Prosperity preachers say God wants us to be rich, having an abundance of wealth. However Jesus said not to store money on earth but in heaven. How do prosperity proponents explain this? How can i have wealth if im not storing it on earth? If i build a luxurious mansion, am i following Jesus command that says not to store wealth on earth?

Usually, they tell that to everyone who will listen to them, and then all those people send money to them and they become rich, and those people can't understand why they are not getting rich, when they ask questions they get told its because they aren't doing this that and the other and that they must keep giving.

If you have Jesus, you have everything you need and want. Some want health only, others Houses and Cars....Some desire to count large sums of money in the bank......Some want to travel the world and have no Home to call their own.

It would be a life undesired, in which one is told that they must conform to any one of the scenarios that i mentioned above, or any that I haven't.

Good thing is, God gave it free will to choose what we want to ask for....and receive. (please note, however, that it profit nothing to gain the whole world and lose your soul.....so it is wise to make provisions for your soul....so that your soul prospers even as you do..)

Stand therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made you free and be not entangled again....

There is no need to covet or even thinking about what your neighbor has.......

Cause all I have is Thine.....

IMO it is from a failure to look at ALL of scripture. They (prosperity teachers) seem to cherry pick several verses that speak of God's abundance; while neglecting others like not laying up treasures or the command to give away. It becomes a very self-centered and self-serving message rather than the humility and God-centered TRUE gospel.

Do you think its a failure on the teacher's behalf not to look at the other scriptures or do they specifically leave the other scriptures out?

Probably some are one and some are the other.

Whereas I don't subscribe to the prosperity gospel, I believe it's okay for a Christian to build a mansion. There is no biblical scripture telling us to be poor except in the spirit. What works for me is I have transferred ownership of my money and everything I have (valuable or not) to God. Am only in possession of what He has given me and thereforehelp others in need while still living a decent life. I have heard God tell me to give away some of my most prized possesions and i obeyed. I have owned a few luxurious items, lost them and money too, but wasn't Shaken at all. This is not true boast rather to share how God tests us via money. My friends thought I was crazy to rejoice and give thanks amidst the losses. My pleasure comes from Jesus alone and if I want to live in a Mansion and can afford it, why not?

Prosperity preachers - they are after their own prosperity, I think they are bilking the public.

If one is blessed monetarily they should be extra charitable.

Mansions? If they are in the right location - heaven ;o)

Lord says:

Matthew 19

23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

1 Corinthians 6:12

“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be enslaved by anything.

Everything belongs to the Lord and we get to use some of them while we are here on earth.

God Bless.

When a blind man falls in a ditch, I do not blame them....for they could not see. I believe most of these preacher mean no harm and is just teaching what they know to be true.

I believe that they are teaching part of the truth....and leaving out some of the other, more important, some might say, truths (or the other messages are just not being reports....as the "bad" messages get more views)...... Sadly, this causes some to throw out the baby with the bath water...... They go to the other extreme......we must be poor and destitute all our lives.... and its a sin to have a few dollars in your pocket.

If they preached that Jesus said not to store wealth on earth this would wreck their theology.

Do you think that they make Elohim sound like a slot machine when they preach
