Where the rich man is wicked and the poor man is rich in spirit?

This isn't always true, of course. I think it's because having too much and money can make some forget their roots and corrupt a few. I don't like to phrase it as God making it like this, however; He gave us free will, and people make it like this.

Some people think it’s that way already.

I can only imagine that a certain amount of poverty breeds humility and dependence on God. The reality is that all people are more valuable than whatever their bank balance might be. Some rich blowhard needs God just as badly as his impoverished counterpart.

The difference is that the poor probably have no illusions about how much they need God.

Be careful in making black and white judgments about any one person, group, or thing or anything...

It's dangerous ground... gives rise to sin of the worst, yet also most subtle kinds (of sins), of all kinds (of sin or sins)...

God Bless!

Hi john,

I'd advise that you pay attention to brinny's response. God made a perfect creation. It is the work of sin that so easily entangles that has gotten us, over 6,000 years, to the point we find ourselves in now. The pride and ego and selfishness and hate and bitterness of our individual hearts is why the world is as it is. It has literally infected everyone, according to the Scriptures. There is no one righteous. No, not one. Some are 'less' sinful than others, but there is not a one of us who is truly representative of what God asks of us. We all have our little prideful egos and our little lusts for pleasure. We all have our 'others' that we don't like that aren't like us. We are all sinners!

Thus, the world has become a very, very wicked place. However, do not be dismayed. God has provided a way out. A way that we can overcome this life and not live with all of the rampant sin that destroys. That provision is Jesus. God has promised that for all those who will love, trust and believe Him, that through the sacrifice of Jesus, we can have life abundantly as we were created to have. We will live eternally with God where He will be our God and we will be His people, and in full agreement with others, we will live lives of peace and joy. Praise God! All it requires of each one of us, is that we trust and believe. That we love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, strength and mind. For all those who love God will not be put to shame.

And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. (Romans 5:5)

God bless,
In Christ, ted

Human history is a reenactment on the earth of the angelic rebellion, and the resulting chaos and destruction, and will have a similar end but followed by a new heaven and earth.

Where the rich man is wicked and the poor man is rich in spirit?

Why can't it be the opposite.

Only the rich are righteous and the poor are wicked. God let it the opposite though.

First, I don't think God "made it" that way, he put us here and for the most part left everything else up to us.

As to the rich man being wicked, i think that's more like, the wicked become rich, and because that's all they have to shoot for.

And on the good people being poor, part of that is, they aren't willing to do some of the low down things a wicked man is more than willing to do in order to obtain their wealth. But something they sometimes, but don't often get into their heads, being fair to people in general can get us rich too, which brings be to my last point...the poor/Christians can be just as wealthy.

Christians often think they should remain poor or in some cases, that's their excuse for being lazy.

If every Christian in the world, got busy, got rich and hired/gave to the poor, and/or taught other Christians how to make money as well, and in turn they did the same for others, pretty much no one would be poor, or overworked, and there would be plenty left over to help the helpless.

And I think that would thrill God.

But I'm afraid that would be to much like doing unto others as you would have them do unto you for most Christians to handle. ;)

If He knew it was all going to happen, and all go the way it was all going to go, from the moment of making it (all), then He made it (all) (and us) just the way we are, or it is, (right now) (us and the world)... The only questions we need to be asking ourselves is: "Why"...?

If He knew it all, and did it all (anyway) then He made and meant, for both it and us, to be just the way it is, and we are, right now....

He (now depending on which "He" you are talking about here), anyway, "He" did not put it all here (and us), to be "left all up to us", just not the way it happens and/or happens or goes or went down with the "true highest God" (the true Father God) or this God I speak of here...

God Bless!

Bingo I think. Also when a person is facing their own death more immediately, it tends to help them know what matters among things they know, or even helps them remember. The huge danger in being rich are the many extra distractions and temptations it opens I think.

There are many rich people far from God.

Israel often prospered and then went far astray. It's human nature. Jesus gives us an invaluable help to know what matters for us:

19“There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

22“The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

25“But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’

27“He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family,28for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

29“Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

30“ ‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

31“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ ”
Luke 16 NIV

"Human nature" is exactly what is needing salvation.

"Human nature" is sin.

That is why we ALL need the "regeneration" that only the living God can give, through the sacrifice, blood, and death of His only begotten Son.

Our "human nature" is the very antithesis to anything of the living God, my friend.

Not to sidetrack, but that difference between foreseeing all ultimate things on the one hand, and the separate and further going viewpoint of total predeterminism (that all is predestined even in small details) on the other hand, these 2 understandings aren't the same thing (one assumes many extra things), and the 2nd is only a guess, not the only view that fits the scripture, and we can simply humbly remember it's a mystery about those more fine details, which is not told to us, but instead the wording only locks down as definite that in the only way that matters, the ultimate way, God planned to make a way for us, and has. I think here God has given us real choices to make, a key moments, about what way our souls will go. And He helps us. Praise the Lord.

Well. almighty then. lol
Name that movie quote, K...?

"No, wrong... Choice is an illusion between those with power and those without power... "Why" is the only real source of power, without it one is powerless, and here you come to me (because you were told to) without the "why" and without power... And since I have seen how good you are at "following orders", go back to the fortuneteller and give her this message: her time is almost up..."

"Causality... cause and effect... we are forever slaves to it, why is the only real source of power", ect...

God Bless!
