Even though they deny a paid clergy, notice that 116,000 to 120,000 is just the base part of there income.

OK folks... I'm about to go full MatPat here...

This is gonna be a long one...

:p

If you've ever been near a US military base, you may hear "BAH" brought up. This is "Basic Allowance For Housing".

https://militarybenefits.info/2019-bah-basic-allowance-for-housing-rates/

BAH is what military service members get as an allowance separate from their pay in order to pay for housing if they choose to live "on the economy" (that is, in the nearby community rather than in on-base housing).

For example, by the calculator, an O-2 (2nd Lieutenant, US Army) who chooses to live in Copperas Cove, Texas rather than on-base at Ft. Hood would receive an additional $12,888 / year to pay for housing if they're single or $13,680 / year to pay for housing if they're married. That boils down to $1,074 month if single or $1,140 if married

Here in this part of Central Texas, land is cheap. $1,000 / month? You're in a nice home, usually a higher-end place that is either fairly new or newly-remodeled.

Don't believe me? Take a look at these listings via Century 21, a prominent real estate company in the United States:

https://www.century21.com/for-sale-homes/76522z/sort_monthly_pay_asc/pageNum_19

Well, when that quote you have is talking about "allowance", that's the kind of thing it's referring to: housing, utilities, et cetra.

$120,000 / year -> $10,000 / month.

Sounds like a lot, doesn't it?

...Until you realize that Salt Lake City's pretty expensive. It's not "New York City expensive" or "Los Angeles" expensive, but you're in for some sticker shock compared to a place like Central Texas.

This is what $10,000 / month will get you in Salt Lake City, assuming you pretty much *only* use it for rent ->

https://www.century21.com/for-sale-homes/Salt-Lake-City-UT-432c/sort_monthly_pay_asc/pageNum_75

You're basically paying 10 times as much in SLC for what you could get here in Central Texas.

You could, of course, get cheaper housing if you go for the suburbs, but then you've got Salt Lake City traffic to factor in, which is not anything to take lightly. Oh, and at least some of what you're saving in rent goes to your vehicle, its upkeep, and time stuck on the road.

That BAH calculator? I re-ran it with 84101 as the Zip code -> one of the *many* zip codes assigned to Salt Lake City, and it tacked on another $5K / year.

Did you read a single word I said about property values in Salt Lake City?

That view, assuming it's unaltered, is *literally* overlooking Temple Square. Something like that's gonna drive property values through the roof.

Seriously -> You'll get more done if you listen to people instead of lecturing at them.

President Nelson earned his money the hard way:

A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Nelson attended the University of Utah for his undergraduate and medical school education. He then did further surgical training and earned a Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota, where he worked on the research team developing the heart-lung machine that in 1951 supported the first ever human open-heart surgery using mechanical takeover of heart and lungs (cardiopulmonary bypass). He served for two years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during the Korean War, then did a year of surgical training at Massachusetts General Hospital. In 1955, Nelson returned to Salt Lake City and accepted a professorship at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He spent the next 29 years working in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. Nelson became a noted heart surgeon, and served as president of the Society for Vascular Surgery and the Utah Medical Association.[6]

Nelson also served in a variety of lay LDS leadership positions during his surgical career, beginning locally in Salt Lake City and then as the LDS Church's Sunday School General President from 1971 to 1979.[7] In 1984, Nelson and the American jurist Dallin H. Oakswere selected to fill the two vacancies in the LDS Church's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles created by the deaths of LeGrand Richards and Mark E. Petersen. LDS apostles serve for life, and so Nelson retired from all of his prior professional positions.

Do these Pastor deny getting paid like the LDS organization do ?

Check out # 6
Examining the "17 Points of the True Church"
Not that I am aware of. That being said, the topic of this thread is:
Mormons have the highest paid clergy
I don't believe that for a minute. No one in positions in my ward or stake are getting paid by the church except some of those who need welfare assistance or those being supported on missions. Even then most of the missionaries support themselves on money they and/or their parents have saved. Most of us have regular jobs and support ourselves and our families from that income.

If he does get something from the church's business ventures it is most likely less than he could be making as a medical board member. He might not be taking anything.

Sounds like your painting a picture of misinformation since the Mormon hierarchy is getting opulent wages with chauffeur driven limousines, body guards, and lavish housings . That why a BYU professor and her children left the LDS religion and her children authored this song

Do you... understand any of the items noted on that document?

At all?

It straight up says in the lower right-hand corner that his monthly salary is $0.00, while his net pay is $1300.

He's getting allowances and a stipend, much of which is going right back out the door for things like withholding (both state and federal) and insurance (that "24Hr AD&D" entry? That's an accidental death and dismemberment insurance policy).

Again, what these individuals are getting is fair and reasonable given local cost of living.

You can call it allowances, stipends or wages but it's still the same, something Mormon deny is happening

It's no secret that the very top-level clergy are 24 / 7 / 365 with the church and so are given stipends to supplement their personal assets. If anything, it's far more well-known than you might think. It's also very often a meager sum compared to what they could have made had they stayed in their previous profession, especially when you're looking at people like Elder Uchtdorf who was a corporate vice president.

Limos? That's standard for just about anyone of high-level authority.

Body guards? Maybe if people weren't trying to kill us all the time...

And so on.

As it is, they represent a small fraction of the overall clergy within the church, the vast majority of whom operate as lay ministers and balance day jobs on top of what they do.

You go to an average LDS congregation, and the head honcho could be a helicopter pilot, teacher, military officer, doctor, firefighter, et cetra. They're not in it for the money.

You're not even beating a dead horse at this point but a pile of bones.

The major problem is the incessant that LDS doesn't have a paid clergy when they do, which is a major lie from them .

Most people who say that are referring to their local-level ministers, who... aren't paid.

It's actually that simple.
