I don't think he should. I think he should commute Manafort's prison sentence but leave any repayment of back taxes and penalties intact.
Why commute the prison sentence?

Because he never should have been under investigation to begin with. He wasn't suspected of any crime.
That's not how it works. He broke the law. Just because the DOJ found out because of a different investigation doesn't mean that he should get off without the stated consequences. He's already facing only a fifth of the amount of jail time he should be based on the sentencing guidelines.

Why not?

If I was investigated for selling drugs and the police found evidence that I had been selling drugs and also killed someone, the DA couldn't indict me for both selling drugs and committing murder?

If you were investigated for selling drugs someone would have suspected you of selling drugs.

True.
So you are saying the Manafort wasn't suspected of committing certain crimes? If so, what makes you believe that?

He wasn't suspected of any crime. It seems unfair to send a man to prison who wasn't suspected of a crime.

Ken Starr did the same thing to a couple dozen friends of Bill Clinton in the 90s. It wasn't fair then and it isn't fair now.

You keep saying that he wasn't suspected of a crime but won't tell me what leads you to believe that.
I don't know what information lead Mueller to investigate Manafort.

What was Clinton's friends suspected of doing?

He has another sentencing coming up this week, I don't personally think he should get a harsher sentence than Cohen received, just my thoughts

Apparently the White House wants to get into the business of rewarding those who cheat on their taxes, engage in witness tampering and lie and/or refuse to cooperate with the FBI!

If anyone other than a Republican president was even contemplating a Manafort pardon, conservatives would be going "ballistic," preaching to the rest of us about their unwavering commitment to the rule of law!

Cohen publically admitted his guilt, didn't engage in witness tampering, cooperated with the Special Investigator and testified repeatedly before Congress to get a sentence that's only 11 months shorter than Manafort - that's a travesty of justice in itself!

If Manafort gets a pardon, Americans will be literally storming the White House chanting "Do you here the People sing, singing the Songs of angry Men ..."

No, he should serve out his sentence. If he becomes eligible for a parole, then let him out if he has been a model citizen like all other felons have to do.

Maybe if he's lucky he can become a right-wing radio personality. It worked for G. Gordon Liddy and Oliver North!

Manafort had all the benefits and advantages to which most Americans can only aspire, and yet he lived a life of entitlement demonstrating a contempt for the law, without showing an once of remorse or regret until he was actually being sentenced!

Manafort was incarcerated before his trial for witness tampering - a behavior one usually associates with those engaged in organized crime!

Manafort wasn't investigate because he was a friend of Trump. He was investigated because he was, for a time, the chairman of the Trump presidential campaign.

Paul Manafort is a long time denizen of Washington's swamp and an example of what is broken in America's politics. Trump would be betraying his campaign pledge to drain the swamp, if he were to pardon him.

He isn't going to jail because someone suspected he committed a crime. He's going to jail because he committed multiple crimes.

Ken Starr did the same thing to a couple dozen friends of Bill Clinton in the 90s. It wasn't fair then and it isn't fair now.
Just because he wasn't suspected of committing crimes before it was found out that he did indeed commit crimes means he shouldn't go to jail? That makes no sense.
