I want to talk about it. I believe abortion is murder unless the mother's life is in danger, and that birth control makes more sense. I was talking with my Lord, and He asked what would happen if something happened to Him before He was born, and He told me to be prolife. I am so sorry.
Well that's awesome to hear. I think for Christians, this position is fairly easy to understand.
Humans are unique among all God's creation. We alone are created in His Image and possess inherent moral worth and value. It doesn't matter our age, gender, race, or even the
how in which we came into existence - we are all equally morally valuable.
Science has come a long way and has now demonstrated for us that a new and unique human being comes into existence at fertilization.
Putting the two together leaves us with little room other than to recognize that from our earliest beginnings we are made in God's image and possess inherent moral worth and value.
With regards to abortion being acceptable in the case of the mother's life being endangered... I personally don't even like to use the term "abortion" in these situations because the term has become so specific in its connotation and usage. Instead, I would suggest that when a woman becomes pregnant that the doctors need to look at her and see two patients - both equal in intrinsic moral worth.
If something occurs where the life of one of them is in danger, the doctor should do everything he can to save the one. If something occurs where the lives are both in danger, the doctor should look at them both as his patients and save both if he can. Often times it's not possible to save both, and in those cases the doctor should still do his best to make sure he can save one.
As the viability of the fetus grows to earlier and earlier, this makes it easier for the doctor, as performing a c-section is typically going to be the easiest way. But if the unborn has not reached viability, then often difficult decisions have to be made, and I do not envy the doctors and families that are involved in these life or death situations.
Do not take my word for it. Pray deeply and study those verses on NT Pacifism, and the Lord will guide you into all truth. For me: Once the Lord revealed that truth to me, it was like I had stepped through a door and locked it behind me. There is no going back because I know better based on what God has revealed clearly to me in what His Word says. But you need to seek and find that out for yourself (of course). Ask God to help you on that topic, and He most definitely will help you to see it.
The thing is that government is ordained by GOD to carry out justice. God uses governments to punish evil in many cases (and not all cases). GOD used an enemy nation of Israel (Assyria) to punish Israel for it's sin. They were a rod of correction. But after Assyria punished Israel, they were destroyed. They served their purpose for GOD. GOD can use governments for His greater plan for good. For without police, criminals would roam free. Without an army to protect us, enemies of other nations would seek to take away our way of freedom and in having safe and nice suburbs and parks with squirrels to enjoy. It is that the government plays a different ROLE, office, or function than that of a truly faithful Christian (Who is saved) in God's plan.
A Christian is merely following their orders from the Lord Jesus Christ not to attack. These orders will obviously end when they have lived out their faith here on this Earth and have died or been Raptured to then follow Jesus into battle when Christ returns at His 2nd Coming. All the nations of this world will seek to fight and attack Jesus. But you cannot seek to battle with GOD and win. That never works out all that well.
Anyways, peace and blessings to you in the Lord this fine day;
And I hope that what I said helps.
Matthew 8 would be a stumbling block to this position. The centurion soldier showed great faith and was praised by Jesus. Yet no where in this passage does Jesus tell the soldier that now that he has shown great faith and Believed in Jesus that he should take up another vocation. If it's true that Christians are not permitted to be soldiers, then Jesus didn't get the memo.
