There is an aspect of " The joy of the lord"
That im surprised at times that more do not see.
I think i'v observed often enough to make it a valid observation, that people think this is some kind of emotion .
But though emotions are always effected , sometimes negatively ,sometimes positively they are NOT to be a ruling factor .
I encourage people to go back and look at those words..
" ...The Joy of the lord.."
Consider this english form ...and ask "whose Joy is it"?
Of course in essence when Nehemiah says " do not mourn for the Joy of the lord of the lord is your strength... He is saying God (the lord) is Joy .
The two aspects here are inseparable.
The Joy of the lord is when God is Joyful towards us
And he is joyful toward us when we are in Christ and when we are growing in obedience his joy only increases and it is this ; His face shining on us because he is joyful about us. That causes us to be flooded with his joying over us .
Its not about us having some emotion called joy..
We see this also in Zephaniah when he says ....
" The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, HE will rejoice over thee with JOY; he will rest in his love, HE will JOY over thee with singing.
The Joy of the lord is when GOD is Joyful about Us and he is beaming over us the biggest smiles ever
Reason #1 - because He loves the Son.
Reason #2 because we are In the son (this is proven by our obedience to the son that we love the son)
Reason #3 the father joys over us as we love the son proven by our obedience
Its always all about JESUS.
A lack of The joy of the lord in a persons life ...
Or.. A lack of God Joying over a persons life can only be caused by the absence of the above.
1 ..they are not in Christ
2 ..they do not love Christ Jesus
3..they continue to knowingly do deeds of Sin thus proving they do not love Jesus the son .
And we know if any one keeps on practicing sin they do not know God nor have seen him .
They love thier sin
They dont love Jesus.
Thus only" a fearful expectation of the wrath of God " awaits them .
Or to put it in the context of this topic
God is Not smiling at them ....
Lacking the Joy of the lord in your life?
Lacking God being pleased and joying over you..?
The remedy..: Repent and believe and stop disobeying him (inactivity is also disobedience) and start Obeying him and prove you love him .
The wonderful thing is. He WANTS you to. He WANTS to delight in you and you in him .God is FOR you .waiting for just such repentance in which he will Joy over you with singing...
Going his way is the only & eternally best way. And he will joy over you and in his Joy you will find it so great it is inexpressable and Full of Glory.
