We have millions of workers that were 'needed' initially only to be laid off or fired once these businesses were up and running, or outsourced. Now many have to settle for a low paid part time job just to survive.

Why do you blame that on immigration?

This article (which is not NYT editorial, but contribution of one of their range of opinion writers) suggests that the current peak in migration may indeed be to some extent a creation of Trump's rhetoric and backing off of aid. Opinion | This Teenager Knows a Secret to Slowing Guatemalan Migration

I have to say that the increase is odd. As far as I know conditions in Central America have not suddenly gotten worse. The biggest change seems to be Trump's policies. You've got to wonder whether they're relevant.

You yourself said things are not worse there, so why blame trump for something that didnt happen?

The most visible changes in the immigration system are changes in US policy and its execution. It's not unreasonable to suspect that the change in results are due to that.

Let me give an example of unintended consequences. When gun regulation is being seriously discussed, purchases of guns go up. It's partly that people want to get them before they're outlawed and partly making people think about guns. The article suggests that something like this, and less hope for improvement among people in Central America (due to actual and threatened cuts in aid) could result in an increase like what we're seeing.

Unintended consequences of policies are all too common.

No, no you didn’t. There was an unsubstantiated source from an organization that is blatantly biased against the President.

Just so we're clear -- are you insinuating that the source lied to the NYT, or that the NYT fabricated the story out of whole cloth?

I’m still surprised he’s not implementing everify. That might actually have an effect. The cynical side of me says he doesn’t want to solve the problem, but to exploit it politically. Hence he won’t do anything that would actually reduce immigration.

He doesn't want to solve the problem.

Just so we are crystal clear, beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I don’t believe unsubstantiated reports from anonymous sources about a secret meeting that is unverifiable provided from a source that is extremely biased towards an individual

Hope that clarifies.

He doesn't consider it a problem. As a businessman, it's a source of labor.

As a politician, it's a dog whistle to rally the base.

What problem?

I knew all this already -- I'm asking what specifically your complaint is:

Do you think they didn't bother to fact-check their source, or do you believe there is no source?

I don’t have a complain, it is an easy to understand statement, I don’t have the ability to make it plainer.

Sort of like socialism is a dog whistle to the left.

No, that's the Right's dog whistle -- they can never have too many boogeymen.

You have the ability; you lack the desire.

Do you think the NYT had a source: yes or no?

Do you think there was proof that it was the President’s fault that the Boeing planes crashed.
