The following is something you can print out to share with friends and family during this time when we celebrate the Savior's birth.
It it the ultimate in fulfilled eschatology.

Adapted from the book… “The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict” by Josh McDowell.

Josh McDowell set out to prove that Christianity was false.

Because of what he found in his research, he became a Christian.

The probability of any man fulfilling just 8 of these is 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000. (17 zeros)

The same thing happened to C.S. Lewis, and Lee Stroebel.

Along with these scriptures, I would suggest you add Daniel chapter 9:24-27. This is the only place where the word 'messiah' is found, and it miraculously predicts when Jesus will be 'cut off' or killed for our 'transgressions'.

In peace

In the defence of the Skeptic, one could certainly make the argument that Christ's story was altered to fit in with the Old Testament prophecies to make him more accurate. I think it's incorrect and has some flaws but nevertheless, we should be careful when trying to proof our Lord in the Old Testament.

I would agree that Daniel 9:24-27 is a great prophecy for Christ and probably the best in the entire Old Testament. One can make a great case for our King's Crucifixion with the seventy sevens prophecy after the Holy City is finished ( landing between 30-33AD).

I do have a bit of an issue with the word "proof" as it still requires faith to believe. I think that humility goes a long way in sharing with others. Maybe "Messianic prophecy fulfilled" would be less abrasive?

Josh McDowell did not rely on faith.

Neither did I. I am a science major who once thought the Bible was made up of fairy tales.

We both relied on mathematical certainty.

The probability of any man fulfilling just 8 of those prophecies is 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000.

Let us put that number into perspective.

That many silver dollars would cover the state of Texas to a depth of 2 feet.

If one of those silver dollars has the name Jesus of Nazareth written on it, what would be the chance of a person finding that one coin on the first try?

That's not really my point.

Hope doesn't come from "certainty" or statistics - hope comes from FAITH.

Wisdom’s Way of Knowing
Knowing and Not Knowing

(Orthodox New Year)

Over-explanation separates us from astonishment. –Eugene Ionesco

We need transformed people today, and not just people with answers. I do not want my too many words to separate you from astonishment or to provide you with a substitute for your own inner experience. We all need, forever, what Jesus described as “the beginner’s mind” of a curious child. A beginner’s mind or what some call “constantly renewed immediacy” is the best path for spiritual wisdom. Tobin Hart writes: “Instead of grasping for certainty, wisdom rides the question, lives the question…. When the quest for certainty and control is pushed to the background, the possibility of wonder returns. Wonder provides a gateway to wise insight” (Information to Transformation, p. 11). - https://cac.org/knowing-not-knowing-2015-01-14/

Hope doesn't come from "certainty" or statistics - hope comes from FAITH.

Millions of people all over the world have "FAITH" in their false religion.

We serve a risen Savior.
We can prove with mathematical certainty that He is the promised Messiah, who did rise from the dead.

That is the "certainty" which we know to be the truth.

I guess part of what I'm trying to say is that the attitude of certainty can drive a wedge between people instead of encouraging a love to be demonstrated. The Bible I read doesn't seem to suggest that we need to form the most convincing argument - we are to love others (and what you shared in your OP can certainly be an example of loving others - I just think the word "proof" is abrasive).

I understand what you are saying.

I wish we had a written record of what Paul said when he was going into the synagogues and arguing that Jesus is the Messiah promised in the Hebrew scriptures.

Modern Orthodox Jewish rabbis skip over Isaiah chapter 53, because they know what will happen to some of the people in their group if they read it...

Don't leave out the great prophecy of Isaiah 61, Luke 4 and Revelation 18.......:ebil:

"DAYS OF VENGEANCE" Isaiah 61:2 and Luke 21:22 Revelation

Isaiah 61:2
To proclaim the year of the good pleasure of Yahweh,
And the day of vengeance of our 'Elohiym, To comfort all mourners.

Luke 4:
17 the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. Unrolling it, He found the place where it was written:
21 and He began by saying,
Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
29 They got up, drove him out of town, and brought him to the edge of the hill that their town was built on, intending to hurl him over the cliff

Luke 21:
22 That days of vengeance these are
, of the to be fulfilled all the having been written.

Matthew 23:37
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! 38 Behold! is being left to ye your house of ye a-wilderness/erhmoV <2048>
Luke 13

34 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her!
35 Behold! is being left to ye your house a-wilderness/erhmoV <2048>

Revelation 18:19
And they cast dust upon their heads and cried-out, weeping and mourning, saying "Woe! Woe! the great City, wherein all were made rich, that had ships at sea, by reason of her prices.
That to one hour She was desolated/hrhmwqh <2049>

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD

In executing the command of Titus, relative to the demolition of Jerusalem, the Roman soldiers not only threw down the buildings, but even dug up their foundations, and so completely levelled the whole circuit of the city, that a stranger would scarcely have known that it had ever been inhabited by human beings. Thus was this great City, which only five months before, had been crowded with nearly two millions of people, who gloried in its impregnable strength, entirely depopulated, and levelled with the ground. And thus, also was our LORD'S prediction, that her enemies should "lay her even with the ground," and "should not leave in her one stone upon another, " (Luke xix. 44.) most strikingly and fully accomplished ! -

The Parousia of Titus Flavius in the First Jewish Revolt: Josephus’ claim that the springs miraculously flowed more freely at Titus’ parousia would be to suggest that Titus was accompanied by divine favor & that God had taken His stand on the side of Rome.

Anne Rice, Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt - When Jewish and Christian scholars begin to really study what happened during the siege of Jerusalem, Bible studies will change. Right now, scholars neglect or ignore the realities of this period

Those people who think Christ left His place in heaven and returned to planet earth during 70 AD are going to be surprised when 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10, and 2 Peter 3:10-13 come to pass.

Peter was looking for the New Heavens and the New Earth, after this rotten, sin-cursed world is burned up.
It will be the time when death dies forever.
It will be the time when the curse is removed forever.

I am looking for the same thing.

Luk 2:1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
Luk 2:2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
Luk 2:3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
Luk 2:4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David)
Luk 2:5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
Luk 2:6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
Luk 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luk 2:8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
Luk 2:9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
Luk 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Luk 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Luk 2:12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
Luk 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Luk 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
