Why does God allow the Gold Dome to remain in Jerusalem?

Is it God's will the Dome of the Rock continue to stand?

Since the destruction of the Temple in 70ad, there have been attempts to construct another one. Yet even during the many centuries of Middle East conflicts, primarily involving Israel and Jerusalem, including 2 World Wars, the Dome of the Rock is still standing since the 7th century!!

Could this be God's way of showing the Jews that He does not desire them to build another Temple? It appears to me that could be the case, tho it would probably not prevent them from building another one anyway.
Discuss....................

Matthew 24:
1 And Jesus coming out, departed from the Temple.
And His Disciples approached Him to show to Him the buildings of the Temple.
2 And Jesus said to them, “ are ye not seeing all these?
Amen I am saying to ye, not no may be being left here stone upon stone, which not shall be being thrown-down<2647>.”
Mark 13:
1 And He going forth out of the Temple, one of His Disciples is saying to Him “Teacher! behold! what manner of stones and what manner of buildings”
2 And Jesus answering said to him, “thou are beholding these, the great buildings.
Not no may be being left here stone upon stone which not no may be being thrown-down<2647>
Luke 21:
5 and of some saying concerning the Temple, that to goodly<2570> stones and votive-offerings<334> it has been adorned<2885>
6 “These which ye are beholding.
Shall be coming days in which not shall be being left stone upon stone here which not shall be being thrown-down<2647>

Luke 19:
41 And as He nears, beholding the City, and He laments on Her,
44 And shall be leveling Thee and Thy offspring in Thee,
and not shall be leaving stone upon stone in Thee,
stead which not Thou knew the season of the visitation<1984> of Thee".

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD

The Temple now presented little more than a heap of ruins........................................

Before their final demolition, however, Titus took, a. survey of the city and its fortifications ; and, while contemplating their impregnable strength, could not help ascribing his success to the peculiar interposition of the ALMIGHTY HIMSELF. "Had not God himself (exclaimed he) aided out operations, and driven the Jews from their fortresses, it would have been absolutely impossible to have taken them ; for what could men, and the force of engines, have done against such towers as these ?"
After this he commanded that the city should be commanded razed to its foundations, excepting only the three lofty towers Hippocos, Phasael, and Mariamne, which he suffered to remain as evidences of its strength, and as trophies of his victory.
There was left standing, also, a small part of the western wall; as a rampart for a garrison, to keep the surrounding country in subjection. Titus now gave orders that those Jews only who resisted should be slain ; but the soldiers, equally void of pity and remorse, slew even the sick and the aged. The robbers and seditious were all punished with death : the tallest and most beautiful youths, together with several of the Jewish nobles were reserved by Titus to grace his triumphal entry into Rome. After this selection, all above the age of seventeen were sent in chains into Egypt, to be employed there as slaves, or distributed throughout the empire to be sacrificed as gladiators in the amphitheatres ; whilst those who were under this age, were exposed to sale.....................

Deuteronomy 28:
64Yahweh will scatter you among all peoples, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth; and there you shall serve other gods, which you have not known, you nor your fathers, even wood and stone. 65Among these nations you shall find no ease, and there shall be no rest for the sole of your foot: but Yahweh will give you there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and pining of soul; 66and your life shall hang in doubt before you; and you shall fear night and day, and shall have no assurance of your life.
67In the morning you shall say, "I wish it were evening!" and at evening you shall say, "I wish it were morning!" for the fear of your heart which you shall fear, and for the sight of your eyes which you shall see. 68Yahweh will bring you into Egypt again with ships, by the way of which I said to you, You shall see it no more again: and there you shall sell yourselves to your enemies for bondservants and for bondmaids, and no man shall buy you.

The "Temple Mount" In Jerusalem is the Remains of Fort Antonia

Dome of the Rock | History, Architecture, & Facts

Dome of the Rock, Arabic Qubbat al-Ṣakhrah, shrine in Jerusalem built by the Umayyad caliph ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Marwān in the late 7th century ce.

Both the Dome and Al-Aqṣā Mosque are located on the Temple Mount, the site of Solomon’s Temple and its successors, an area known to Muslims as Al-Ḥaram al-Sharīf. The Dome’s structure and ornamentation are rooted in the Byzantine architectural tradition, yet its construction in the 7th century represents an early stage in the emergence of a distinct Islamic visual style.

The "Dome on the Rock" Is erronously built in the wrong spot.. if it was to deter the building of the third temple.

The Waling wall is not part of the temple. The temple was completely destroyed and sat south of the wall and the Dome... in a part of Jerusalem known as "The City of David".

New excavation is proving this. This is where it will be built.

God could care less about any structure built by man... including the Dome.. which is of no concern.

Do the Jews know that? [Oh, I forgot, they don't read the Christian NT/NC]

Act 7:48
'But the Most High in sanctuaries made with hands doth not dwell, according as the prophet saith:
Act 17:24
'God, who did make the world, and all things in it, this One, of heaven and of earth being Lord, in temples made with hands doth not dwell,

2Co 5:1
For we have known that if our earthly house of the tabernacle may be thrown down, a building from God we have, an house not made with hands -- age-during -- in the heavens,

Heb 9:11
And Christ being come, chief priest of the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands -- that is, not of this creation --

for not into holy places made with hands did the Christ enter -- figures of the true -- but into the heaven itself, now to be manifested in the presence of God for us;
=========================================
There is even some confusion among some Jewish sects whether their Messiah comes before or after the building of the Temple.

The Temple Institute: Articles: Which Comes First, the Messiah or the Temple?

(Maimonides, Letter on Religious Persecution)

Thus, it certainly stands to reason that the Third Temple could be rebuilt today in Jerusalem even before the messiah arrives. This would concur precisely with the opinion of the sages of Israel recorded in the Jerusalem Talmud:

"The Holy Temple will in the future be re-established before the establishment of the kingdom of David." (Ma'aser Sheni 29)

In the same way, the builders of the Second Temple did not wait for the messiah to arrive. They simply began the construction, regardless of their destitution and foreign domination.

Similarly, several attempts were made to rebuild the Temple, throughout history. These attempts were based on Maimonides' important principle, "the obligation of the commandments is not dependent upon the arrival of the messiah."

We can also find other indications throughout rabbinic literature that the messiah will appear to a generation that has already built the Temple. For example, in the Midrash Yalkut Shimoni (Isaiah 499) it is stated: "Our rabbis taught: when the messiah arrives, he will stand on the roof of the Holy Temple, and shout out to Israel: 'Humble ones! The time of your redemption is at hand!'"

In this scene, the messiah arrives to declare to his people Israel that the promised and long-awaited redemption has arrived... and Israel meets him in the Holy Temple.

At the same time, we also understand that in the event Israel has not yet built the Temple by the time the messiah arrives, one of his duties will be to instruct them to do so. It is to this scenario that Maimonides refers when he states in his "Laws of Kings:"

"In the future the messiah king will arrive... and build the Temple... and all the laws will be reinstituted as in former days; sacrifices will be brought, and the sabbatical and jubilee year records will be adhered to as specified in the Torah... and he will see to it that all of Israel follow these laws."

If Israel does not fulfill the commandment to build the Holy Temple as the returning Babylonian exiles did, then it will be done under the directive of the messiah, who will instruct the entire nation to rise up and rebuild it as in the past. But nowhere is Israel instructed to wait for him for the rebuilding! Thus Maimonides begins his "Laws of the Temple" with these words:

"It is a positive commandment to erect a Temple for the L-rd, ready for the performance of the sacrificial offerings, to where the festive pilgrimage is directed three times a year... "

In summary: it is much easier to wait for the messiah, and thus, "put the blame on him," then to take the responsibility for ourselves, for our lives, for our actions. But a careful Biblical analysis and study will reveal that waiting for the messiah's arrival to begin rebuilding the Temple is just a convenient excuse.

There is no question about the fact that at the time G-d wills it, the messiah will arrive. This a great promise that He made, and nothing can happen that will change that. But this has nothing to do with our obligations to G-d! Those also do not change! The messiah's job is not to come and tell us, "Now, it is time for you to fulfill this or that particular commandment." For the commandments are always to be fulfilled by Israel, at all times, to the best of our ability.

They should. Not only are the Arabs never going to let them build on the temple mount where the Dome is... but the temple was to be destroyed with no rock left on another.

New archeology is showing the the City of David is the correct location.

The Lord WILL destroy the DoR and that may be quite soon. Isaiah 10:23, Amos 6:11

Anyway, when I was in Jerusalem, my wife and I went onto the Temple mount. We were refused entry into the DoR by a Muslim cleric. So I put a curse on him and the building, he and it will be gone, then the new inhabitants of all the holy Land will build a new Temple there. Zechariah 6:15

The question of the thread title, "Why does God allow the Gold Dome to remain in Jerusalem?" - I think it's much like "why does God allow evil to exist" or even "why did God allow me to buy a Honda instead of a Lexus (hypothetical)". I don't believe God gets in the way of humanity's free will choices. He orchestrated history as it pertained to prophecy regarding Him - but He's communicated what we need to know (I believe).

Good info. This notable Jewish professor and Rabbi agree:

What Jews Can Learn from the New Testament | My Jewish Learning

A rich source for understanding the history of Judaism and the history of anti-Semitism.
By Martin I. Lockshin

It is daunting to think of the number of books a Jew “must” read in order to achieve Jewish literacy. With trepidation I suggest yet another volume to add to that list: the New Testament (NT).

Anyone who lives in a country with a Christian majority (such as the United States or Canada) should acquire basic knowledge of the foundational literature of the dominant faith. Students of the arts need to know stories like the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32), the raising of Lazarus (John 11:1-44), and the “passion” of Jesus (i.e. his trial, suffering, and death) or they will be at a disadvantage when studying many works of literature, art, and music.
But there are also reasons why Jews, specifically, would gain from study of the New Testament. It is a rich source for a better understanding of Jewish history, Jewish thought, Jewish law, and the history of anti-Semitism.

Familiar Language & Ideas
In fact, the more a modern Jewish reader is acquainted with rabbinic literature, the more he or she is likely to find texts of interest in the NT, and to notice just how similar many NT teachings are to those of the rabbis. For example, Jesus is quoted in Mark as coming to the defense of some of his disciples who had been criticized by the Pharisees for breaking the laws of the Sabbath. Jesus said that they had done no wrong since “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27).

Jews can read the NT to see both the strong Jewish values and the strong anti-Jewish values there. Virtually every page of the NT addresses Judaism either implicitly or explicitly. Jews who want to read a “Jewish book” will find much of interest there.

I voted other - because to say it is God's will, imo, means that it is God's desire - which the Dome of the Rock dedicated to the false god Allah is not God's desire.

Is it a factor in the end times events? Apparently so.

I think the Israeli government is concerned over the extent of the reaction of the muslims.

We don't know how and when the dome will be destroyed. But it may happen that it gets blown up.

The Dome of the Rock has nothing to do with Israel`s temple where the man of sin has his image set up. That temple already exists. It is situated on King George St.

Marilyn.
You are a prime example of someone who cannot accept the facts, because they conflict with your beliefs.
The Great Synagogue on George St, is not a Temple.

Re: The Dome of the Rock and the Al-Asqa Mosque, both are situated on the Temple Mount. If people understood what will happen on the forthcoming Day of the Lord's fiery wrath, they would know that they will both be gone, destroyed by the Lord. Jeremiah 4:26-28, Micah 5:10-15

Since the destruction of the Temple in 70ad, there have been attempts to construct another one. Yet even during the many centuries of Middle East conflicts, primarily involving Israel and Jerusalem, including 2 World Wars, the Dome of the Rock is still standing since the 7th century!!

In this paragraph, you make it sound like the Jews were never scattered during the event of 70 AD, stayed in Jerusalem the last 2000 years and have been attempting to rebuilt another temple.

But to answer your question.

Why does God allow the Gold Dome to remain in Jerusalem?

God won't allow the DoR on the temple mount much longer. He had it placed there to serve several purposes. But it will be removed and construction of the 3rd Jewish temple will begin sometimes after or during Israel's next war, the conflict you're now seeing with Iran involving the US, and or sometimes after Trump's peace treaty. I could be off as to which will happen first.

Daniel 9:2 New Living Translation
During the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, learned from reading the word of the LORD, as revealed to Jeremiah the prophet, that Jerusalem must lie desolate for seventy years.

Daniel 9:2 is not a prophecy about the first Babylonian captivity involving the tribes of Judah that happened around 600 BC. This prophecy is about the current 70 years captivity involving the descendants of Israel and the remains of Judah. In 1948, God also gathered back the descendants of Israel into the Middle East for them to serve their 70 years of punishment before bringing them home to Israel.

Jeremiah 29:10 New Living Translation
This is what the LORD says: “You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again.

Jeremiah 30:3 New Living Translation
For the time is coming when I will restore the fortunes of my people of Israel and Judah. I will bring them home to this land that I gave to their ancestors, and they will possess it again. I, the LORD, have spoken!”

Ezekiel 20:34-38 NKJV
34 I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out.
35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will plead My case with you face to face.
36 Just as I pleaded My case with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will plead My case with you," says the Lord God.
37 "I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant;
38 I will purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the country where they dwell, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

Isaiah 11:11-12 New Living Translation (NLT)
11 In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time
to bring back the remnant of his people—
those who remain in Assyria and northern Egypt;
in southern Egypt, Ethiopia, and Elam;
in Babylonia, Hamath, and all the distant coastlands.

12 He will raise a flag among the nations
and assemble the exiles of Israel.
He will gather the scattered people of Judah

from the ends of the earth.

If you wanna know where the lost 10 tribes of Israel is, they're also serving their 70 years of captivity in those nations mentioned in Isaiah 11, not allowed into Israel (Ezekiel 20:38) until God regathers them back shortly after the construction of the 3rd temple begins, soon. (Zechariah chapters 2-6).

The DoR is placed there so the temple cannot be rebuilt by the Jews till after the 70 year captivity of Israel is accomplished.

Hi Douggg,

Or sacrificed at another spot and the blood taken to the temple in the city. Remember Jesus said that the people would `see` the Abomination of desolation standing in the Holy Place. In the original Temple this would not be possible as the people were outside. Thus I see the temple/Synagogue in King George st. fulfils that quite well, as people can see the altar.

The sacrifices have to be at the temple location, It is whole complex procedure that has to be followed.

Here is a link to the temple institute site, which they have put together a lengthly slide presentation called...."A Day in the Holy Temple".

Hi Douggg,
I agree, however I don`t see the Jews building the Temple on the original site until the millennium.

Hi Douggg,

Marilyn.
But the Bible says it will be:

Haggai 2:6-9 In a little while, I shall shake the heavens, the earth, the sea and all the nations. I will fill this House with their treasures. This latter House will be greater than former. In this place, I shall grant prosperity and peace.

[The Second Temple was not greater than Solomon’s Temple]

Zechariah 1:16-17 These are the words of the Lord; I have returned to Jerusalem with compassion, My House is to be rebuilt there. My cities will again brim with prosperity, once again the Lord will comfort Zion and make Jerusalem the city of His choice.

2 Thess 2:3-4 The Return of Jesus cannot come until the man doomed to destruction is revealed and enthrones himself in God’s Temple, claiming to be God.

[What could be clearer than that? The Temple must be rebuilt before the Tribulation.]

Daniel 9:27....He will put a stop to the sacrifices and offerings, then will set up an abomination in the Holy place.

Malachi 3:1 I am about to send My messenger to clear a path before Me. Suddenly, the Lord, whom you seek, will come into His Temple. The messenger of the Covenant, whom you desire, will come to you.
At Jesus' Return, He will come into His Temple.

Marilyn, there will be a temple of some sort built. I am thinking that it will downsized initially to get the temple activities going, restarting the sacrifices.

But there is another possibility for a good sized temple being built - and still be within the parable of the fig tree generation not passing away, time remaining. That is President Trump's peace plan could provide for a Palestinian state in exchange for the Jews being allowed to built a a temple next to the Dome of the Rock.

Parts of the plan, according to a you tube video I was watching, is said to be announced on June 25 in Bairan... rumor. So it is all a big mystery right now.
