How will you celebrate Easter?

I don't have a church, so the only way to hear an Easter message is watch a sermon online. I can do that every week though. So for me, watching a sermon online for the first time will be a way to celebrate the most important holiday on the Christian calendar. What are your plans for an Easter celebration?

Yes- I'm an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, and because I'm on the Sunday schedule, I'll be serving that morning.

Just because you don't have a church doesn't necessarily mean you can't go to one. Easter is our #1 day for first-time visitors.

I will be visiting myself (don"t know where), as I will be out of town. Spending the rest of the day on the beach. That's what m'lady wants. Easter MONDAY, however: it's called 50% off all easter candy. It's hilarious telling the kids the Easter bunny will be late this year, but they know I'm full of it anyway. More candy for them.

I explained this in the Looking for a Church section, but can say it again here. My mom is a Methodist, so we can't agree on a church. I like the Vineyard and she hates it. So to go to one I have to visit a church I can walk to (I can't drive) and I am not a Presbyterian, Baptist, Christian Scientist,, or Lutheran.

Going and spending it with my family.

Not sure yet. As I mentioned before, someone has to be on call and available for business related problems that day, usually it is me.

After repeated bad experiences on Easter Sunday, I avoid church services. This was not just once or at one church, but over two decades involving Baptist, Catholic, Church of Christ, United Methodist and Unity. Once I realized this, and stopped going, my Easters became much more meaningful and fulfilling.

I have gone to the brunch at the Buddhist temple on Easter and that is always positive and peaceful. But as of right now, no big plans yet, just see how the weekend goes.

I am sure they would love me too . . . if nobody knows I will not be going back. I cannot bring myself to a church that is not right for me to attend regularly.

I will be going with my husband and boys to my mom’s for egg hunt for the kids, as my brother will be there with his family. Swimming. Big dinner. For my family Easter is nothing more than eggs, candy and a ham dinner. Of course the time we are getting together is the same time as church. But it’s ok. Our first Easter together with my mom having all her grandsons together, and that means the world to her.
So I won’t be going to church. I will be attending a new church the following Sunday.
This week I’ve been reading through the gospels to go along with the timeline of what Jesus was doing and going through.

For me no, the church I’ll be attending doesn’t have a service on Saturday nights. But that is a great option for many. One of the mega churches here has Sat night, a few on Sunday and Monday night service. Great option if that’s the right church for someone.

We have been attending a Buddhist brunch for tyhe past 7 years now. one thing about it: We are always welcome, accepted, and the mood is always peaceful.

Growing up the mood on Easter was far from Peaceful. In the Baptist church my parents made us attend, it was wrought with guilt, fear, and the inevitable message of "Jesus is coming and he will not like YOU!!!" I remember the psychopath preacher actually screaming "U are all going to Hell"

After dating a women in the church of Christ, it was the same thing week after week, no different on Easter: A rehashing of the same old boring message week after week...nothing hopeful or positive.

I went to a catholic church once at Easter. Someone actually asked if I was catholic, then asked "Why are you here?" talk about being unwelcome.

I attended a Methodist church for several years. In spite of the corruption that people do not wish to see. One Easter, the pastor got up to the pulpit and complained that people go to church only on Holidays. This was in front of many of us who were there week in and week out. I had a great answer to him: I mailed in my resignation and never went back.

I went to a Unity church and for the first and only time, it seemed like a real true celebration of God's Love, of Rebirth and of the Renewal of the Spirit. I went back the next year, the pastor had gone senile and the whole day stunk. They actually had a person dressed as an Easter Bunny charging $5 for photos. I never went back. That was my last ever visit on an Easter Sunday and I have vowed that it WILL BE my last visit ever on a Easter Sunday. I have volunteered to work on Easter Sunday, go to a Buddhist brunch or sleep in. I will not attend any Christian church on Easter Sunday ever again after all the bad experiences I have had.

Watching The Passion on Friday night.

Thinking about going to Easter Vigil on Saturday night. Maybe, maybe not. It may be regular Mass on Sunday. But you can't beat the atmosphere of Easter Vigil, that's for sure.
