Conversation from another thread:

Who believes we are in the latter days and that the Rapture will happen in our lifetime?
TheSinningServant said: I apologize if this question has already been asked.

I am wondering if anyone believes that we are in last days based on prophecies and why. If you do not think so, I would also like to know why you think this.
Thanks in advance!
Lots of answers already so I will just add my training in this and what I teach based on Scripture.
I am convinced we are in the last days because of one major event--May 14, 1948!

That was when Israel was rebirthed as a nation and it was prophesied it would happen in the end times!

June of 1967 added more evidence to this when Israel regained control of their capital city Jerusalem.

Everything else including nations against nation and kingdom ....(WW 1 and WW2 ) are labor pains!

There is an Old Testament prophecy that says that the Jews will be scattered and hated of all wherever they go, but at the right time they will be gathered back to their own land. I'm not sure where that prophecy is, but Google will find it for those who want to use their fingers on their keyboard.

Hi LLOJ,

My answer is yes. Just as Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem was foretold pretty much to the day, so too was the nation of Israel regaining its statehood.

God bless,
In Christ, ted

The remnant of the Jews establishing a state in their ancient homeland.

One can really get into a lot of detail that 1948 was not only prophetic, but mathematical in precision.

It revolves around Ezekiel 4 and Leviticus 26. Poor 'ol Zeke is told to like on one side and then the other. A total of 430 days which equates to 430 years that the totality of the Hebrew people would be punished as that is how many annual sabbaths they did not let the ground lie fallow.

For the sake of brevity and not get all caught up in another issue, all the tribes were represented in the southern kingdom when it went into the Babylonian exile according to 2 Chronicles. Same thing when they returned per Ezra and Nehemiah's account. So we can dispense with arguing about northern kingdom / southern kingdom stuff.

70 years ticked off in that exile then Cyrus allowed the Hebrew people to return. Only a fraction did, thus the majority remained in Babylon and profaning the Lord by not returning to the land. Ezekiel 36:20.

This is where Leviticus 26 kicks in. It says that if after being punished, the Hebrew people remain in rebellion, that their punishment would be magnified 7 times.

7 x the remaining 360 years is 2520 years. The Hebrew Lunar calendar is 360 days, so we have to get it into our 365.25 day solar calendar. 2520 years x 360 is 907200 days. 907200 days divided by 365.25 days is 2483.78 years.

The decree of Cyrus to return was set in place roughly the late summer of 537 BC. For math purposes, that would equate to -536.4. So we take that -536.4 and add the 2483.8 years and we get 1947.4. Now we have to remember, there is no "zero" year between BC and AD, so we have to add a year. 1 + 1947.4 is 1948.4 or right around May 1948 when Israel became a sovereign nation again.

I knew my love of math would reward me some day!

Keep in mind, Israel was never a sovereign nation from the time of the Babylonian Exile clear to 1948 in accordance with the prophecy. They were always under the control of foreign powers. The one time they were not, the Hasmonean period. they were not a unified country with a leader but broken up into segments.

Only if you twist scripture into a pretzel, and only if you don't read Ezekiel 5 and 6.

If all the "Hebrew people" are included in the return where are the other eleven tribes? All I see there are Jews.

Not even all the Jews, and that's even what some Orthodox Jews say too.

Read 2 Chronicles and you will find several occurrences when many of the northern tribes migrated southward and joined with the southern tribes. By the time of the Babylonian exile, there were many represented of all the tribes living in Judah. One of the migrations from the northern area happened over 100 years after the Assyrians conquered the northern kingdom, thereby showing that not all the Hebrew people of the northern kingdom were taken captive.

When Ezra brought his remnant back from Babylon, they are called Jews 9 times and all Israel 40 times. When Nehemiah brought his remnant back, they were called Jews 11 times and all Israel 22 times. By the end of the Babylonian exile, the term Jew and Israelite were essentially interchangeable. So I get the idea that you haven't read those books since you say "All I see there are Jews". Might want to take another look at those books.

If you look at all these accounts of 2 Chronicles, Ezra, and Nehemiah you will find 8 of the 10 northern tribes specifically mentioned. Add in the tribes of Judah and Benjamin of the southern kingdom and the "floating" tribe of Levi that covered both kingdoms, and you have 11 tribes specifically mentioned.

No twisting of anything. And no need for you to take pot shots about "twisting scripture" and make such accusations. Character assassination is uncalled for and not one of the gifts of the spirit.

Let's look at 2 Chronicles. It appears they only remained in Judah for three years.

2 Chronicles 11:16-18 King James Version (KJV)

16 And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the Lord God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the Lord God of their fathers.

17 So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years: for three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon.

How many tribes returned to Palestine in 1948?

Are the last days prophecies of Genesis 49 disannulled?

I never bothered to worry about it. Seems like that is within Yahweh's pay grade to worry about. I did the other homework, why don't you grace us with some homework on your part and show us! Or is there and alternative agenda in your question?

Oh.... just a side note. Only those that like to "dig in the spur" on Israel use the term Palestine. There never was a country called "Palestine" in the land of Israel in the history of this planet. The Romans took the name Philistine (Palestine in Latin) and used the name for the region since they despised the Hebrew people and wanted to name the place after Israel's arch enemy the Philistines. When Israel became a nation in 1948, the land was called Trans Jordan. Go back and dust off the history book. Even the so-called "palestinians" didn't adopt that name until 1964, long after Israel had become a nation. They were just Arabs living in the British controlled territory of Trans Jordan.

Ezekiel 36:19-28,33-36 KJVS
[19] And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them. [20] And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the Lord , and are gone forth out of his land. [21] But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went. [22] Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God ; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. [23] And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord , saith the Lord God , when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. [24] For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. [25] Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. [26] A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. [27] And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them . [28] And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

[33] Thus saith the Lord God ; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded. [34] And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. [35] And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. [36] Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the Lord build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the Lord have spoken it , and I will do it .

Because on May 14, 1948 Israel became a nation again after over 1800 years of the diaspora! It is interesting that prophesy says they would return as on wings of eagles and listed an order of direction with north being first! The first Jews to arrive in the new Israel were on a plane from the north!

Also prophesy said when they returned in the latter times they wound return in unbelief, and that God would use the gentiles as HIs rod of Judgment to prepare Israel to receive Jesus as Messiah.

Israel has fought 4 major wars of survival since 1948 and they still as a nation are in unbelief though there are over 10,000 messianic congregations in Israel ( I have been there and worshipped with 2).
Also, Israel has been singled out more than any other nation and voted against in the UN.

These plus the precursors of nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom (WW1 and WW2) tell us clearly we are in the last days.

What is your response to my answer re 2 Chronicles, and Genesis 49?

There are several passages in 2 Chronicles after the passage you pointed out that show a migration of many of the tribes to the southern kingdom. You provided only one and appear to be basing an entire argument on that. The northern kingdom got progressively worse, and as it did, those who chose to remain faithful to Yahweh migrated south and joined with Judah and Benjamin. One of these events, 100 years after the fall of the northern kingdom to Assyria.

Again, if one takes all the passages of 2 Chronicles, Ezra, and Nehemiah together that reference the tribes individually, 8 of the northern tribes and both the southern tribes along with the Levites are mentioned together as the collective body of the Hebrews. All those tribes are not mentioned together in one section, and it requires one to study it out, but they are mentioned and addressed as being part of the collective group. It totally shatters the idea that there are 10 lost tribes that has been the subject of folklore for so long. Just like the myth that the Jews killed Yeshua that has been the basis of antisemitism for so long. It is true, if one tells a lie long and loud enough, it eventually becomes the truth.

So if enough Swedes emigrate to the U.S. Sweden ceases to exist?

Jewish history has many of the Northern Kingdom returning to Samaria after the Assyrian captivity. It is those to whom Christ was "sent only"... the lost sheep of "the house of Israel". Of course most went north into northern Europe, Britain, and Scandanavia.

Any serious bible student knows that anti-Semitism is just God's continuing curse on the Jewish people.

Much of it at the instigation of the “church”. Martin Luther said their synagogues should burned, Torah scrolls destroyed, all their property and homes confiscated, and driven out of the countries where they live. Of course Hitler and others have run with that. And it is on the rise again, and in some mainline denominations of the church. The recent BDS movement is part of that.

Somehow I missed the passage where it says that is the church’s responsibility. But there seem to be ample passages in both OT and NT that talk about being judged on how the Hebrew people were treated.
