Too bad, but if you’re satisfied merely receiving then that’s where you’ll stay. Mature Christians move on to want to know Christ, and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings.
Well of course, and that's certainly me too. But it starts with us receiving God's love.
If we don't have his love, and are filled with his love, anything we do will be out of duty; works, to try and impress and win favour - and they will fail.
It's never that way around. GOD has taken the first step; he GAVE himself to us. We would be foolish not to receive, and want to receive, all that he has for us.
Ephesians 1:3 - blessed in the heavenly realm with
every spiritual blessing.
1 Corinthians 12:28, Romans 12:6-8 and Ephesians 4:11 - blessed with gifts to serve God and build up the church.
When Paul tells us to be filled with the Spirit, the word means "continually" - keep on being filled with the Spirit. It's not a one time only event - "here's my Holy Spirit; now you're on your own."
God continually gives us his love, his time, his help, encouragement, wisdom, strength and so on; he wants us to receive and have these things so that we can serve him and proclaim the Gospel, as we've been commanded to do.
How do you suggest we know Christ, without receiving what he has for us - his power, love, encouragement, correction and so on? KNOWING Christ = relationship; relationship involves giving and receiving.
