Does it or does it just elements of Christianity or leadership?
100% religion and government should be kept wholly separated. Christianity [or any religion] should not be part of a government - otherwise you have a theocracy and not a democracy.

Prior to Jesus' return, an ideal government must be dispassionate. Spirit-filled individuals occupying key posts in said system will only serve to improve it.

Checks and balances serve to resist the abuse of power, but Holy Spirit navigation/blessing can improve a government's efficiency.

I'm not sure I understand the question.

Christianity is neither for or against democratic government.

If you're asking whether or not a country needs to be Christian for it to be democratic, not necessarily. I think the reason democratic republics became so prominent in the west is because the Church had always understood it was a separate estate and not the civil authority but the religious authority. Islam never had that distinction, nor did Asiatic countries.

The world`s largest democratic population in India is around 80% Hindu.

And India has a stable democracy even given a social situation that has every reason to militate against a stable democracy.

I suspect it's actually Hinduism--particularly the concept of kharma--that enables their stability.

Does a nation need to first be Christian, before it can become a democracy? Democracy simply means ruled by voting by the people . . . as far as I know. And people can be wrong so there is not Christian government.

Biblical rulership is Colossians 3:15 >

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

So, truly Christian government is by theocracy of how our Father rules us in His own peace in our hearts. And in ruling His people He has used kings and apostles; however, there is interpersonal discussion in deciding what we do; so there is democratic process of some sort in the mix, I would say.
Christianity [or any religion] should not be part of a government - otherwise you have a theocracy and not a democracy.
Even so, Colossians 3:15 commands we are ruled by the theocracy of however our Heavenly Father rules us in His own peace in our hearts. And in case anyone does less >

"without Me you can do nothing," Jesus says in John 15:5.

Christianity is neither for or against democratic government.
To me, Romans 13 indicates how God is able to use any secular authority person for His good. But the good may be mainly or only outward. And then it is up to us to benefit spiritually thanks to God ruling in us :)

To split hairs, that's the Thearchy. A theocracy is the rule of clergy. (That hasn't always worked out so well.)

What I observe is that the Holy Spirit and the Body of Christ are able to operate in an orderly society--even an oppressive orderly society--much better than they can operate in complete anarchy.

For instance, the Church has grown ten-fold in North Korea since the mid 90s. Yet, it can't get a substantial foothold in South Somalia, where there is almost no semblance of social order.

The ancient Greeks had democracies.
Indeed. Since they invented "democracy" (Greek for "rule of the people") and they were idol worshipers, democracy could be seen as a pagan concept.

Democracy could be compared to the intention of the tower of Babel. "We don't need God, we don't need His laws. We can pass our own laws and govern ourselves better than God can govern us."

Agreed. So why do you think so many denominations are based on democracy rather than some other structure?

They run out of options, if they don't/won't recognize the five-fold ministries...
