The irony being that Burr is a Republican.
Burr holds firm despite GOP anger over Don Jr. subpoena

Richard Burr faces intense pressure from Republicans to drop his subpoena of President Donald Trump’s eldest son and quickly wrap up the Senate Intelligence Committee’s Russia probe.

But despite a day facing attacks from the highest rungs of party leadership, Burr is unmoved, according to colleagues in both parties.

Can you imagine being in the position of having to carry water for Don Jr? It’s hard to fathom anything more emasculating. As low as my opinion of congressional Republicans is, most of them are 100x smarter and more capable than that 3rd generation coattail rider.

The irony being that Burr is a Republican.

...a Republican who is carrying out his Senate Committee Chairman responsibilities....

Sen. Marco Rubio, a Republican member of the panel, said he thinks the criticism of Burr is “a fundamental misunderstanding of what the Senate intelligence committee is about,” which is congressional oversight and not prosecution.

...
however, some of his Congressional peers are more than willing to ignore their oversight responsibilities over fear of upsetting Trump (this is the sad state of the Republican party)

The blowback against him inside the Senate was especially fierce from Republicans up for re-election in 2020, including Tillis and Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, who said he understands the younger Trump’s “frustration.”

“I think we have an important job to do to try to keep the intelligence committee out of politics,” he added. Cornyn, who is on the intelligence panel, later said he has confidence in Burr.

Other Republicans joined in. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul tweeted that Burr “didn’t get the memo” that the Mueller case was closed. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted: “There’s no need for another subpoena for @DonaldJTrumpJr. It’s time to move on & focus on issues Americans care about.”

“Endless investigations — by either party — won’t change the fact that there was NO collusion. It’s time to move on. It’s time to focus on ISSUES, not investigations,” tweeted House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.

As noted in this AP piece, the DT Jr agreed to the interviews last year...and then changed his tune once the Mueller Report was released....

AP Reporting...May 14 at 11:54 AM
WASHINGTON — The Senate intelligence committee subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr. after he backed out of two scheduled interviews as part of the panel’s Russia investigation, the chairman of the committee told his Republican colleagues last week as he tried to stem criticism from the move.
..............
Burr told colleagues that Trump Jr. had twice voluntarily agreed to interviews and later backed out. The committee had been in negotiations with Trump Jr. since December and had scheduled the interviews for March and April, according to one of the people familiar with his remarks.

Trump Jr’s stance about the interviews changed after special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe on Russian election interference investigation ended without any charges against the president’s eldest son, according to a person familiar with his beliefs but not authorized to speak publicly about private conversations.

Donny junior is not a government employee and has no official position in the Trump administration. He is, legally, nothing but a private citizen. Trump has no authority whatever to prevent his testimony.

Shh... Don't tell Donald that -- he hates it when people tell him "no."

How can we expect Jr. to testify when he’s busy bringing peace to the Middle East? Priorities, people!

Alas, he seems to have re-prioritized:

Donald Trump Jr. has reached a deal with the Senate Intelligence Committee to appear for a second closed-door interview in June, according to people familiar with the matter, ending a tense standoff between the president’s son and the panel’s Republican chairman.

Under the terms of the deal, Trump Jr. will testify for up to four hours on a limited number of topics.

That's Mr. Ivanka, not Junior. Junior is running the business for his dad and, like dad, gallivanting with his mistress while ditching the mother of his children.

Republicans and Donald-fans seem upset because Junior already testified. However, there are discrepancies between his testimony and the testimony of others (Cohen among others) that should be cleared up.

Where’s this “anger” and “outrage”? I didn’t see anything in the article that expressed either, with the exception of and obvious editorial comment.

I’m still curious.

Or obfuscated further. Are we still expecting truth from the Trumps?

No, but with impeachment charges looming, the Senate needs to seriously evaluate the testimony they have.

JoeDiGenova said:
This subpoena is not about answers, it’s not about justice, and it certainly isn’t how a private citizen should expect to be treated by Congress. This subpoena is simply an opportunity for another exercise in political theater predicated on the word of a convicted liar.

Criticism is now the same as outrage?
Hammster asked about the supposed outrage not just criticism and disagreement with what Burr is doing.
