That was so good to read, a real blessing from the LordI remember a time many years ago when I had just finished university and had a mountain of debt. I had moved to an area in North Yorkshire where the cost of renting was relatively high and had my very first full time job which did not cover my outgoings. My debt was growing and at the end of each month I was literally counting the food packets and tins and ensuring that I made them last.
I moved to a town where I didn't know anyone and where I felt a complete stranger. I lived in a small very cramped room which had poor lighting and the view from the window was of a brick wall! It was very uncomfortable and claustrophobic. During the long, lonely nights, I remember having a radio where I listened to Christian music and conversation - and this helped me realise that I was never alone, because God was with me.
God really blessed and helped me in special ways. I was able to find enjoyment in the simplest of things. I remember sitting out on a sunny day in a cafe enjoying a cup of coffee and cake and watching the world go by. Because it was barely affordable, it was a real luxury, a real treat. People tend to enjoy things more when they can't have them all the time.
I felt the outpouring of love from Christian friends who sent me letters and parcels, sometimes with vouchers, sometimes with gifts. One voucher helped me get a number of days shopping and I was able to eat like a king!
I eventually joined a local CofE church and got to meet new people and join them in fellowship.
I found it hard to find alternative accommodation due to the need to pay a deposit and the first months rent. I remember visiting Hollybush, a rural Christian fellowship near Thirsk. It is a place I had visited quite a few times. I went with friends for a morning service. On the way in the car, my friend gave me advice to submit a prayer request in our local church flyer. I did this, and within a week I was approached by a couple I did not know offering me to go and live with them in their house!
These days things are much better. I live in a place I love and have everything that I could possibly need in my life. But I will never forget where I came from, and I will never forget God for helping me during the times I desperately needed it.

'I was lost but Jesus found me,found the sheep that went astray, threw His loving arms around me,drew me back into His way' (Song of grace)I came across this picture today and it beautifully sums up my own Christian testimony. It's great to be home and part of the Lord's family!

I love that hymn - the words are so special. I particularly like the tune Hyfrodol which was also used for Allelulia Sing to Jesus - another great hymn!'Yes! I'll sing the wondrous story of the Christ, who died for me. Sing it with the saints in glory, gathered by the crystal sea' (Song of grace)
