I just got diagnosed with 3rd stage chronic kidney disease, so I really have to be health minded now, or I could end up on dialisis. I am not even a diabetic! I have to drink 3 quarts of water a day, so that is my biggest challenge, even though my whole diet has been rearranged and changed. Please pray for me, thanks!

Oh my goodness. Yes, prayers are certainly coming your way.

Now I have my armature concerns here. Like most water, even filtered water, is not really alkaline, but is somewhat acidic, so drinking all that water makes me wonder how you will stay alkaline. Being alkaline is so important for our overall health. There are ph strips you can buy at places like Vittcost and health food stores. They let you know, based on urine flow, how your ph is. I do know that Evian spring water is alkaline - but most spring water is not. But it would be very pricey to drink just that.

I personally stay alkaline with citrus juices, vinegar, alkalizing herbs, sweet potatoes and wheatgrass juice powder in smoothies or in my o.j.

Also, too much water can deplete your electrolytes. Maybe the medical staff has alerted you to all this, but I am sort of a mother hen who worries a lot for others. We gotta have adequate electrolytes to function well. But maybe you have researched all this already. Just sharin'.

I love lemons, so I doubt I will become acidic. I will see if I can come up with some of those strips. So far I only felt a bit faint once, and I had some broth that has a bit of natural sodium but is not salted, and I was OK. I cook with pink salt too. And she did say for me to have a teaspoon of salt every day as well. (Not by itself, but just sprinkled on my food very lightly throughout the day). So I am buying low sodium foods, being careful and trying to do as much as I can of what she told me to. Sometimes it is impossible though. I was at a Christmas party yesterday. I am supposed to be having no sugar. Well, there was this huge table with all kinds of desserts on it. WHO CAN RESIST THAT! So I had a small sliver of some walnut cake. I figured that would be OK, since I tried to stay with foods that are not salty and no other dessert. I also brought some pitted dates with me, so I had a couple of those to help me feel not so deprived.

I am glad you are taking the pink salt. Here are the other eletrolytes I saw online: potassium, calcium bicarbonate, magnesium,chloride, phosphate.

Magnesium and calcium have to be taken in the right ratio to one another. Fortunately, commonly, calcium supplements have magnesium added in at the right amount.

Potassium is easy to get by taking cream of tartar. The supplements for it contain very little by law for some reason. I take 1/4 tsp of cream of tartar daily. If I don't take it I get these huge cravings for bananas. Spinach has lots of potassium and is alkalizing. Ditto avocados.

As for me, but I have adrenal issues, when my ph levels get even slightly acidic I can feel it pretty soon because I get very tired. Therefore I check my ph every time I urinate.

I keep hearing that fruits which are berries are very low on sugar, plus they have so many nutrients. I pray you will be led to whatever diet, and help, you need.

Well, I have lost 2 pounds in 9 days, which I am thankful for. Now I have been researching and, from what I can see in scientific studies, exercise really doesn't cause any weight loss! Of course it is wonderful for our physical, emotional, and mental well being, so I am increasing it anyway.

I hope and pray things are going well for you all. :)

... I gained like 6 pounds of it back. I guess I got back to eating as much as I was before. Oh well... that's easily fixable I just eat less again.
One thing I saw some research on is that our bodies have some kind of internal mechanism that will try to get us to regain any weight we lost. This fight can go on for over a year after all the weight is lost.

In the last 8 days I have lost 2.8 pounds. I am so thankful for the progress. The problems with fatigue are way less common. As someone said above, which was helpful to reflect on, if you don't eat enough the body will actually cause you to hold onto fat. So, if I am hungry I am learning to just eat more than I "think" I should and have seen that a little more food can actually lead to more weight loss the next day or so. Of course the food has to leave out any no-nos.

Now here is something I have learned about weight loss. All I can do is report some on the research, and can't prove it is helping me personally as I am not part of any kind of scientific study with a support group.

Fennel, especially the essential oil, but also the powder in smoothies is reported to help with losing weight. (Also rosemary essential oil can be helpful.) I have seen no help there if I eat socially or otherwise deviate from my diet, though. With fennel the research has shown weight loss if it is inhaled a few times a day and rubbed into the wrists with oil a few times a day too.

Well, I use way more than they used, much stronger. I mix it with fractionated coconut oil and slather it up and down on the veins of my inner arms as well as wrists, and even put it on my stomach, and put some under my nostrils. I also use a much higher concentration of drops to oil than they did. Okay I have a tendency to go hog wild on some things.

Now I will also share something else, just in case anyone finds it interesting or helpful. As I mentioned above, I got a "word of knowledge" re meat, and I also got
more than one on fennel to encourage me to use it for weight loss. In case that sounds crazy, I will tell a little story for the season.

I have not seen a sister, who lives in a different state, for at least 3 years and so didn't know about any changes in her apartment. I wanted to get her a Hanukkah present, some earrings, and didn't know what to get so asked for guidance. (Though i have had fun with lots of Christmases in the past, after i studied I saw the Christmas isn't, in my opinion, really associated with the Savior's birth. On the other hand, we do see Him participating in the Feast of Dedication, which is Hanukkah. Therefore I gift Hanukkah gifts, not Christmas gifts.) The word of knowledge "globe" came to me. That made sense as she has been a bit of a globe trotter and as she sometimes has taught English as a second language.

When she got the earrings she said they were perfect and kind of matched the maps of the world which she had recently put up in her living room.

Well, hope this wasn't too long. I will probably generally report in just when I lose 5 pounds, in the future.

It has taken me about a month and a half to loose 5 more pounds. I was experimenting. On the net they tell you that coconut oil and turmeric can cause weight loss. That ain't true! They did not cause any weight gain, but caused my weight to remain the same when I greatly increased my use of them. The thing was, the coconut oil, taken several times a day, really helped me with energy and is reported to help with mental function. The turmeric helped me greatly with an upper back pain problem, making it pretty much go away.

What seems to have helped me lose weight is drinking a quart of water first thing in the morning on a an empty stomach and taking a lot more vitamin C, like over 10 mg spread throughout the day. I will be using sodium ascorbate as it does not cause bloat at high levels and also is not acidifying like ascorbic C.

I hope all is going well with any who read this post.

I'm gaining weight still. I went up a cloths size. I am taking a medication that causes weight gain, (cannot take a different one, as all of the ones that are for this cause it). I'm frustrated, to say the least. Basically I gave up and stopped even trying. I know that is not a good idea, but what's the use?!?

I have been wondering how you were doing. I am so sorry you are feeling discouraged.

Personally I search a lot on the net for alternative health helps as I have over and over found them so helpful, and too many times have found meds to be harmful.

Dr. John Bergman is one of my favorite sources of natural health help information, on You Tube. Very enlightening on so many health topics. Just wondering if he has anything helpful to say to you.

I pray you will be helped in the ways you need SpiritSong. :hug:
