I have created a petition against DC Comics. I also recommend hitting DC Comics where it hurts in their bank balance. It is only money they are interested in after all. I urge Christians to boycott their comics, movies, tv shows and memorabilia and get onto their Twitter and Facebook and tell them WHY you are boycotting them. Also, please sign my petition and share it around to raise awareness. We still have time to pull this comic before it hits the shelves in March, which will then lead to the inevitable movie and television series spin-off. Let's nip this in the bud now! https://www.change.org/p/jim-lee-cco-ask-dc-comics-to-pull-their-blasphemous-comic-second-coming

A controversial comic series -- dubbed more "blasphemous than biblical" -- is starring Jesus, but the Son of God isn't the superhero, it's Sun-Man.

"Witness the return of Jesus Christ, as He is sent on a most holy mission by God to learn what it takes to be the true messiah of mankind by becoming roommates with the world’s favorite savior: the all-powerful superhero Sun-Man, the Last Son of Krispex!" the plot summary reads. "But when Christ returns to Earth, he’s shocked to discover what has become of his gospel—and now, he aims to set the record straight."

The Second Coming series, published under DC Vertigo, the adult graphic comic arm of DC Comics, written by Mark Russell and illustrated by artist Richard Pace, will be released in March.

The comic reimagines why Jesus left earth the first time and is coming back again.
"The conceit is that God was so upset with Jesus’ performance the first time he came to Earth since he was arrested so soon and crucified shortly after, that he has kept him locked-up since then," he told Bleeding Cool, a comic-focused news site. "God then sees this superhero on Earth a few thousand years later and says, 'that’s what I wanted for you!'"

I'm not surprised. A decade ago before the New 52, in the Pre-Crisis DC, there was a big controversy (and rightly so) over DC Comics writers' decision to have Superman renounce his American citizenship. The resulting flap and backlash caused them to reverse the move.

Good to know they backpedaled. It proved it can be done.

Now let's again give them flap and backlash and defend our Saviour. It's a very small thing to do for Jesus considering the awe inspiring sacrifice He made for us.

We don't want children reading this trash and believing it.

The world (in this case DC Comics) doesn't cotton to God's ways, ... preferring a champion who wages a never-ending war against the effects of evil hearts, ... rather than focusing on the source (i.e. dealing with the evil hearts that spawn evil).

I will sign your petition ...

I'm very worried that this ludicrous and highly blasphemous idea that Jesus did not overcome the whole world for us. There's an evil message creeping into our culture that somehow suggests that His death was a type of failure. We really need to challenge this disgusting message wherever we find it.
It reminds me of the Pope's heretical pronouncement...

I would ignore it. What they are looking for is publicity. If we ignore it, it would probably fail. If we freak out about it, people will buy it to see what the fuss is about. (Barbara Streisand Beach house effect). The only reason DC is doing this is to court controversy.

It seems dumb from the synopsis in the article

No there wasn't any backpedal and there also wasn't any follow up or comment on the story at all from DC and it was short back up story written in the Action Comics 900th anniversary issue by guest writer David S. Goyer screenwriter of Man of Steel. Considering that and the fact that they were finishing up story lines rather then starting them at the time since the New 52 was about launch seem like it was intended to be just a one shot.

I can't say I'm surprised about the series from what I've read about Vertigo and really it and the other new series will flop pretty fast the comic industry never with these sort of projects.

Sure it might flop but most trends are astroturfed not grassrooted.
Why are kids suddenly obsessed with unicorns? It's because the shops have been pushing them now for over two years relentlessly. When your kids suddenly like unicorns are they born with that? No of course not. They like them because they are relentlessly marketed to. Their school friends have them. They are saturated to the point that they convince themselves that they want it too because of the desire to conform.

My friend has just bought her 5 year old a smart phone (smh). Sure she's a "little bit" worried about the radiation to the skull and brain cancer but all his friends have one.

Can you personally guarantee that this will not be pushed? Can you personally guarantee that even if it flops they won't make a movie?
Can you personally guarantee there won't be a Netflix or an Amazon Prime series?
It isn't always about money. Sometimes they are willing to take a cut or a bullet for the team if it pushes a larger agenda.

Look at this link here. Obscure comics made into films.

15 Most Obscure Comic Books That Were Turned Into Movies

It would be good if Christians weren't so complacent and lukewarm.

I know that Vertigo comics is for adults but that doesn't mean that kids won't see it. Anyway we shouldn't want adults been deceived with false teaching about Jesus.

Would not be suprised if movie/tv deals have already been made. That's how far ahead they plan these deals, years ahead of release to build up the reception for it.

DC Comics to release controversial ‘Second Coming’ of Jesus
Yes I saw this in an email I get weekly and it is sick.
First I was shocked then I thought " it doesn't surprise me" which is a sad thing. There is such opposition to Christianity in the media/ entertainment industry who seem to be forever coming up with bizarre stories but are basically the same old lie from Satan. This one goes beyond that I think because it is actually going to the extreme of rewriting the gospel and you have to ask why?

Or are they saying Jesus is a comic character like Superman? whatever the answer,it is downright wicked and yet another sign of things to come in the last days in which we live.
All the more reason to watch and pray
