My favorite thing to do in the morning is look to God and say, "Thank you for today. Hopefully it's an amazing day."
Many believers do this as well, but one thing that strikes me as being unique from most is I can hear Him when He responds.
God and I have developed a strong relationship. I need Him in my life. I'm 100% sure He loves having me beside Him. He corrects me when I'm wrong, tells me how to behave when things are out of my control, and even moved a hurricane!! (I kid you not man, it was seriously the coolest thing ever. I asked Him, as the storm approached (Cat. 4) to not let it hit us, and He said it wouldn't. For 3+ hours I shut down all doubt, and I mean it was constant meditation. Television muted, no music, no sounds except what God decided to put in my ears. I gave up before I went to sleep and allowed the doubt to sink in. "Your will be done, Sir," I said, then I thanked Him for the day and passed out. The next day the storm turned drastically and dropped to a Cat 1!!!! He is very real guys.)
Well, one of the things I love to ask of Him is to help me with my poetry. I would love to know what you guys think of one of my poems!

My Faith Restored

Here comes a faith restored.

I’ve said it before,

I’ll say it again,

The King lies within

This lonely heart’s core.

Prayers in the morning and prayers at night.

It’s a hard life,

Few will experience.

Keeping His tenants

Will keep me upright.

He’s so near.

He’s right here.

He’s right Now.

I don’t know how,

But Jesus demolishes my fear.

What else can I say?

There’s no other way to explain.

He loves me for who I am.

He wants to show me I can

Push through these sinful remains.

The adversary doesn’t break his stare.

I’m not scared

When I know You have my back.

The devil himself loves to attack

My desire to strengthen our care.

I look forward to walking those golden streets.

You say You’ll always be with me,

And I refuse to retain doubt.

Past space You obtain heavenly scouts,

And I’ll always believe Your ground is solid beneath these feet.

I love you my King.

I love you Father.

Holy Spirit I love you with all my heart,

And I know You love me

More than human minds could ever perceive.

Amen

Beautiful poem, and I felt how heartfelt you were with your story and celebrating how close you are with God.

I can't write poetry to save my life, but I can see a lot of emotion come through with it - yours hit the mark :)

I definitely did.

When I was a kid I liked to draw. I don't do it anymore now - not good at it, not drawn to it - but I would do these pictures for God. Mainly copying other images, and sometimes I would mix an assortment of medium like oil pastels, gel glitter, pencil and pen all in one image ^_^ My mom swiped on picture and kept it in her bible because she thought it was cute (I caught her one time lol) - but I found a picture I drew of Kittens when I was younger tucked away in one of my bibles. There were kittens in a basket playing with yarn, and I wrote "To God and Jesus" on it - I don't remember drawing this picture, but I find it sweet now. I used to do these as presents and "hand them to God" by putting them in the bible. Ah, the innocence of youth.

I don't have that now with some of this when it comes to worship and special connection, but sounds like you still do. That's definitely what your poetry is about.

I'm not one to put words in God's mouth, but I know He loves the "thank you's" just as much as He likes the poems :)

This is lovely! God must enjoy poetry as much as many of us do. I believe He gave us the Psalms (with the assistance of David and others!) to teach us this beautiful way of communicating - a method that allows us to share from our heart, from our emotions, with words that are often difficult for us to speak with our mouths. After my breakdown writing poetry gave me a tool to aid in my emotional healing. More people should try it.
