Mosaic Law Did Not Enter The Promised Land

In the bible Moses was not allowed to enter the promised land. It is clear that Moses represents the mosaic law, and the Old Covenant, that binds the flesh to God's word. But when Jesus Christ, God become man, came into this world he instituted the New Covenant which did not include the flesh.

The New Covenant of Jesus Christ (Jeremiah 31: 31-34) does not include the flesh, only the heart and mind.

By God not allowing Moses into the promised land God is showing that the Mosaic Law cannot save a person nor will it be allowed to rule over those who find salvation in the saving grace of a belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ - God's only son - God become man.

Ritualistic religious practices are a foolish way of believing that we can earn forgiveness and salvation through the practices of the flesh. Only a belief in Jesus Christ will secure our salvation and forgiveness, nothing more is required.

Jesus Christ endured the wrath of God the Father upon his flesh for the sins of mankind. Jesus Christ was crucified under the Old Covenant so we can enter heaven under the New Covenant with a new body.

In fact, Holy Communion is a remembrance of Jesus Christ enduring the wrath of God on the cross under the Old Covenant in order to usher in the New Covenant of Jesus Christ who is God's only son - God become man.

Believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and rest assured that you'll be included in life eternal with God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit in heaven forever.

Practice God's Greatest Commandment - notice there is no mention of the body, i.e. our flesh. Our flesh is corrupt beyond repair.

Matthew 22:36-40 New International Version (NIV)

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

God Bless

That does not take into account that the Law of Moses (or more properly the TEACHING of Moses) was repeatedly supported by the Hebrew prophets IN THE LAND and in the Diaspora.

Nor does it take into account all of the passages talking about the people turning back to G-d, G-d delivering them time and again, G-d dwelling in the Temple, the Hezekiah renewal, etc.

The old covenant was in full force until the death of Jesus. And, it continued for nearly 40 years after until the destruction of the Temple and the Levite priesthood.

The Torah was given to the whole Nation of Israel (Am Yisrael) THROUGH Moshe just as the New Covenant was given THROUGH Yeshua (mediator between God and man). 1 Timothy 2:5

And much of the Mosaic Law did not even go into force until they had entered the promised land--entering the Promised Land was necessary to put the entire Law into effect.

Yes. That's why the writer of Hebrews, writing between those two events, could only say that the Law was "becoming obsolete," not that it was already obsolete.

Ugmug, I believe, is referring to the types. Moses, who was not allowed into the promised land, was a type of the Law; while Joshua, a type of Christ, led Israel into the promised land. I don't think he had in mind the idea that the Law of Moses was not in effect in the promised land... am I wrong @ugmug?

There was a necessary transition period. "40" years is also symbolic; the time between the death of Christ and the final destruction of the temple; a time of peace, and a space to repent.

Yes.

Hebrews 8:13

Christian Standard Bible
By saying a new covenant, he has declared that the first is obsolete. And what is obsolete and growing old is about to pass away. (and it did)

When Jesus died on the cross, three Gospels report that the curtain of the temple, that barrier between the Holy Place and Most Holy Place, was supernaturally torn in two (see Matthew 27:51; Mark 15:38; and Luke 23:45). The torn curtain symbolized that the way to God was now open to all through the death of Christ (rather than through the ceremonial/sacrifice system). The blood of an animal was no longer needed. Hebrews 10:19–22 explains, “Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings.”

So much confusion is eliminated when it is understood that the law (Torah) never saved anyone and was never intended to... Salvation has always been by grace through faith... as Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD... he was saved yet through faith had to build a boat.

The children of Israel were saved while in Egypt... by faith put blood on the doorpost... after salvation they were brought to the mountain where God shows them how his set-apart holy people are to live.

When we assume there is an age of law vs an age of grace it creates all kinds of incorrect questions. The law most certainly is in full force.

Psalms 19:7-9 ESV
(7) The law [Torah] of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
(8) the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
(9) the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.

Psalms 119:160 ESV
(160) The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.

If the Law can't save, then it has no force. At least, no force that we want to be subjected to:

I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead. Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. -- Romans 7

Do I want to be under the force of the Law? Absolutely not. What I want is this:

I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, -- Romans 1

If the Law can't save, then it has no force. At least, no force that we want to be subjected to:

The force you were subjected to was the consequence of breaking it... death. Yeshua paid the penalty for the curse of death... the consequence for breaking the law... God is just and a penalty must be paid.

Jesus/Yeshua paid that penalty for us... the penalty. That doesn't mean we are free to now go out and break the law...

Romans 6:15 ESV
(15) What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!

The law is for your own protection. When you fall in love with Jesus/Yeshua you will want to keep his law... he says "If you love me keep my commandments"...

The law [Torah] is our guideline for how to love him and our fellow man... it has never been the means for salvation...

Correct, I have written some posts in reply...but I ended up not posting them because there is no point. The user makes absurd proclamations and never bothers to look back at the thread.
