Allowing extras to work for free and reducing movie copyringhts to 20 years woould mess with the ability of the current studio system to preach their values or qoute unqoute values.

I legit think it could lead to a more ideologicaly diverse entertainemnt landscape.

They had everything 2 years ago in terms of legilsative power.

Because Hollywood has a monopoly on entertainment.

Was Netflix Hollywood when it started?

If actual rich people would put real money to decrease the dominance of the Progressives i fail to see why it could not succeed.

Actually there are plenty of good movies comign out from other countries...

If Americans were as open minded as they were during the 50s and 60s about foreign movies the woke gang could only preach to a much smaller audience.

If they would do it at all.

Maybe if the conservatives were able to make their stuff entertaining, they wouldn't need legislative support to prop up their boring moralising and virtue signalling.

You mean we shouldn't take away legislative support helping the progressives?

Why do you think people you label as conservative can only make boring stuff?

Outside of progressives. There are unwoke social democrats, Libertarians, apolitical folks etc...

I could go and on.

i don't trust social conservatives to break the progressive hegemony. There are others, more agile, more ninja...

Experience.

Got any evidence to the contrary?
We got leading men:
Mel Gibson, Clin Eastwood, Bruce Willis, John Voight,m The Rock...

All your progressive press raved about the movies of Carig S Zahler and is probably one the most cretively free new filmmakers.

Every Clint Eastwood movie is a great investment...

American Sniper is made kmore money in the US than the Avengers...

I don't trust your experience.

And how are those "conservative" movies?

American Sniper is an anti-war movie, I doubt that's very conservative, is it?

The discussion isn't about movies where some conservatives are working, it's about movies with a conservative theme, because your beef seems to be with movies showing "progressive values".

What kind of values would you like to see displayed more in movies to diversify?

Allowing extras to work for free
Why pick on the least powerful and worst paid? Is that really your "conservative values" allowing desperate, out of work people to be exploited?

As far as I know, the only thing stopping "allowing" extras from "working for free" is the union, the Screen Actors Guild. If producers want to hire their friends, family, dependents and people off the street to "work for free", they can, but there is no assurance that the same people will reliably show up, looking the same, day after day.

Now there's a great conservative value - union busting to exploit the working poor.

Why not give the movie industry, especially the owners/corporations a HUGE tax break? While doing that, remove all of the safety regulations as well.
That's conservative thought to spur investment and innovation, isn't it?

The fact is, however, that the "having everything" idea is an illusion. Yes, the President was a Republican and both houses of Congress had a Republican majority. However, some of these people were adamantly opposed to the President and some at least of the Republicans in both the House and Senate were determined not to cooperate with the other elected membrs of their party. IF the GOP had, in practice, the unity that the other party has, it could have done great things; but it did not have that unity.

Still in all, they were able to cooperate on some matters and it is, therefore, a shame that they did not turn more aggressively, while there was time, to other matters when it became known that they could not work together on some of their headline issues.
