Some of the music by these bands is ok, doctrinal speaking. But they are like hooks which are meant to reel people in to the Bethel church as they are worldwide now.

Hillsong is a worldwide organization. They have litle factions in other countries. Hillsong London is a bit more satanic in their live concerts.

Have a look, just scroll through to the middle of the video and tell me this is not satanic...

Well, I don't know enough about Satanic rituals to know whether this was a Satanic ritual, or a sad parody thereof. Whatever it is, it's over the top, and the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus is a good enough story without it.

Until about a month ago, I wasn't aware of the existence of these bands. It appears they are seducing followers through their glamour rock music fused with watered down gospel lyrics. The hope is that their followers will inevitably join and learn the false doctrines of Bethel church.

I learned of the bands existence while researching the usual suspects (Bill Johnson, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Joyce Meyer, Sin Roth, etc). This is where I learned about the operation of Bethel church, Hillsong, and jesus culture.

I tuned into my local Christian radio station recently and recognized some of the songs. Shocker! I did not know the church I was attending had been singing their songs in church.
The worship team is young, but do they really need to adopt these apostate bands into the church?

I would not have as much of a problem if it was only the music but someone at the church allowed an announcement recently, asking if people want to join a group on the works of Bill Johnson! I don't want to speak against the church or the pastor but I don't think this should be allowed. The church needs people with discernment to keep false teachings out of the church, and stand against apostates. I don't know if the church is out of touch or if they are trying to please everyone.

Sadly this is a huge problem in so many churches today. The music is a major way Bethel and others spread their false teachings and deception into innumerable places, often subtly and often by targeting the youth. I have family involved in the NAR, and they won’t speak with me about the very real issues and unBiblical practices. I’m thankful that you and others have discernment and realize that there is a major problem with Bethel, Jesus Culture, Hillsong etc.

One of the most recent NAR events was “The Send”. It was held in Florida and YWAM was involved, along with Bill Johnson, Todd White, Benny Hinn, Rodney Howard-Browne and Heidi Baker, (among others). YWAM sends out so many missionaries every year, and they train them in the dominionist “7 Mountain/Sphere Mandate.”

We do indeed live in a time of huge confusion and deception.

Indeed. I used to study cointel-pro which are government operatives, and how they spread disinformation before I became a Christian. These apostates actually work in similar fashions. They are fairly obvious the way they all band together.

While we're on the subject of Bill Johnson, and Todd White. You can add Francis Chan and John MacArthur to the list. MacArthur actually keeps a fairly squeaky clean public profile but his academy is a real cult. Another is Mike Bickle of cult/school IHOP (International House of Prayer).

It's sad to see all this happening. Especially when it's happening in your own backyard. It really hits home. I'm sorry to hear about your family succumbing to these false teachers. Keep praying for them so Jesus will break their chains. God Bless!

I agree with you friend that none of those you listed are good influences. Sadly I’d say most churches, though not all, are just trying to please everyone.

Try to voice your concerns, but do so respectfully and be willing to listen to others.

I don't much care for most CCM being presented at my church (we have a mostly traditional service but the organist loves this stuff), because I don't think alot of it is compatible with our theology or spirituality. But it's popular with some people who no doubt tune in to Christian radio. I just have to tolerate it, but I'm thinking of becoming more active in my church so that maybe I can voice my concerns.

Most churches have this problem including the one I go to. Just filter it out or leave that church and find another one.

Sadly, most Christians don't know enough of the Bible to make the right discernment and this includes Pastors (or they may know, just don't want to offend its members)

Pastors in my denomination tend to be highly educated about the Bible and theology but laity have tremendous power, and for some church is more about chumming around with friends they have known for years and seeing the cute faces of kids. Those things are good of course, but its not the real reason we should go to church. A sappy sentimental CCM songs isn't going to bother alot of pew sitters like it should, even though I think much of this culture is the equivalent of spiritual junk food.

The more research one does, the more one realizes how interconnected so much of this is.

So many are being taught in the NAR that they are building God’s kingdoms for Him and that the Gospel is about changing this world. They don’t really, if ever, mention the clear teaching of Scripture about a “great falling away” and the coming tribulation, or that this world is going to pass away.

It’s “the gospel of the kingdom” (that they are building) now, and not the true Gospel that calls people out of this world.

Well, there's some truth about emphasizing the Kingdom but the NAR thinks about it in political, dominionist terms. This is not a proper understanding of the Reign of God. As the old hymn goes "...but with deeds of love and mercy, the heavenly kingdom comes".

In my mind its just really a rehashing of the same impulses that have been with us since the beginning in the US, but in a new Pentecostal package. It's moving away from the Pietist side of American evangelicalism into the political side of Puritanism.

The main issue is that their view of the “kingdom” is that THEY are the ones preparing/building it, not God.

Jesus plainly said that HE went to prepare a place for us and that His kingdom (at this time prior to His return) is not of this world.

There will be a new heavens and a new earth and the”former things” will pass away.

Um. I think Hillsong is actually really nice to listen to. I'm not there to be edified theologically, I'm there to listen to songs of praise and worship. I don't know about the performers personally though, but I'm not really into idolizing people enough to look into their lives (famous or not)

I don't have a problem with the music much, except to say that I find the style rather boring and formulaic. Sometimes the lyrics are quite shallow and even juvenile, but Hillsong has admittedly made an effort to produce better theology in its songs in recent years.

I do think that Bill Johnson et al. Are problematic. And I'm a card-carrying charismatic.

I agree. When members of the church ask about the songs they're singing, while in church, especially young people, they find Bethel churc

It's about the whole church, not just what you or I get from it. When false doctrines enter the church, it affects everyone.

But are they promoting the guy or exposing his teachings?

What would Jesus actually do if he stood against apostates?
Just stay in the manger?

"what does it matter?

This is the exact question that jesus culture and hillsong fans like to ask. What matters is that these bands were created to get their hooks into the youth, and influence them into a false church. Do you think that matters?

The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice."

From false motives? So if the band is trying to entice the youth into Bethel church, that's ok because they mention Jesus? Do you realize the Jesus that they preach loves not just homosexuals, but also homosexuality? They teach that Jesus is a man and not God, that he needed to be reborn, that he was simply an example of how to live and not our redeemer. Are you rejoicing because of these teachings?

This is why is matters. Bethel church owns these bands and Bethel is teaching false doctrines in their churches. Not only are they teaching false doctrines, they are practicing kundalini activations which also is demonic.

So when I see this at my local churches, it concerns me. Because people without discernment are welcoming this because the music "sounds nice", they love "j"esus (with a small j) so what does it matter?

Apparently this all has been out of sight, out of mind for me since I left the Assemblies of God church in 2007. Now I’m remembering some of why I really didn’t like singing Hillsong’s music or promoting their teachings. (Thankfully my old church wasn’t WoF or NAR; not all Pentecostals or Charismatics follow that). It looks like Bethel also left the AoG right around the time I left. I had serious problems with their teachings even back then, but I didn’t realize though how far their teachings have continued moving away in the past 10+ years.

You may not idolize the individual artists, but your post would indicate that you idolize their music. And this is how they get to our youth.
