In another thread I was given the distinct impression that someone thought they were god and even sinless. but I was probably just reading the posts wrong, God knows my posts were being read wrong.

I see Jesus as my lord and righteousness. To say I am a God, means I've become my own righteousness, there's something wrong with that picture. The question raised was "is a Christian a sinner or a son of God?"
Let's let Jesus answer:
34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
So the question based on this verse is what did Jesus free us from? Another poster believes Jesus freed us from the law. So wasn't sin the reason for the law in the first place?
19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made.
Here is the prophecy in Daniel as to WHY the Messiah was coming. Does it say to bring an end to the law, or sin?
To finish the transgression,
To make an end of sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,
To bring in everlasting righteousness,
Many hate these scriptures but they are the word of God.
1 John 3:5-9
5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

It's not much different than what is taught in Wicca or the New Age movement.
That's because I'm a Christian who never stopped "seeking"I agree. I'm surprised that your profile says you're a "seeker." You seem like a lot more than that to me.
Somehow this statement doesn't actually connect to reality though ..Wow!
It is the seed of the Father in us that gives us the power to not sin. Jesus was conceived with it, and why He never sinned. We are born again of the Spirit with it. Only those who overcome sin will be saved. And we cannot overcome sin with our sin nature intact. That is why we have to be born again of the Spirit, and become new creatures in Christ, with new desires and power to not sin.

Not really, you're just reading the bible out of context. That's because it is a supernatural reality, not the carnal reality the world sees and knows.

I totally relate to the supernatural reality, but the one being described in your posts sounds like new age or wicca, using bible verses. It is a spiritual reality, which is a supernatural reality. You can't relate to that can you? Don't you know we are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if we have the Spirit of God in us, and if we don't have the Spirit of Christ, we don't even belong to Him?

When the gospel says "my sheep will hear my voice" - how do I put this? I don't hear the voice of the shepherd in your words.
Sure thing, then go pray so the world is fixed, the first priority is the poor. So we need to get that inflation going in a negative direction. (you know, so prices decrease) Now hop to it.Those who are born again hear His voice. God isn't just some character in a book, He is alive and I hear His voice. He tells me what to pray (called a Rhema) I pray His words and it is answered. John 15:7
Does overcoming sin mean you don’t sin anymore? From my understanding when a person overcomes a thing that means it is in the past. I’m just trying to understand if overcoming means something different when it comes to sin or does it mean overcome as in it’s in the past. ThanksWow!

Do you think people normally unknowingly sin or do we usually know that it was sin?We must be born again of the Spirit. The Spirit doesn't sin. 1 John 3:4 shows us what kind of sin John is addressing in chapter 3 - Lawlessness. That is known sin willfully committed. 1 John 5:16-17 shows us there are sins unto death - those would be the kind of sin in chapter 3 - known lawlessness. There is also sins NOT unto death. Those would be unknown sins unwittingly committed. 1 John 1:7 shows someone walking in the Spirit, but the blood is cleansing his sins. What kind? Does the Spirit commit known lawlessness? No, so it is trespasses (Leviticus 5:15). In the Old Testament there were no sacrifices that covered sins of lawlessness - against the laws of God, but there were sacrifices for unintentional sins. Numbers 15:22-36.

But you talked about willful sin. Can a believer sin willfully?A person not born again that lives with a fallen nature, does what comes naturally to him. He sins, and his conscience will either convict him or he can be so jadded that he has no feelings about it one way or the other.
A person born again of the Spirit has a super-sensitized conscience, and they know it is easy to live according to their new nature, that loves what God loves, and hates what God hates. It is the opposite of the old nature. They hate sin, so it is easy to not do what you hate.
