what do you think it will be like?

Do you think our bodies will be like they are now(organs & gender) just perfected in the sense that our bodies cannot die?
Do you think that we will each have a perfect mate(partner)? I know there is no marriage in Heaven BUT God made Eve to be with Adam so he was not alone.
Could it be like a spouse but without lust or marriage because everyone knows that is our other half (if that makes sense)?
Do you think there will be technology?
Do you think there will be animals?
I know we cannot possibly imagine all the glory it will be.
I’m just wondering others thoughts on it.
This is a happy thread, with happy comments. :)

There is a book called "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn that I haven't finished reading, but it touches on this curiosity of yours. So far, it is a decent book so far and I have gained insight from it.

Since the new world will be on a renewed earth, the habitation of our resurrected and glorified bodies, likely there will be mountains and hills, valleys and maybe ravines. It will be this earth without the effects of the fall, everything will be restored and actually better than this earth. Imagine, every conversation we will ever have will be fixated, motivated, and centered on the Jesus Christ and all for his glory alone. Music will be more rich and with profound depth of meaning with our perfected and fully sanctified hearts in that kingdom.

Don't take this for scripture. Not that I can't show this from scripture, but that I'm not sure it is accurate, and certainly it can be misleading, no matter how well I say it: When we get to Heaven we will see ourselves as we are because we will see him as he is. I think that will be the first big deal we can absorb without dying. (The bible uses "sons of God are revealed")

But just seeing him as he is, reveals us, I think. It will consume us so much that we would be exhausted and cease to function simply through intensity of effort were God himself not our very strength and sustenance. And I think that will continue throughout eternity. And among the best universal paradoxes: In this very way of life, he is our rest.

I also have the idea that the New Jerusalem is the very Bride of Christ herself --the Church, The Dwelling Place of God, we, the body of Christ, bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh.

I don't think we have much of an idea how it all works, but I think the streets of apparently transparent gold, and so many other things, described, are not just made for us, but it is us that he went there to build. At present we don't see what he is doing to us, but we know he feels the pain of it more than we do. I may be part of the street --what do I know, except he will delight in every step there?

But take all that and try to remember it. It is not orthodox, not accepted fact, among Bible believing theologians. I don't know if it is true, but I believe it, not really even knowing what it means or how it will happen.

I think this is why God created. It is for his own glory, primarily, not for our exaltation, but we will become something worthy, finally, full of love for God, and having no opposing interests to that. Yet even that still is God in us.

Keep reading the Bible --long passages. Desire him with all your heart.

There will be no marriage, no need for it, we will be married to God.
We have technology here on earth, there is a chance we could have it there to.
Yes, there are animals
You are correct, we cant even imagine how great it will be

I'm not exactly sure how it will be but I'd rather encourage people to not think it's such a long way off. Even if we lived here 80, 90 or 100 years of age....really.....when you get up to higher ages when you look back a part of you will say it seems like life went whipping by. I'm over 60 now but sometimes wonder was it really that long ago that I was a kid? My brain wants to tell me you really must be only 40 but I'm not. ^_^

The way you've framed your question, it would probably be better suited for Eschatooogy or General Theology, since it invites a lot of speculation.

This is Traditional Theology, and Christianity through the ages has many very important things to say about the state of the human soul after death, but they don't focus overmuch on the kinds of questions you ask.

We will likely have no need of sexual designation, though our identities will persist. Whether that includes our sex by means of personality I cannot say, but external organs will be unnecessary. We will be "like the angels" in a sense. There will be deep and fulfilling relationships, but not the need for exclusive pairings or sexual reproduction. Animals are mentioned in some passages of Scripture. (Not to mention in many ways the world will be restored to the original creation so there is every reason the expect animals.) Technology is an invention of man to deal with the limitations of creation so it will be unnecessary.

I find it intriguing that God will raise these same bodies from the grave, (or from dispersion or whatever happened to them --he knows), these very same bodies, but changed. And not just improved or healed, but the old way of things will be no more.

Hi Bipolargirl,

Interesting questions. These actually point to the purposes of God through Christ. Now God has a very big kingdom stretching from the third heaven through the universe and includes the earth.

God`s word tells us that there will be people of the nations on the new earth. Then there will be people (the righteous men and women, pre-cross) who will populate the New Jerusalem in the Universal sphere. Finally the Body of Christ, with amazing new bodies will go to the third heaven to rule and reign with Christ.

Each realm will have leadership under the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our bodies will not be of the `dust` but a spiritual, heavenly body - immortal, incorruptible, like Christ`s. We are not of the earth or on the earth, for the heavenly is something quite different. `"No eye has seen, no ear heard what God has in store for those who love Him."

Keep looking unto Jesus and we will be ready. Marilyn.

There are two phases that have to be taken into account. At some point before, during or at the end of the tribulation, the dead and alive in Christ will be raised and transformed into new bodies. After the tribulation, a new earth will be created, but the survivors of the tribulation will continue to be married, have children and die for a 1000 years which is called the millennium and those living and dead who where raised and/or transformed will rule with Jesus over the earth. Satan will have been bound up, so temptation will not be a factor until the end of the millennium when Satan is released once more against all the nations. Once this is done, all living and dead will go before God for the final judgement at which time the wicked are cast into the lake of fire along with Satan, and even those who were raised in Christ will have their sins judged and their treasures rewarded. What exactly happens after this is unclear. Do we stay on earth or do we actually go into the realm of heaven? I don't know.

Most of Revelations records the events leading up to and through the tribulation. Chapter 20 is when Satan is bound for the millennial and all the martyrs and those who did not worship the beast were risen to rule with Jesus for the millennium after which all the rest will be risen. 2Thess, 2Cor and even Matthew has additional references to what is referred to as the rapture or those in Christ "caught up" to be with Jesus in the air (or actually before Jesus came all the way to earth). As in anything with the bible, you have to let scripture interpret scripture and do so within the broader context. You can even use passages from Isaiah and Hosea among others to see all is prophesied from the beginning. The more I study the bible, the more I see the consistency of God's plan. The complexity of all scripture in its ability to reveal a fairly straightforward message in a way that hides it from non-believers is truly amazing. It is in that complexity that God can reveal his individual plan for each of us over vast periods of time and contained within the grand scheme of all things.
