learning all of the facts about an attack on our country by a hostile foreign adversary.

Let me explain each of those observations.
She goes on to support her statement.

Quote: Since getting out, he’s made a living playing moral paragon: Team Trump’s supposed evils are at least the third time he’s talked of a presidency being “worse than Watergate.”

The NYPost editorial had it right on the button. The ludicrous scene of John Dean, of all people, being brought in to give his usual speech that is based upon no personal experience with the Trump-Mueller situation can mean nothing other than that there is nothing of real substance that they can turn to.

Oh, there is plenty per the Mueller report. The problem is the defiance of subpoenas, but that will not last forever.

Democrats Push New Strategy For Enforcing Russia Subpoenas | HuffPost

Democrats are pushing a resolution through the House Tuesday that would make it easier to sue President Donald Trump’s administration and potential witnesses, paving the way for legal action against those who defy subpoenas in Congress’ Russia probe and other investigations.

The House resolution would authorize lawsuits against Attorney General William Barr and former White House counsel Don McGahn for defying subpoenas pertaining to special counsel Robert Mueller’s report . It also would empower committee chairmen to take legal action to enforce subpoenas without a vote of the full House, as long as they have approval from a bipartisan group of House leaders.

The DOJ has given in to providing key underlying documents that the House Judiciary Committee wanted. Barr, apparently, did not want to be charged with contempt.

There is way more to obstruction, and a simple statement of innocence is not really of concern.

Let, see- Trump asked McGahn to fire Mueller.
When McGahn would not, Trump asked him to deny reports of the order and to create a false document about it.
Then there are things like trying to persuade Sessions to change his recusal to not recusing himself (using other folks like Lewendowski). And then he wanted Sessions to make the Russia investigation on future elections only.
And then there is asking Comey to drop the Flynn investigation.

that is a start.
