How many gifts of the Spirit are mentioned in the Bible, and which ones are still operating today?

And discuss.

There are 9 specific gifts of "The Spirit" listed in scripture, and all of them operate if you seek the filling of The Holy Spirit beyond being born again and water immersed, just like Jesus did.

A good portion of people refuse to take that 3rd step in faith. They give up after 2 steps.

The gifts
  1. The Word of Knowledge
  2. The Word of Wisdom
  3. The Gift of Prophecy
  4. The Gift of Faith
  5. The Gift of Healing
  6. The Working of Miracles
  7. The Discerning of Spirits
  8. Different Kinds of Tongues
  9. The Interpretation of Tongues
Many people make claims ... however to determine if the all the claims made are true is impossible because we don't personally know everybody in the world making claims and have not been present to witness them (claims) and don't have access to all the details. Although certainly possible.

Many people make claims ...

It's not about any claim.

If you believe the words of Jesus and follow Him, then you will do the things He did also. If He received the filling of The Holy Spirit after water immersion "to fulfill all righteousness" then we are to do the same as He.

I'm glad I'm not one of those having to explain to Jesus why I only took two steps in faith and quit.

This is true .... but not all receive all the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12

7 The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all. 8 To some people the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge. 9 To others the same Spirit gives faith. To others that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. 10 To others he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy. To others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before. And to still others he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages. 11 All the gifts are produced by one and the same Spirit. He gives gifts to each person, just as he decides.

Was that what I was talking about?

Or was I talking about obeying Jesus and following His example of being filled with The Spirit He gave us, to fulfill all righteousness.

People can attempt to infer whatever they want out of scripture, but the example of Jesus being filled with The Spirit after His water immersion is ours to follow also.

As I said, most people take two steps and quit.

A good portion of people refuse to take that 3rd step in faith. They give up after 2 steps.

Are you talking about the 9 fruits of the Spirit?
I am aware of these.

Galatians 5:22-23.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Not Directly Stated or Implied Gifts:

1. Love.
2. Joy.
3. Peace.
4. Long-suffering (Patience).
5. Faith.
6. Self Control (Disciplined)
7. Goodness.
8. Gentleness.
9. Humbleness (Meekness - KJV).

They are called the fruits of he Spirit, and I believe they are given to every true born again believer. But they have to continue in the Spirit by their walking in the Spirit. Believers do not always continue to abide in GOD after they repented (or sought forgiveness with the Lord Jesus Christ). I remember the first time I accepted Jesus as my Savior. I had a love, joy, and peace like I had never known before. These things were indeed gifts from GOD after I had accepted Him. It is true, these things I had to continue in with GOD (of course).

Oh, and yes; I can see these as gifts (even though they are not explicitly stated as gifts). For they were not something that an unbeliever has. An unbeliever may have an imitation of these gifts or fruits, but they are not the real deal that come from GOD.

I see other gifts that are not so explicitly stated as gifts in 1 Corinthians 7, too.

1 Corinthians 7:3, 1 Corinthians 7:7

3 "Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband."

7 "...I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that."

Other Indirectly stated or Implied gifts:

1. Celibacy
2. Marriage

However, there appear to be more gifts listed for the church in the Bible besides these.
The other part of the question is: Which of the following gifts (below) are still in operation today?

Romans 12:6-8

6 "Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness."

1. Prophecy.*
2. Ministry.
3. Teaching.
4. Exhortation.
5. Giving.
6. Leadership.
7. Mercy.

1 Corinthians 12:4, 1 Corinthians 12:8-11.

4 "Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit."

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will."

1. Word of Wisdom.
2. Word of Knowledge.
Faith (Repeat).
3. Gift of Healing.
4. Working of Miracles.
Prophecy* (Repeat).
5. Discerning of Spirits.
6.
Tongues (The speaking of other known languages without study).
7.
Interpretation of Tongues.
1 Corinthians 12:28

"And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues."

1.
Gift of Apostleship.
Prophecy (Prophets) (Repeat).
2. Gift of Teaching.
Working of Miracles (Repeat).
Gift of Healing (Repeat).

3. Gift of Helping Others (KJV - Gift of Helps).
4. Gift of Administration or Organizing (KJV - Gift of Governments).

Tongues (Repeat).

Ephesians 4:7, Ephesians 4:11-12

7 "But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ."

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:"

Gift of Apostleship (Repeat).
Prophecy or Gift of Being a Prophet* (Repeat).

1. Gift of Evangelism (A winner of souls).
2. Gift of Pastorship.
Gift of Teaching (Repeat).

1 Peter 4:7-11

7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

1. Being Sober and Watchful in Prayer.
Love (Repeat).
2. Hospitality (Sharing one's home or resources with others; Especially brothers).

I am sure there are more that are not specifically mentioned. Any specific working of God in our life is a gift. So others have listed things like Involuntary Poverty - 2 Corinthians 8:9 (that is not specifically mentioned as a gift), etc.

Other Not Directly Stated or Implied Gifts:

1. Involuntary Poverty
2. Dreams (Acts of the Apostles 2:17).
3.
Visions (Acts of the Apostles 2:17).

Side Note:

I believe the gifts colored in red above are no longer in operation (Although I will not say that every person is not operating by GOD if they are claiming to do these things unless I investigate their beliefs and or I see them do it (via video) and discern what they are doing is truly of GOD). The gifts colored in blue means that this gift has changed to being exclusive to using the Bible alone as their form of prophecy (i.e. They know Eschatology by the Bible correctly) and they are not creating any new prophecies or revelations to add to the Bible; They are also not claiming that God is helping them with minor future predictions in their life, either.

Yes, of course it is, but what I was bringing forth is that not all people have all the specific gifts of the Holy Spirit (listed). Being filled with the Holy Spirit does not mean one receives all the gifts and it's up to the Spirit what gifts are given and to who.

I didn't say fruit, I said gifts of The Holy Spirit, Ie spiritual gifts when a person is filled with The Holy Spirit.

That filling of The Holy Spirit is the 3rd step in faith a Christian takes in his/her Christian walk with Jesus.

I received them all, why wouldn't another Christian?

I took a simple step in faith and honestly asked the Father to receive The Holy Spirit, and He led me into 2 days of fasting and prayer, and I received the filling of His Spirit during that time from Him.

3rd step complete, on to the next.

While I am sure there are more, I see 34 early church gifts (back in the day), and I see 27 spiritual gifts (with one of those gifts changing in how it functions) that are still in operation for the church today.

What passage are you referencing? Is it not Galatians 5:22-23?
If so, it says that these are fruits (of which I am inclined to believe that they are also gifts, too).

I am using scripture. Jesus was filled with The Spirit after His water immersion and received the gifts of The Spirit, we are to do the same thing to fulfill all righteousness.

That is in scripture is it not?

Anyways, the greatest gift of all is.... God's grace of salvation...who is Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8 says,
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God"

Jesus is the gift.
For God so loved the world that He GAVE His only begotten Son.... (John 3:16).

Many had sought after the physical miracle bread that Jesus provided, but Jesus desired them to seek after the spiritual bread (Which was Himself and or Salvation). This means we are to abide in Christ and abide in His words (teachings).

Please post the actual passage.

I'm sure you have read the passages before,...

[quoteMat 3:13 Then Jesus arrives from Galilee to the Jordan, to John, to be baptized by him.
Mat 3:14 But John restrained Him, saying, I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?
Mat 3:15 But answering, Jesus said to him, Allow it now, for it is becoming to us this way to fulfill all righteousness. Then he allows Him.
Mat 3:16 And having been baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water. And, behold! The heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God coming down as a dove, and coming upon Him.
Mat 3:17 And behold! A voice out of the heavens saying, This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I have been well-pleased.[/quote]

Do we not follow Him?
