This from the same guy who just purged the White House press corps... Trump appears to be angling for a white male fragility trophy to go along with the ones he's gotten for time spent golfing.

Toward the end, the form also requested permission to add the user to an email newsletter

AAAaaaannnnddd there we have the real reason for all of this. I wonder what the rules are for how that list is managed.

'We can't allow the free market to determine what can and can't be said. We need the government to determine what can and can't be said.'

Government telling one what one can or cannot say? That's a European idea. Like another European idea, universal government controlled health care, I oppose that on the grounds it is the wrong policy for Americans. I have no problem with Europeans choosing to adhere to those ideas if that is their wish and I would never tell them how to govern themselves.

'We can't allow the free market to determine what can and can't be said. We need the government to determine what can and can't be said.'

Sadly, there have been enough instances of "Something's screwy here..." to make this all seem depressingly plausible.

For example, a year or so back we had the issue with YouTube's "Restricted Mode", which was supposed to prevent material inappropriate for minors from appearing. Thing is, left-leaning news commentary groups like The Young Turks didn't have any videos censored in this mode despite their frequent age-inappropriate cursing while right-leaning commentary groups like Steven Crowder's people (who abide by FCC guidelines as they started from a radio show) and Dennis Prager's people (most Prager University videos are intended for teenage audiences) were almost completely blocked and silenced.

This led to allegations that someone at YouTube had intervened with the process to either favor someone they liked or silence someone they didn't, and in fact Prager & co. filed suit over it

I'm sure the rule is that any and all e-mail addresses go directly in the "spam them with fundraising requests" list. I mean, a Trump supporter was able to get a bunch of people gullible enough to donate him millions on the premise of building a wall. Imagine how much money you could make selling all sorts of stuff to that demographic.

Such platforms are already beginning to crop up, but in at least one instance it's alleged that someone bullied their payment processor into noping out.

The problem is that any time anybody tries making an agenda-driven alternative to anything, it's destined to be a cheap imitation of the original. Christian music and film has been trying this for decades and, while they've certainly gotten better (particularly with music), it was a long slog and they still haven't achieved parity. Conservative "journalism" is rarely journalism. Phyllis Schlafly's kid tried making a conservative wikipedia and the result is a dismal joke that ought to embarrass any self-respecting conservative.

For a bunch that used to crow about the marketplace of ideas, they don't seem to want to / be able to compete in that marketplace too much.

The free market in action. Don't like it? Pull oneself up by one's bootstraps and start their own credit card company.

That's kinda sorta what credit unions are -- they tend to offer lower APRs on their cards.

Your liberal bias is noted. I have found the Conservapedia articles on Donald Trump, Adolph Hitler and the Similarities between Communism, Nazism and liberalism to be some of the best written and truthful information out there. Truly motivational and inspiring. The Biblical Bronze Age science is really informative as well with out all the atheist New Age Left Leaning Liberal Garbage that passes as so called science today.

Right before the election, I saw a "survival" kit being sold for hundreds of dollars to gear up for Hillary wininng... because you know, when HIllary wins it will be the end of the world.

The Kit contained a two Home Depot like buckets of dried rice, a couple of boxes of canned food and MREs, a first aid kit, flares, and a survival guide/book. If you were to purchase everything seperate yourself you'd spend about $100. However, if you buy this kit right now it will only cost you $299...
Yes, you read that right. If you bought the stuff yourself paying retail, you'd spend about $100, but they were selling it all for the bargain basement price of $299... Not $19.95, not $29.95, $299... They had started off with the kit being worth $599 and then they slashed it to $499 then threw in an extra bucket of rice then slashed it to $399 then threw in the survival guide and then they said, "We need to get this out to as many people as possible to save lives... Isn't there anything we can do..." and then the salesmen looked pained and said, "You know what, we're going to go as low as we can go... $299...

And their phones were ringing. You know, because, Hillary is the apocalypse and all that...
