I don't think he should. I think he should commute Manafort's prison sentence but leave any repayment of back taxes and penalties intact.
Why commute the prison sentence?I don't think he should. I think he should commute Manafort's prison sentence but leave any repayment of back taxes and penalties intact.
Why commute the prison sentence?
That's not how it works. He broke the law. Just because the DOJ found out because of a different investigation doesn't mean that he should get off without the stated consequences. He's already facing only a fifth of the amount of jail time he should be based on the sentencing guidelines.Because he never should have been under investigation to begin with. He wasn't suspected of any crime.
Why not?Because he never should have been under investigation to begin with.
Why not?
If I was investigated for selling drugs and the police found evidence that I had been selling drugs and also killed someone, the DA couldn't indict me for both selling drugs and committing murder?
True.If you were investigated for selling drugs someone would have suspected you of selling drugs.
True.
So you are saying the Manafort wasn't suspected of committing certain crimes? If so, what makes you believe that?
You keep saying that he wasn't suspected of a crime but won't tell me what leads you to believe that.He wasn't suspected of any crime. It seems unfair to send a man to prison who wasn't suspected of a crime.
Ken Starr did the same thing to a couple dozen friends of Bill Clinton in the 90s. It wasn't fair then and it isn't fair now.
He has another sentencing coming up this week, I don't personally think he should get a harsher sentence than Cohen received, just my thoughtsI don't think he should. I think he should commute Manafort's prison sentence but leave any repayment of back taxes and penalties intact.
Apparently the White House wants to get into the business of rewarding those who cheat on their taxes, engage in witness tampering and lie and/or refuse to cooperate with the FBI!I don't think he should. I think he should commute Manafort's prison sentence but leave any repayment of back taxes and penalties intact.
I don't know what information lead Mueller to investigate Manafort. Do you?
What was Clinton's friends suspected of doing?
Apparently the White House wants to get into the business of rewarding those who lie and/or refuse to cooperate with the FBI!
Cohen publically admitted his guilt, didn't engage in witness tampering, cooperated with the Special Investigator and testified repeatedly before Congress to get a sentence that's only 11 months shorter than Manafort - that's a travesty of justice in itself! He has another sentencing coming up this week, I don't personally think he should get a harsher sentence than Cohen received, just my thoughts
No, he should serve out his sentence. If he becomes eligible for a parole, then let him out if he has been a model citizen like all other felons have to do.I don't think he should. I think he should commute Manafort's prison sentence but leave any repayment of back taxes and penalties intact.
No, he should serve out his sentence. If he becomes eligible for a parole, then let him out if he has been a model citizen like all other felons have to do.
Manafort had all the benefits and advantages to which most Americans can only aspire, and yet he lived a life of entitlement demonstrating a contempt for the law, without showing an once of remorse or regret until he was actually being sentenced! He wasn't suspected of any crime. It seems unfair to send a man to prison who wasn't suspected of a crime.
Ken Starr did the same thing to a couple dozen friends of Bill Clinton in the 90s. It wasn't fair then and it isn't fair now.
Manafort wasn't investigate because he was a friend of Trump. He was investigated because he was, for a time, the chairman of the Trump presidential campaign. He wasn't suspected of any crime. It seems unfair to send a man to prison who wasn't suspected of a crime.
Ken Starr did the same thing to a couple dozen friends of Bill Clinton in the 90s. It wasn't fair then and it isn't fair now.
He isn't going to jail because someone suspected he committed a crime. He's going to jail because he committed multiple crimes. He wasn't suspected of any crime. It seems unfair to send a man to prison who wasn't suspected of a crime.
Just because he wasn't suspected of committing crimes before it was found out that he did indeed commit crimes means he shouldn't go to jail? That makes no sense.Ken Starr did the same thing to a couple dozen friends of Bill Clinton in the 90s. It wasn't fair then and it isn't fair now.
