If John the Beloved was the beloved and most trusted of Christ who didn't mind his writing down their work....

Furthermore, the chronological order of the New Testament places the Books and Epistles of John as the last written books of the New Testament, making it the "last word" on Christ's Gospel.....In addition to confirming the teachings of the Book of James who coincidentally happens to be the first written book of NT (chronological order).

Then why has those books received the least importance in the Christian religion? The least preached in churches? Worse, the context of those books received less (even probably the least) importance than the others.

It doesn't follow sound reasoning the one most favored by the Christ, set the last word, and confirmed the first book of NT would be given the least importance in our religion....

Why, why why? Deceived we all are? Refusing to acknowledge truth? Was Christ right, only FEW will find the way which leads to life?

2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

Jude 1:4
For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

That's far from obvious.

Then why has those books received the least importance in the Christian religion?

That's simply not true. To take one example, out of 87 Scripture references in the Belgic Confession (a classic summary of Reformed faith),

Four are from the epistles of John (5%):
  • 1 John 2:1
  • 1 John 4:1
  • 1 John 5:7
  • 2 John 1:10

Six are from the gospel of John (7%):
  • John 1:3
  • John 1:5
  • John 3:27
  • John 6:44
  • John 15:5
  • John 14:6

Two are from Revelation (2%):
  • Revelation 20:12
  • Revelation 7:17
That's 12 (14%) in total.

The least preached in churches?

That's not true either.

That is because The Gospel of John proclaims that eternal life is by faith,belief,trust and man (a majority of mankind) want to work their way to eternal life.

So they ignore the one Book of the Bible who's stated purpose for being written, is to tell people how to have life (eternal life) by faith,belief,trust.

Nobody that I know is ignoring John.

Concerning belief according to John:

John 14:12
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

That confirms James teaching that "faith without works is dead".

That's simply not true. To take one example, out of 87 Scripture references in the Belgic Confession (a classic summary of Reformed faith),

CRCNA = 234,819 members (2017)
CRCN = 73,692 member (2014)
CRCA = 9,000 members

Very few compared to the mainstream denominations. And confession doesn't really count as teaching.

Easy - they haven't.

You might want to ask why Christians have begun to assign a greater importance to non-canonical writings than they do the Gospels themselves, St. John's included.

And FWIW, many if not most scholars believe that John the Beloved and John the Revelator were not the same person. Yochanan was apparently a popular name in those days.

Which is, of course, the verse always cited to those whose doctrine doesn't agree with ours. :oldthumbsup:

I'll bite, what are CRCN, CRCA, and CRCNA, and why shoukld we care about them?

Kinda difficult to pry them apart, wouldn't you say?

Epistles of John is Canon, they're in the Bible after all.

The Belgic Confession of 1561 is a core document of the Protestant Reformation. It's not just the CRC that uses it -- they just conveniently had it on their website.

And I picked the Belgic Confession as an example of how theology is built on Scripture. You could do the same for any modern theology book. For example, roughly 10% of Scripture references in Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology are from John. Ditto for Charles Hodge's Systematic Theology.

Christian Reformed Church North America, Netherlands, and Australia.

The problem is that is they are minority based on the numbers of the members. The majority rarely reads from books/epistles of John and often in the wrong context.

Granted, some of the popular Christian verses like John 3:16 and John 10:10 are in John obviously but most have the wrong interpretation of it since having only very little knowledge of the rest of the Book of John.

John was beloved, but that does NOT make him 'most trusted'.

The works of John are NOT least important for Catholics, nor least preached. I think they are proportionally more important and more preached than the rest of the Bible. They are NOT the center of the Bible, nor are they the fringe. They are a solid part of the whole. Just as the works of Paul should not be removed from the Bible, John should not be supercanon. Both are canon, both trustworthy, neither worthy of dismissal. And John is not dismissed in my experience.
