I have no idea why I believe what I believe, but I cannot help it. I feel like Jesus has revealed himself to me. But when somebody challenges me, I don't know how to explain my beliefs. I know that a lot of non-Christians will say they are sick of people, like me shoving my beliefs down their throats. But I don't shove my beliefs down their throats. I don't shove my beliefs down their throats because I believe it is wrong, and I still have sin in my life, which I believe I will have victory over. I, in fact, do not post Christians stuff on Facebook any more just so my friends won't get offended. But it is not because I am denying Christ, because my friends know what I believe. But most of my friends, except for 2 are not Christians. My brother, who is a friend on Facebook, is also not a Christian. But he knows what I believe. I do not want to offend him.

But on Facebook, I follow Christian pages, and non-Christians follow it as well. And they, who claim we shove our beliefs in their faces, have challenged me if I make a statement. They would challenge me into a debate saying "prove it." I don't have proof, and why do they care if I believe what I believe? Why do I believe in Christ? Well, I haven't really put my trust in him, and he is convicting me of that, which is why I still have sin in my life and heart. So, I guess you can say I haven't been a true Christian. But all of that is changing for me. But why do I believe in Christianity. I don't know. I am drawn to it. And I cannot explain it.

They will say, "How do you know the Bible was inspired by God?" I can't just say "well, I believe by faith." That doesn't look good. But I do believe that Jesus Christ is Lord. I do believe that some day every knee will bow to Jesus. I do believe that Jesus Christ is coming again. But I also know that mere beliefs will not get you into the kingdom of heaven. Here is a question, which is a question I have to ask myself, when I put my trust in Jesus, what did I trust him for? To save me from hell so that I can continue to sin. NO!! Sin and hell are one and the same. If you claim that Jesus saved you from hell, you claim that Jesus saved you from sin. Sin will always lead to death. And I can't continue to sin and claim salvation. It doesn't work that way. We don't go to heaven for the good things we do. However, we go to hell for the bad things we do. I could give to the poor all day long and continue to lust in my heart. I will still end up in hell. But there is grace through Jesus, which is the ability to say no to that sin. For it is written in Titus 2:11-12, "For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men. It instructs us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live sensible, upright, and godly lives in the present age,"

I have not being using the grace that God has offered me through Jesus Christ. But I am choosing now, to put my complete trust in his son, Jesus for his deliverance.

But why do I believe this? I don't know. All I can say is he has revealed me his truth in my heart. And that is just not enough proof for those who are non-Christians. They will tell me that I am indoctrinated. I don't understand how that is possible, but that is what they say.

I always tell people that a true Christian doesnt need 'proof' as we have 'faith'. Strong faith in God. A deep love and belief in God that cannot be explained.

I like your post. God bless you.

We don't go to heaven for the good things we do. However, we go to hell for the bad things we do.

Not that either. We gain forgiveness for Jesus for everything we do.
Remember Jesus said "Why do you call me 'good'? Only the Father is Good."

So Jesus was explaining that seeking the will of the Father is the only "good"
that their is. You can only get into Hell by rejecting the Father.

It sounds like you are balancing your right to express yourself without trying to offend others very well. They don't have a right not to be offended by your posts to others.

As for explaining your faith, most people have the opposite problem. They know what they believe and why they believe it, but have difficulty getting that reality down into their hearts. You seem to have it in your heart but can't explain it. There's one point when the disciples also were speechless, and neither understood nor could well explain their position. Peter finally simply says to the Lord, "You have the words of eternal life. And we have come to believe You are the holy one sent by God."

Maybe it would help to do a study of Romans, which takes faith from creation, to conscience, to the special revelation of the Bible, and then puts it to work with service and sanctification. In general, stay in the Word looking for the answers you need. And perhaps some good books would help as well.

As for the state of your Christianity, you are making progress, so keep moving forward. As long as you don't quit, you win.

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. -Phil 1.6 -Phil 1.6

It is impossible to prove to others, through external means, what you have directly experienced for yourself internally (Jesus' revelation to you).

I'm the same way. I enjoy reading Christian Apologetics (useful stuff), and listening to several podcasts centered on it, but I dislike debating or explaining my faith to non-believers. Not all Christians are called to Apologetics. I've always felt more at home with irenics and working out issues with those within the faith. To me it's more interesting and something I'm better at. We're all different and have different areas I think God calls us to :)

Oh, some of them tell me the same thing, Introverted. But don't worry about it. It just means that you have a faith more in line with the likes of Blaise Pascal and/or Soren Kierkegaard. And that's ok.

God bless you, buddy!

But why do I believe this? I don't know.
I got to a point in my faith, where I wanted to know, and it all unraveled from there. I suggest that if you want to keep your faith intact, stay away from any and all information that would oppose your faith.

There's a saying among seminary students, 'no one graduates with their faith intact.' Think about that for a moment.
