I don’t support being a psychic any more than I support being naturally good at using a knife. It’s a thing. It just is. One cannot alter it. One can’t support being it or not being it. It just is.

Have natural psychic powers. Don’t have them. I don’t care. One can’t control being naturally good at things or not naturally good at things. You don’t wake up and say “I think I’ll be naturally good at being psychic today.”

If you’re going to have natural psychic talent and use it in ways that are bad or dangerous or harmful to you or others, that’s where you go wrong.

If you’re good with a knife and you use it to kill your neighbor, saying “well I’m just good with knives, it’s my talent” that isn’t an excuse. You control the talent, not the possession or receiving of the talent.

Having the ability doesn’t make you bad, being a jerk about how you use it does.

Same with psychic powers. Simply having them doesn’t make you bad. I suspect an overwhelming majority of the people you know believe they have some sort of gift of sight or gut feelings or intuition or whatever they want to call it. That doesn’t make them automatically bad. Telling them they’re automatically bad or dabbling with the devil gut feelings or intuition makes you the one in the wrong.

But when we read the Bible, we see that even children can be demon possessed. Nothing is said at how they became possessed. Yet, Jesus was able to set them free. There was a man born blind, yet Jesus healed Him. I see someone claiming to have natural psychic ability as a partial influence of something demonic upon that person. In other words, the enemy can influence humans to believe certain things or to see things; Especially if those people are involved in the occult in some way.

But Jesus is the light of this world; He came into this world to save mankind and to shine out the darkness.
I believe God can open people's eyes to the truth.

This is not in my timing, but in God's timing.
I just plant seeds, and another waters;
But is it God that gives the increase.

May you and your family be blessed in the Lord.

I never heard this. Do you have any evidence to back that might indicate where it happened?[/QUOTE
It’s been a fair amount of time since I heard the story. However, the way I heard it could have been 2nd person. I’ve heard or read a number miraculous stories that I believe in. In the cases of superhuman strength like being able to lift the back of car at a time of great need is probably an Angel doing the lifting.

Satan is a master of nothing, and it is sub-Christian to think he has some autonomous power that is not under God's providence.

Metaphor, FD, simple metaphor.

If we are talking about psychic psychics, anybody with even a passing understanding of the Bible knows that the word of God comes through spontaneous visions, unknown insights, voices, and other “unexplainable” means.

Except they are not unexplainable. What causes you to believe that? God moves man through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Hi Family,

How do you identify those who are practicing witchcraft IN the church?

What do you do once you have identified said witchcraft?

How do you address the person?

What responsibility does the pastor have to the congregation to address the issue?

How do you believe witchcraft can impact the church?

~Natsumi Lam~

So what witchcraft do you believe is occurring in the church?

Do you have some examples?

The term "witchcraft" is the Greek word "Pharmakia"which is where we get the English word Pharmaceuticals. It refers to making or using a potion, not the act of speaking spells. It makes a bit of sense. We have a symptom, which is the body's signal that something is wrong, and we take drugs which simply mask the symptom, thus leaving the cause to persist.

There are a lot of drugs, like properly used antibiotics--that do actually resolve the cause.

Well, there are a lot of Christian groups that “practice witchcraft” albeit a “Christian” form of it. Some even call themselves Christian Witches.
I practiced witchcraft before I became a Christian.

What is the "Christian form" of witchcraft they were practicing?

What was the witchcraft you were practicing?

I do know for a fact Satanists exist and are not merely an urban legend, but they are mostly disturbed youth, often angry and using the symbols of pop Christianity. Wicca is another religion altogether, and should not be confused.

Or in the case of one school/church friend I've known since high school, he's an angry 36 year old atheist edgelord who thinks he's being provocative and "cool" who thinks that posting images of baphomet and claiming to be a Satanist is "giving it to the man". I guess he thinks that he's going to get Christians to freak out and start some condemnation raid against him, and he can then feel self-righteous in his rejection of the religion of his youth. Or that's what it comes across. Personally, when I see his posts on my Facebook news feed it just comes across as acting out an adolescent fantasy as a full grown adult. He doesn't get the kind of reactions I think he thinks he was going to get.

You're kidding!!!

Wicca is a modern syncretic Neo-Pagan religion created in the 1950's by a man named Gerald Gardner. A lot of Neo-Pagan religions are attempts to re-invent older pagan traditions, such as Celtic Paganism, or Germanic Paganism, or Hellenic Paganism (etc). Wicca is a mish-mash of generalized European folklore turned religious tradition. A lot of it has no basis in historic Pagan traditions from Europe, but is more of a product of contemporary romanticism, as opposed to serious historical scholarship.

But, no, Wicca isn't Satanism. They are utterly different things. The same way that Buddhism isn't Satanism.

Nobody is under any obligation to entertain absurd and insulting notions. I heard Linda said that Sally once knew Abby, which begs the question, do you hate puppies?

Hence the quotes around the word “unexplainable.”
