That all sounds so beautiful, I am in Victoria, Australia and am currently in Autumn. Because of the way the weather has changed only the very hardiest plants survive. For me so long as I can keep the trees alive is an achievement after Summers here. I remember our garden before the weather pattern changed permanently and our garden was a cottage garden with foxgloves, hollyhocks, roses, cornflowers, daffodils of many kinds, jonquils, tulips, snowdrops, multiple daisies, sweetpeas, etc in Spring. There wasn't a time that we didn't have fresh flowers in the house.

For around the last twenty years after brutal droughts, it has all changed. The only flowers I have now are daisies, geraniums (in pots) and petunias (in pots). I concentrate on hardy shrubs and keeping the trees going.
The sun is so harsh now that my one surviving rose, when it does bloom, the petals burn and dry. Even the geraniums burn in the Summer and they are not in full sun.

Still we finally have had some rain over the last few weeks and I am so happy to see green emerge where you would think no grass would ever grow again and what garden I do have seems to have heaved a sigh of relief!

I like geraniums and petunias. Occasionally we have summer droughts and not all of the farmers have irrigation systems.

Last month I didn't think it would ever stop raining. The farmers couldn't even plant. A week ago it started raining and we had hail that filled the town with green maple leaves all over our lawns and streets.

The plants are beginning to flower now. The snails are enjoying the leaves though! :D

OOPS! I heard that pebbles keep snails away, but can't verify.

My hummingbird attractions (supposedly) --- I put out a feeder this year in addition to the flowers. So I looked at my feeder today: a wasp was trying it out and so was a butterfly. I'm going to take it down.

SOAKED! And covered with sprouting cottonwood seeds. And my ‎zonal geraniums (pelargonium) are so sad that I moved them to my little porch!

Sorry you have had so much rain Phoebe Ann.

I've finished the troughs and hanging baskets, and most are flowering now. Most of my neighbours have done theirs too so the whole area looks quite pretty.

Here it is almost July and we have a severe thunderstorm warning tonight! I've lived in this area since 1988. I don't remember having this much rain before. On [Sunday]Subday [strong]string winds destroyed a daycare an hour away. But thankfully no one was there.

No wonder this post was FUNNY! I didn't proofread it.

 They must have been strong! - glad no-one was hurt.
I bought a houseplant today: a pleated bird's nest fern. I never had one before.
I hope it does well Phoebe Ann. :)

I'm really pleased with how the garden looks at the moment. The petunias and busy lizzies are looking pretty, as well as the fuchsia and lavender. The hollyhock has shot up, despite being ruthlessly pruned back last autumn. Funny thing though - there is a small patch of soil yet to be planted, but no weeds have grown there.

 I'm happy about your flowers.

I hate nasty experiences! I went outside to check on my plants and saw two dead half eaten mice(?) covered with ants and flies nearby. I got my shovel to carry them to the woods and the head fell off in the driveway. The other one --- I don't know if it had a head or not. :sigh: Gardening is supposed to be fun.

Green green green after the rain we had on and off throughout winter. :) Rhododendrons and magnolias nearby are in full flower and look beautiful. The local trees are yet to leaf up, but that is something I look forward to every Spring.

Sounds beautiful js! :)

At the risk of boasting, my neighbours and I have decided that we've done well this year with our hanging baskets and pots/troughs which can be seen by all. They certainly show the beauty of God's creation. The next job will be planting bulbs.

Crocus flowering - purple and white - in the troughs and part of the communal area at the back. Otherwise it's all a bit soggy, but some neighbours have hanging baskets and their daffodils look beautiful.
