You have Bible study? Me too, here is what I have been going through lately, and been sharing with others, as it is fascinating material -

Here is the last week of Jesus:

Here is the schedule:

[the 7th Day Sabbath of the LORD thy God]

Jesus at Lazarus' house in Bethany [Mt. Olivet] – [John 12:1]

[the first [day] of the week]

Jesus Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, "the next day" from leaving Lazarus' house, Hosanna! - [John 12:12,13; Matthew 21:10; Mark 11:11], goes to the Temple, and after looking around, leaves, since it was close to evening back out unto Mt. Olivet.

[the second [day] of the week]

Jesus comes back, curses the fig tree, goes to the Temple, and cleanses the Temple for the Second [last] time of the Money Changers - [Matthew 21:12,13,17; Mark 11:12,15,16,17,19], and Jesus goes back out.

[the third [day] of the week]

Jesus comes back, the Fig tree is withered up from the roots, goes to the Temple, and has the final teachings to the Pharisees, etc - [Matthew 21:18,23; Mark 11:20,27].

This was the "two days" before the "Passover" - [Matthew 26:1-2; Mark 14:1; Luke 21:37-38, 22:1].

Jesus tells the Jewish nation, that their house is forever left desolate, no more fruit again - [Matthew 23:37-39; Luke 13:32-35].

Jesus said, that He still had to do "cures" and "cast out devils" "to day, tomorrow and the third day" and be done - [Luke 13:32,33]

Jesus had been "daily" in the Temple - [Matthew 26:55; Mark 14:49; Luke 19:47, 22:53; John 18:20]

[the fourth [day] of the week]

The "tomorrow" [Luke 13:32,33]

[the fifth [day] of the week]

The "Third Day" [Luke 13:32,33], being done.

[the sixth [day] of the week; preparation]

Gather twice as much, Christ Jesus the anti-typical Manna, Exodus 16:25,26

The "spices" "had been" [Mark 16:1] purchased sometime after the Crucifixion and before burial so that they could "prepare" [Luke 23:56] them to bring on the "first [day] of the week" [Luke 24:1], even as we see Joseph of Arimathaea doing for the linen - [Mark 14:46]

1st Evening Part - [Matthew 26:31,34; Mark 14:27,30]
1st Morning [Light] Part - [Matthew 27:21; Mark 15:1]

Abib/Nisan 14th; Christ Jesus our Passover is Sacrificed for us - [1 Corinthians 5:7],

[the 7th Day Sabbath of the LORD thy God]

Jesus remained in the Tomb all Sabbath - anti-type Manna - Exodus 16:29,30

The Disciples were keeping the Sabbath according to the Commandment - [Exodus 20:8-11; Luke 23:54,56]

2nd Evening and 2nd Morning Parts - [Matthew 27:58-66, 28:1; Mark 15:42-47; Luke 23:52-53,54; John 19:38-42]

Abib/Nisan 15th - Seasonal Feast Sabbath [First Day of Unleavened Bread, without corruption] - [Leviticus 23:5-8]

[the first [day] of the week]

Christ Jesus, preserved and Risen - Anti-type Manna - Exodus 16:32-34, He is risen before sunrise as was His custom to pray unto His Father, Mark 1:35, as was in type Joshua 3:1.

3rd Evening and 3rd Morning Parts, Christ Risen and shown alive - [Matthew 28:1-10; Mark 16:2-20; Luke 24:1-29; John 20:1-23]

Abib/Nisan 16th; Christ the Firstfruits/Wavesheaf Offering, Anti-Type Resurrection - [1 Corinthians 15:20,23].

Jesus was walking with the disciples on the Road to Emmaus on the "first [day] of the week", as the day was closing out, being "the third day since these things" were done [Luke 24:21],

[the second [day] of the week]

Jesus was still walking with the two disciples on the Road to Emmaus as the first [day] of the week was closing, and it becomes Evening, and later meets the Apostles, in the upper room - [Luke 24:29,35, etc]

Palm Sunday yesterday; liturgy of the palms/passion (twice, at our usual service times).

This evening and tomorrow evening, Eucharists. Wednesday our usual morning Eucharist, and in the evening, tenebrae. Thursday will be the Maundy liturgy (foot washing, Eucharist, stripping of the church etc), Friday a liturgy of the passion and veneration of the cross (no Eucharist) in the morning, and 3 hours' devotion from noon. Saturday there's morning prayer then a working bee to clean and polish everything; then dawn Sunday will be the Easter vigil with renewal of baptismal promises. (A second service at 10am Sunday).

Oh, yeah, I have a nursing home service on Thursday too... still thinking about how best to do that, since apparently they don't want me to wash the residents' feet.

Wife doesn’t get off in time for Maundy Thursday service so that gives me the opportunity to check out yet another congregation for curiosity sake.

That is a very busy schedule Paidiske!

We had Holy Communion yesterday. Then nothing until Maundy Thursday. We're still debating whether to include foot-washing in that service. It's never been an element of the service but I've gently nudged for it two years in a row and the bishop does it that way at his home parish. That will at least be a Holy Communion service with the stripping of the altar.

Friday is most likely going to be Evensong. The Rector, when he can't figure out what he wants to do, defaults to Evensong. He's going to keep the place open for an all night vigil on Holy Saturday but it's going to be a contemplative time for individual prayer - not the Great Vigil Mass. I should mention that he strictly forbids hanging the Stations of the Cross in the building or any type of Adoration (some Continuing parishes do keep a monstrance and have Adoration - that's too Romish even for my sensibilities).

Fr. Tom is still lobbying for an Easter sunrise service. I don't think it's going to come about. In any case I've got my supply appointment that day so I'll not be in the loop. I'll be doing Holy Communion according to the usage of the Anglican Missal at 10:30 in the greater Richmond metro area.

We had palm Sunday with a procession around the church with palms. Maundy Thursday will include a stripping of the altar. We're not having it this year, but at some point in the week there is a public devotion with the Stations of the Cross outside. There is an all night vigil with the sacrament at an altar of repose. Then on Good Friday the sacrament is taken to the altar when there will be communion from the reserved sacrament, but no consecration.

The bolded text interested me. Has your parish done this outside before? Do you guys have permanent or temporary stations?

It is an annual tradition, though I fear it may be dying since this year it was canceled to encourage people to attend the ecumenical Methodist service as if we couldn't have found a way to accommodate both. But I digress.

The stations are not outside all year. They are temporarily set up for the service, though in the parish in New Mexico I attended there were permanent stations inside on the walls.

I believe we use only about seven stations or so? In New Mexico I believe they used fourteen.

Here's the run down at my church:
  • Palm Sunday - Holy Eucharist. Liturgy of the Palms/Passion with incense
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday nights - Praying the Angelus; Holy Eucharist
  • Triduum - Maundy Thursday with foot washing; All night Eucharist Vigil (Can you not stay with me 1-hr?)
  • Triduum - 7;00 pm Mass of the Presanctified with Veneration of the Cross; 12:00 PM Praying the Angelus and Stations of the Cross
  • Triduum - Saturday night Great Vigil of Easter with incense
  • Easter Sunday - 2 services. Holy Eucharist with incense. Return of the Hallelujahs!
And regarding warden duties, I'm Senior Warden and have no Holy Week duties beyond keeping my pew warm.

That looks like what we do minus the angelus. I knew I was forgetting something.

What extra work does Holy Week create for you as a warden, Naomi?

I'm curious, because I don't think mine are doing much "extra"...
Specific warden duties are keeping the church open for most of the week and the churchyard tip-top. But also organising/contributing to a massive Seder, march of witness, community footwashing, moving and replacing chairs, and anything else the vicar thinks is a good idea.

Ah; I guess because we keep the church open every day anyway, that's not really any different this week (and not something the wardens involve themselves in, since I live on site). My wardens are doing hot cross buns on Good Friday and breakfast after the vigil on Sunday, so there is extra hospitality stuff.

My wife and I went to Church on Palm Sunday. We plan on Easter Sunday to spend a day with my older parent to be with them, having dinner. Also I'll be watching any Easter programmes on TV and Radio.
