• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

am on medication for it i see my psych on the 21st of may they been giving me meds for years nothing helps no meds help

Sorry to hear that. I hear voices too and they are terrible. Really frustrating which can lead to anger (outward) or depression (inward). Maybe talk to your counselor about the inward or outward topic. If you carefully change it to outward in a healthy manner you might be less depressed. Your counselor will probably have suggestions about that. How you can vent the frustrations coming from the voices.

Hang in there, there should be meds to dampen the voices. I barely hear my voices anymore. I'm schizophrenic on a new med called Rexulti. Which medications have you tried if I can ask?

I'm so sorry Lily.
My brother's wife has schizophrenia in her family.
26 years old when it happened to this young man.
He's almost 40 now. The medication does help the voices but it makes him feel funny and he doesn't like taking it.

It's tough in this life here. We all have problems but some are heavier than others. I'll have you in my prayers...I would pray that God take those voices away, that His healing hand could touch you and make you feel stronger and better.
Blessings

Hey, Lily. Today is Divine Mercy Sunday for Catholic Christians.

I pray deeply that the Divine Mercy of Christ would touch you, heal you, illuminate your heart and mind, warm your soul, and let you know just how deeply you are loved by Christ. Hang in there, friend.

"Jesus, I trust in You!"

This prayer helps me very much. I also struggle with intrusive thoughts, depression, scrupulousness, and anger. We are all struggling, in many ways. You are not alone.

No matter where you wind up in Christ, I have a lot of respect for you, and admire you very much. You are very brave. God bless you, Lily. Christ bless you.

"Eternal God, in Whom Mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustble, increase Your Mercy in us that in difficult moments we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your Holy Will, which is Love and Mercy itself."

voices make me want to end it my ocd as well :(

Whether you admit it or not, you talk to yourself. We all talk to ourselves. Talking to yourself does not make you crazy. It is better that you talk to yourself than let your circumstances talk to you. It is better for your mind to speak to your emotions instead of the other way around. It is better for you to preach to yourself than let the evil one do it. So, what do you say to yourself when you speak to yourself? The best example is from David. In Psalm 42, he said to himself, “Why are you downcast oh my soul? Put your hope in God. For I will yet praise him, my saviour.”

Psalms 42 & 43 is said to be the biblical cure for emotional depression. The psalmist in Psalms chapter 42 and 43 was also going through one of those times, and thankfully he opened up his heart to show us the best way to deal with those times of discouragement and despair.

You're probably unfamiliar with delusional voices of the mentally ill. They typically don't reflect a self discussion and are often extremely negative and hateful against them that suffer such things. They can even tell people to kill others, not really a self discussion :(

:) Going to take "end it" as its written. As a believer in Jesus Christ that gave us all authority over the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt us. I take authority over the spirit of depression and suicide and command it to leave and not come back in JESUS name. And pray that the peace of God which suprasses all understanding WILL keep and guard your mind in Christ Jesus.. to replace that depression. And also the JOY of the lord IS your strength in JESUS name.

I thank you Father for hearing..for its written if we know you hear us when we pray we know we have the petitions we asked for. For your WILL is your word. So Father let the peace that Jesus gave "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Father you said '
ear not, for I am with you;be not dismayed, for I am your God;I will strengthen you, I will help you,I will uphold you with cmy righteous right hand" To Lily76.

And Father the voices... Jesus said we know His voice and the voices of any stranger we wont hear.

Not a hope but a FACT! Jesus is REAL!

That I am, and that is why I also mentioned in my original message (if you read it carefully) that, "It is better for you to preach to yourself than let the evil one do it."

I agree that a good self discussion can do good. Also the voices of the mentally ill are from the subconscious most likely and not from some evil source. I believe they are manifestations like waking dreams, and some are nightmares.

It could be a medical condition like you are saying, but those voices are certainly not from the Lord, for it is written, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" - 2 Timothy 1:7. The Holy Spirit that indwells us is the comforter, and He ministers to our troubled souls.

Well the mentally ill are given trials. That does not mean that God does not visit us with the Holy Spirit. I have experienced the Holy Spirit on three very powerful occasions where I was filled with a heavenly measure of peace and love and all turmoil and pain left my soul for hours each time. But then after he left the mental illness returns. The Holy Spirit does not stay with us: Genesis 6:3

"And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years."

William Cowper was 33 years old when he met Jesus in an asylum he was admitted too, after he had tried to commit suicide for the third time during a period of insanity and depression. Although William met Jesus in the asylum, he continued to struggle with loneliness and depression all the days of his life. But despite the pain, his hope still remained in the gospel. During one of his darkest hours, he wrote the song “There is a fountain filled with blood” (which is based on Zechariah 13:1). One of my favourite line from the song is in the third verse, in which William writes thoughtfully and encouragingly:

“Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood shall never lose its power, till all the ransomed ones of God be saved to sin no more.”

I should probably add that I also feel a lesser measure of the Holy Spirit quite often and feel really well inside, feeling peace and love. And that is from service of the Lord.

"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever"

John 14:16 clearly tells us that the Holy is permanent, a done deal and would be with us forever. But while we are sealed with the Holy Spirit, filling of the Holy Spirit is continuous. The Bible says that, “He who began a good work in you, is the very ONE who will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6)” This means that the sealing of the Holy Spirit is dependent only upon God’s gracious favour, while the filling of the Holy Spirit is dependent upon us asking Him moment of everyday to be filled with His Spirit. To be filled with the Holy Spirit, we must be emptied of ourselves.

In the old testament, the Holy Spirit will come on one of God's people and uses them and then goes back to heaven. The Holy Spirit came upon Samson and used him. The Holy Spirit came upon Isaiah and used him, and then HE went back to heaven. That is why David prays in the Psalms saying, "Take not thy holy spirit from me." But on the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit permanently came to earth to dwell in all those who put their faith in Jesus Christ. It was for the first time in human history until that moment that the Holy Sipirt came to indwell the believers, and whenever a person receives the Lord Jesus Christ as their saviour and Lord, the Holy Spirit comes in and dwells in him or her. The Holy Spirit, the very breath of God dwells in us. For he is the spirit of the living God. He is the full representative of the Lord Jesus Christ. That is why Jesus can promise us that, "Never will I leave you nor forsake you." - Hebrews 13:5-6

The Spirit Of The Living God.
