I like the story of Ahab and how God dealt with him ordering his death in a precise manner and time.

“And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.” (1 Kings 22:34) (KJV 1900)

So an idiot shooting an arrow into the air on a whim did him in just as ordered by God.

Thank you. Interesting.

I was wanting to hear opinions on the stories we read about in OT scripture. Whats your favorite and why? Thank you.
I love the story of Noah. The man had faith. God told him it was going to rain(something which had never happened before on earth because it was supplied by rivers) and he believed it. Then he went on to build the ark as instructed for so many years. Imagine the scorn and laughter from on-lookers yet he didn't waiver. He saved his household because of His faith and obedience. What a man!

I too like the Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz 'kinsman redeemer' story. There is much to learn from this story.
...yes, I feel that Boaz was a very kind and thoughtful man.

II Kings 2:1-15:
And it came to pass, when the Lord was about to take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. Then Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to Bethel.”

But Elisha said, “As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So they went down to Bethel.

Now the sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that the Lord will take away your master from over you today?”

And he said, “Yes, I know; keep silent!”

Then Elijah said to him, “Elisha, stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to Jericho.”

But he said, “As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So they came to Jericho.

Now the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came to Elisha and said to him, “Do you know that the Lord will take away your master from over you today?”

So he answered, “Yes, I know; keep silent!”

Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to the Jordan.”

But he said, “As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So the two of them went on. And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went and stood facing them at a distance, while the two of them stood by the Jordan. Now Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the water; and it was divided this way and that, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground.

And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?”

Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.” Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces. He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan. Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, “Where is the Lord God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over.

Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.

My wife says Ruth is the story of a destitute woman essentially seducing Boaz. Our minister preached on it the other day, calling it such a beautiful story, and she was quite vehement that it was nothing of the sort.

I like the story of Micah's Idol in Judges. Not a particularly edifying story - stolen silver used to make an idol, thus leading a whole tribe astray who go on to massacre a defenceless and harmless town outside their allocated territory. I've just always found it interesting, and there are some fascinating anagogical readings that can be made. Of stolen silver as refering to Judas who made an idol of Jesus, and was lead to perdition - usually coupled to Dan being the tribe of the Antichrist. Don't know how valid such readings are, but interesting none the less.

I like the word 'history' rather than 'story', though I understand what you are asking for.

That which stands out to me, Moses and the Exodus. Truly awesome. God's grace and justice, mercy and judgment.

Daniel is another excellent, especially the prophecies and events in the life of Daniel and Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah and the Great Controversy between good and evil forces unveiled.

My favorite story is from the Song of Songs, there is a narrative if you can follow it. I'm convinced it's just a wedding song written by Solomon to honor the wedding of two people in his court.

Mine is Joseph. It taught me a lot about forgiveness. And that God sticks by you, even when you can’t see the wider picture or the end of the struggle.

There’s a wonderful children’s animation of it - Joseph King of Dreams that I love to watch with my son.

i love the testimony of David, a boy who couldn't even wear the king's armor because it was too big, and who had no weapons, except God on his side, and KNEW "Who's" battle it was, and Who guided that stone, fearlessly ran TO Goliath, that big ol' bully, who was bad-mouthing the God of Israel, and slung that stone with Godly guided accuracy, as it hit its mark, and that bully came a tumblin' on down, as Saul the king and his entire army hid, quaking their armor, because they were terrified of Goliath.

THIS is why God LOVED David and called him a "man after His own heart" and the "apple of His eye"...it was because David "feared" God.

Saul and his army didn't. They feared "man".

(There is another testimony that i love as well. It's Gideon. Well there's many more now that i think about it.....)

i too love the story of david. he totally trusted God, killing lions and bears with his bare hands, smiting those uncircumcised philistines on almost every occasion (not to mention israel's other enemies), but showing massive restraint and faith by preserving the life of king saul, marrying the princess, showing brotherly love to his best friend jonathan, impressing the ladies ('david has slain his tens of thousands').

he even worked for the philistines for a while, and pretended to be mad at one stage. i laugh when i read about it. ("do i lack madmen in my kingdom?" "shall this fellow come into my home?" lol)

1 samuel 21v13-15 so [david] he changed his behavior before them and pretended to be insane in their hands and made marks on the doors of the gate and let his spittle run down his beard. then achish said to his servants, “behold, you see the man is mad. why then have you brought him to me? do I lack madmen, that you have brought this fellow to behave as a madman in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?”
