Politicians all over the world seem to be in a total mess and have lost the plot. (that's presuming they ever had it to begin with)

Well there's not another politician who has disgracefully mocked the glasses of Chinese officials in a rambling speech riddled with false claims. That's what Donald Trump did. That is what this thread is about.

Trump mocks glasses worn by Chinese officials in rambling speech riddled with false claims

President suggests he personally negotiated release of US basketball players detained in China during bizarre monologue

Alec Baldwin should do an SNL sketch where he just reads one of Trump's speeches verbatim and see if Trump wigs out about it.
Well, that's our Donald.

This was apropos of what? "Addressing US governors during a business session meeting on Monday, the president made several factually-questionable claims." Factually-questionable - that's polite.

Like it or not, he is a reflection of the U.S.A. We elected him. He is who we are.:sigh:

That's the shame of it. He reflects of the US even though most Americans did not vote for him. It was actually just a minority of Americans who did. He lost the popular vote by the largest margin in US history, by millions. Then there were all the folks who didn't vote at all on election day. Then the folks who couldn't vote on account of not being 18 yet that year, etc.

Sorry, I was just trying to say that worldwide we are in a mess with politicians.
As I live in Australia I thought I may be insulting to comment on Trump and it would annoy some.
I would say he is a clown but a very dangerous one. The way he carries on is akin to a brat in the schoolyard. He insults people yet is the leader of a powerful country and should at the very least know how to keep his mouth shut.
Sadly he was voted in and you are stuck with him until he gets voted out.

No worries, as I think y'all say in Australia. :)

From what I understand, in Australia folks are required to vote. One of our big problems is that many folks eligible to vote don't. Some truly have a hard time voting on account of practical reasons & problems such as it taking too dang long at polling places, others are simply apathetic.

Wait, what? That hardly looks like mocking.

Just the other day, I saw him having a very cordial discussion with China on progress with trade and possibly fixing the currency issues. Both sides sounded happy. Then I click the OP's link and it's literally 1 sec out of Trump telling a story... and the sky is falling.

Like it or not, he is a reflection of the U.S.A. We elected him. He is who we are.:sigh:

Donald Trump is the result of how the traditional right wing Christian values of the Republican Party were tossed to the wayside to gain conservative political power and influence within the government.

Donald Trump, the twice divorced admitted adulterer in his third marriage to his former mistress, who paid off a inappropriate content star to silence her about their affair, and who bragged about sexually groping multiple women is now representing the same political party that has boasted for years about being the party of traditional family values and Christian morality. The credibility for them to claim that now is gone.

The Republican Party that has spent years judging and condemning Bill Clinton for his sexual deviant behavior, adultery and sexual scandals while he was still the President now defensively insists that Donald Trump shouldn't be judged for his sins because his sins are between him and God.

The Republican Party that spent years condemning homosexuality for being a sin against God now supports and defends a man who is an admitted adulterer, who confessed he's never asked God for forgiveness of his own sins and whose perpetual lying habit is well known and well documented.

Many of his Christian supporters make up all kinds of excuses in attempts to dismiss his sinful and immoral behavior when these same Christians point a judgmental finger at any liberal politician for allegedly lying or go on an angry rant about SNL poking fun at Trump and insulting him when Trump himself is well known and well documented for insulting and mocking the people he doesn't like.

I don't think so - where is the first? You must have me confused with someone else.

I find it hard to believe that you don't think it's mocking of Asians when he talks about the glasses and says these asian people "were straight out of central casting"... You don't think there's anything racist about that? Really? You think that's just effusive storytelling?

I agree that some of it is unwarranted, but not in this case. It's pretty bad. Nobody else would go unscathed from doing what he did. As much as he gets undue criticism he also gets away with far more because his supporters blindly support and defend him.

I wish I could find it hard to believe that somebody would claim that Donald wasn't mocking when he was clearly mocking, but I wouldn't even bat an eye nowadays if folks said with seriousness that 2+2=5 if Donald said so.

I think most of the criticism Donald receives is fully deserved. That he actually hasn't been criticized nearly enough for some of the awful things he's done.

OK, how about this. We talk about the topic of the thread in this thread, which is made clear in the thread title: Trump mocks glasses worn by Chinese officials in rambling speech riddled with false claims.

It has to be more comfortable for some people to deflect to anything else or anyone else who isn't Donald Trump. The norm is talking about anything having to do with liberalism and attempting to blame liberals for everything that's wrong in America. If there's a liberal politician caught lying, then let's start ranting about that liberal politician lying, but whenever we see a news story about Trump telling a lie about something or someone, then let's say "Every politician lies! What's the big deal?" or if SNL mocks Trump on their show again, then we should get all upset about that and rant about it while we totally ignore the fact that Trump has repeatedly mocked and insulted people he doesn't like.

[total sarcasm on a generalized scale]

That's kinda correct GB... We are required to present ourselves at a polling place and have our names checked off on a list, but no one checks to see if you actually voted. You can go into a booth, draw a picture of Mickey Mouse on your ballot paper, drop it in the appropriate container and walk out.

And, while its compulsory to attend, we make it a lot easier than you guys. Elections are held on Saturdays when most people are off work and we have many, many polling places (usually at public schools), so queues are generally very short. Last time I voted, it took me a total of about 10 minutes, from the time I parked my car until I was back in it.

Yes voting is compulsory here in Australia and you can also arrange to do a postal vote if you cannot get to a polling station. They also arrange for people in hospital or institutions,to vote by visiting all who will be in on voting day.
The thing I hate here is we have preference voting meaning those outside the two main parties usually do deals with them and give their votes to the party who benefits them the most.
I was actually talking of this today and for the first time in my life am considering not voting but if you put in even a blank vote it is counted as "informal" and they are divided among the two major parties anyway.

I firmly believe in one vote, one value.
No preferences allowed.

The only other thing you can do is not vote for any party but on our ballot papers they have below a line of all parties, every individual person who nominates ( usually number about 50 or more) and if you happen to miss one, that gets counted as informal too. However that is difficult too as most of the names you don't even know.
Australia goes to vote in May this year.

You are mistaken, "WE" did not elect trump--

USA 1016 election
Here are the final numbers:

Clinton received 65,844,610 votes, or 48.2% of the total vote.
Trump received 62,979,636 votes, or 46.1% of the total vote. (That's a difference of 2.86 million votes.)
http://fusion.kinja.com/here-is-the-final-popular-vote-count-of-the-2016-electi-1793864349

It was the Electoral College that got Trump into the White House, not the U.S. citizens vote.
BTW: Few American citizens know what the Electoral College is or who they are.
