Make no mistake, Trump is the only viable conservative option for 2020.
That's legitimately terrifying.
Too bad for Conservatives.Make no mistake, Trump is the only viable conservative option for 2020.
Too bad for Conservatives.
Republican Bill Weld announced back in February that he would run against Trump for the nomination.topic.
What a sad state of affairs for conservatism.Make no mistake, Trump is the only viable conservative option for 2020.
Doesn't seem like you have any other choice. So far, as a conservative, I have been pleased.
Before the election Roe will be overturned. I'm not sad about that! What a sad state of affairs for conservatism.
It was also true in 2016. Is this really a surprise?
Wasn't true then nor is it true now. It was speculation then and speculation now. Trump won the primaries but there is no actual way to know how any of the other candidates would have faired in a general election. Some people believe that Hillary Clinton was the sole possible candidate in a general election that Trump could have defeated. That certainly was the main theme of Trump's competitors in the Republican primary. When the field of candidates is as crowded as it was for the Republicans it is much more likely that a candidate that is significantly different than the others wins the nomination even when a number of that candidate's opposition could have been stronger in the general or have been the nominee had not so many similar candidates taken votes away form him/her if there had been a smaller field to begin with . Right now it would seem that is a definite positive for Joe Biden as being seen as the sole moderate in a huge group means even if only a quarter of Democrats agreed with his positions that would be sufficient to breeze to the nomination. When you divide the remaining 75 % between 20 or more candidates all taking pretty much the same positions on policies it is hard to imagine any of them coming close to 25%. So in primary after primary 25% would get it done.
I doubt that but even if it did, that wouldn't be the end of abortions in the US. It would simply become a matter decided on a state by state basis. Before the election Roe will be overturned. I'm not sad about that!

By election day 2016 there was only one Republican running. I can name plenty of people who ran in the primaries that had a real chance of winning the general election.1. Could you name an other conservative candidate running on election day in 2016 that was viable?
2. The Republican party will never nominate a candidate who is not an incumbent when they have an incumbent sitting in the oval office.
I, for one, welcome the race to see what red state can be most draconian towards their female citizens.I doubt that but even if it did, that wouldn't be the end of abortions in the US. It would simply become a matter decided on a state by state basis.
