Trump is no less a liar yet millions not only BELIEVE him but trust him to lead the country. At least with Cohen's lies, there is relatively little impact.

Whatabout whatabout -

how does that change the narrative?

answer - it doesn't

I would note that: So long as he was working for Trump, Cohen was paid to liar.

I wonder if perhaps there is some kinda "correlation=causation" thing going on? Not really; I don't seen Trump as a principled person and I imagine the closer you are to him professionally (ie....the more "under his thumb you are), the more likely you are willing to part ways with the truth. I mean really, look at Trumps record of lies/mistatementes?

It seems ridiculous to say "Cohen is a liar!" when he lied to protect your guy.

I don't even know what narrative needs to change.

The irony of attacking Cohen as a liar when Trump lies five times before breakfast is priceless.

CNBC (Trump fixer Michael Cohen says he helped evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr. handle racy photos) is reporting that in the months before Donald Trump started his campaign for the 2016 election, Michael Cohen was approached by Jerry Falwell Jr. for a 'personal favor'. It appears that some 'personal pictures' of Falwell's fell into the hands of someone who was extorting him for money. Cohen approached the party, explained they were committing a crime and law enforcement would be called in if they persisted.

Apparently the pictures were destroyed (except possibly one which Cohen apparently still possesses) and all was good. Then it appears that Cohen approached Falwell to enlist his endorsement of Trump just before the Iowa caucuses. Falwell then endorsed Trump and presented Trump as a reformed sinner whom Evangelicals could support for president.

A couple of things stick out in my mind. One, an attorney doing a 'personal favor' for someone tells me that Cohen did not charge Falwell for his legal services. That makes Falwell 'beholden' to Cohen. Then it is Cohen who convinces Falwell to endorse Trump AND vouch for Trump's standing as a repentant sinner. And Cohen apparently still has one of the photos.

I don't know or care what Falwell was doing when the picture was taken. That is a problem he has to deal with. But -if- the picture is worthy of someone else blackmailing Falwell, what would keep that same picture from being used to blackmail Falwell into endorsing Trump for president?

It would be a shame if Evangelicals were hoodwinked into believing Trump was a changed person just because one of their respected religious leaders succumbed to blackmail.

It sort of amazes me that people will believe a proven, convicted liar...while persisting in charging the president with lying every time he utters a colloquialism.

"colloquialism" - even more amazing are the creative words used to dismiss the President's dishonesty.

[...for the record, I don't believe any of them -- Trump, Cohen nor Falwell Jr -- without further evidence]

It amazes me how supporters of this president are able to turn outright lies into "colloquialisms."

Accept a lying, criminal president.

I concur.

So you're saying that TrumpFans are more accepting than TrumpHaters?

Maybe TrumpFans look out and see a bunch of run-of-the-mill politicians all trying to act civil and professional in public, and to them, he's the diversity candidate.

The President is a proven liar and cheat. But, like any good syndicate boss, has managed to avoid criminal charges. It’s painfully obvious now why he is so threatened by any scrutiny of his financial dealings.

If that is what you want to believe, then I will amend my earlier comment to say that I am amazed that critics will believe one liar but not another one. It doesn't really say much for their alleged outrage IMHO.

Without proven liars, organized crime cases couldn’t be prosecuted.

That's what it must be. The Republicans have become the party of "everyone gets a chance." Fine, I'm willing to give Trump a participation trophy.

This spin only works on folks who don't know that Cohen's lying was at the behest of Individual 1 while working for the Trump Organization.

...a colloquialism.

Oh brother.

Michael Cohen? A disgraced lying convicted convict? Anything to attack the popular elected leader of our country I guess.
Given that this President retained Michael Cohen as his personal "fixer" for the past 10 years, what does that say about the type of individual with whom he chose to surround himself?

Cohen's lies and subsequent convictions were a result of his interviews with the Mueller Investigation - the same interviews that as President this "popular elected leader" was able to avoid!

I thought it was a Carnac the Magnificent bit.

Ha, ha - you're old to make that reference. And I'm just as old to catch the reference.

{holds envelope to head}

Carnack - Hot and bothered. Hot. And bothered.

Ed - Ho ho!

{rips and blows into envelope}

Carnack - Describe Ann Coulter.

Ed - Hi-Yo!
