• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I will go out with a Christian group of my church tomorrow, celebrating Easter. And will be back the day after tomorrow. May we be not disturbed by the police.

And wish you all a blessed Easter.

Feeling a little better than this morning, i was so badly nauseated then, yuck i hate feeling sick in the morning it taints the whole day.

We listened to two sermons yesterday, they were both up building. It can be good to hear the word of the Lord preached. So refreshing.

My mood has gone sour again and i'm flat to low in my moods. A lot of sadness yesterday, i always try and look after myself extra well when i'm sad. i get so sensitive then.

Wishing everyone a blessed Easter.

Maybe I should stop venting permanently...

It can be like that at times around here though lately we have had few negative comments on those venting posts but a lot of compassionate ones.

i reckon when we vent we have basically three type of people responding 1)those who take offence and want to teach you a lesson, 2)those who don't care how you feel but see the opportunity to stir up a little trouble, 3)and those who read between the lines and see the hurt and hardship behind the venting and want to show compassion and care.

C.F has a lot of compassionate people responding to venting posts i reckon. A lot more now than in times past. i know of a lot of people who were basically told to shut up and go away in times past but nowadays a lot of responses have been caring and compassionate responses.

It is best to take the good with the bad when it comes to venting on the forums. Good responses can inspire and really help to move away from hurt, bad responses are best ignored i reckon. It is a pity we don't have an i don't like this post button.

Peace

Feeling terrible today. i dumped my 5-htp because it wasn't working any longer and making me more sick. What i hadn't expected was withdrawals. It is terrible. i was up at 3am this morning bright awake so it looks like my insomnia will come back again, which most likely means more psychoses. i have nausea, racing thoughts, ever so fast cycling moods, i don't know if i'm coming or going, i'm shaking all over.

The problem is that i can't afford to do it slowly i have to get back up on my feet by Wednesday because then Yvonne and me are going to Canada to see our son and daughter in law with their two children and i want to be up and about doing that.

The 5-htp was making me nauseous and depressed i couldn't keep on going like that. i'm feeling sick now but the depression has already lessened. Hopefully the nausea will be gone by Wednesday and the withdrawals over and done with.

The mistake i made with 5-htp was to ignore the warnings not to take it longer than 3 weeks and then have a week off. i took it full time for two years. It was great at first for my insomnia went away, so did my racing thoughts, anxiety and my depression i felt good for over a year.

However the last 6 months i have been getting depressed again and very anxious with a lot of nausea. i didn't think to check on my 5-htp until now. i thought the nausea was from my anxiety, as my anxiety often triggers nausea, but when the nausea stayed all day and every day i began to suspect that we might have other problems going on.

Now i know that 5-htp can do this. Increase my anxiety, depression and nausea, i suffered from them all. Now i know 5-htp really ought not to be used full-time. i should have ignored those reviews that said that 1 year full-time is okay and maybe longer. i just thought by myself 5-htp is working like a dream. i was sleeping 9 hours a night instead of 3 or less. My racing thoughts were gone and i had no more psychotic episodes at all. Just 6 months ago it started to turn sour when i became depressed again on and off. Then the anxiety came back and then the nausea began to go through the roof.

Now i know i'm going to need to give it 3 months break at least to normalise my brain functions again and then i will try and use it 3 weeks on and 1 week off as some doctors recommend.

Hard lessons to learn.

i'm feeling terrible. It looks like my father in law is dying. Yvonne is devastated and our holiday will need to be deferred. All this getting ready to go will need to be undone.

Still struggling with severe withdrawals as well, not doing well.

That’s sad that your father in law is dying

Yes it is and i'm feeling it. Not for him though, he is 91 and suffers from dementia he is well and truly ready to meet the Lord and looking forward to it. We are all happy for him. For us? For my mother in law it is devastating they were 66 years married and loved each other a lot. For us? We were going to go on holidays on Wednesday to Canada to meet up with our son and his family and then to Holland to meet up with my family - especially my dad who at 90 is also getting ready to die soon. Now we have to postpone the trip. We might loose the money spend already, a big sum which will not be easily replaced.

We both have old parents and we knew that we run this risk planning our holiday, of course you hope that all will be fine and prepare any way. Our travel insurance wouldn't cover our parents because they were in nursing homes. We hope to defer our trip even if it costs us a bit, we will try tomorrow.

Thanks for caring

Feeling sad and alone. My father inlaw is as good as dead. They have him in palliative care of all medicine and on morphine without food or water to help him along on his way. Personally i don't like it that they don't give him any fluids at all, dying thirsty like anything doesn't seem like a nice way out.

Yvonne and Sam have gone to Perth to be with the family. i've been too sick to come, although i'm a lot better than a few days ago. Yvonne suggested i stay home for i was prepared to come along sick and all. i don't know how long dad will take to die so i don't know when Yvonne will be back.

i woke up at midnight and kept thinking about dad so i got up and haven't been back, its 3am now. Hopefully i still catch a few hours. It looks like insomnia is going to be back again to pester me and drive me nuts. Be glad when i can go back on 5-htp but that will be a few months yet.

Hope all of you have a blessed week.
