That could be. The thing is with airplane's is that they need to create life with the air moving across the wing. The air gets thinner at higher altitudes and lift becomes increasingly difficult the higher you go.I believe i read some where that around 30 miles is the record for an airplane flight.
No.Wait...on a flat earth, how does a large body of water even exist? Doesn"t the water all fall off?

I have heard this argument before. However, even with our technology... it just makes things easier. But the navigators on ocean going vessels of days gone by had to be very accurate. When you are traveling that far with only the stars and a sextant... if you are not accurate.. you can die. These sailors were experts.Could it be that 1773 measures were not very accuarate. What about today's measures?
There is no serious controversy.

Here is what gets me about going high above the earth and looking for the curve. I don't fly much as I am not much of a traveler.. But...

If you were to stand on a large ball, you would only see so far before you saw a horizon. This horizon would be the same in all directions, as the curve of the ball would make the surface obscured beyond this point as it dropped away.
Now, if you were to raise up above your present spot.. you would see farther. This new vantage point would allow you to see the surface at a further distance. At this further distance, the surface would be lower than before.
Keep rising and as you do, you would see further and the surface would be even lower still.
Keep doing this and the horizon would get lower and lower until you see the diameter of the ball and the spherical nature of the ball.
This is not what happens on our earth.. The horizon is always right there mid view, center frame of any shot or sight...
No it is not.
Yep. It's not funny when an organization that gets 53 million dollars a day from the US tax payers... has to use a kiddie lens (fish eye) and cannot afford are big boy lens to take real pictures. Pity. This is not longer funny or amusing.
This is a beautiful proof of a globe. Even from such height we can see only little bit of landmass, not even one whole continent. Why? Because the rest is behind the curve ;-)
