How often do you read the Bible?

I read the Bible about one hour a day everyday but sometimes more.

Just wondering how often other Christians read the Bible.

Hi I believe it is important to memorize a lot of text and to be thinking of them and meditating on them throughout the day. You can in your mind reread passages all day and you will never exhaust the richness of the passage. Gods word is living and powerful and not just words on the page so when you read there is a depth in the text that is God's voice speaking to you. The Bible is a conversation with God and the place where our relationship is built. We are given the keys to life and how we respond to them is our walk. We should abound in this all day long and tune out other spheres of influence. We need be fanatic in our love and devotion to develop as a Christian.

I read through the bible at least once a year for many years now. And study topically off and on through the day. It brings peace of mind and physically healthy attitudes.

I often check many scriptural references every day, but it's been a while since I read it cover to cover.

I enjoy doing 30 or more minutes of in-depth study in the morning (sometimes in the afternoon as well, just depends). It includes commentary and Greek/Hebrew word studies.

With that said, I have read the Bible all the way through once and have read certain books many, many times.

I try not to just read G_d's Word but ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to me the deepest meanings and make the Word of the Lord part of me. I ask the Holy Spirit to seek out the outer most of me that there is nothing hidden from Him. I recognize it is hard for me as I am a stiff-necked man all to easy to anger raised to be a soldier and it is not always easy for me to turn the other cheek. But where my sin is grace abounds more as the Holy Spirit is doing His work in me every day Praise be to G_d. Yet when my flesh is weak I know I can come before Him and ask Him to teach me.

I read about an hour a day on my busier days. Otherwise it's anywhere between 1 and 15 hours, though sometimes I read all through the night and through the next day without sleeping if I really get into a study.

I have never read the bible cover to cover as I believe the bible(where unfulfilled prophecy is concerned) is a puzzle though in the course of my studies I have read most books in the bible.

15 hours is a long time. I probably wouldn't have the staying power to do that regularly but I have enough discipline and enthusiasm to do 1 or 2 hours daily.I have read the Bible cover to cover twice but finished the OT the second time this summer gone and now mainly focus on the NT.

It(15 hours) is definitely a long time to be sure, I often have to do other things in the course of it(such as walk the dog or get up and stretch or eat) but I am always thinking about the study. It isn't the Norm though, I usually only get into it like that when I am studying and making a study to help out someone else.

What are your favorite stories from the OT?
Mine are the stories of the Ark being taken in 1 Sam 5-6 and Elijah Mocking the priests of Baal in 1 Kings 18.

My Favorite OT Story. It's a toss up, there are a lot of Great ones(like Samson tying all those Foxes together) but if I had to pick one it would be the Ark being taken by the Philistines.

That story really lets you know the power and anger of God against those who continually do things he really abhors (Especially in his presence). Every time I think about the statue being made to bow down to the Ark of covenant(not to mention it being cut apart), I always think of what must have been going through the peoples minds when they saw their god bowing down before the ark. That had to be something. Then every town they went to it was basically a curse upon to the point where the last town said the people trying to bring the ark into their city to kill them.

A close second would be the Story of Elijah mocking the Priests of Baal when their god couldn't do anything to light their pyre on fire. I always smile thinking about how 1 guy was standing in front of 450 men mocking how their God was probably talking or asleep and needed to be woken up. Then the power of the Lord being witnessed by them all as the Lord Lit the Pyre Elijah built(and drenched in water three times) on fire.

I try to read three chapters each day, which means I can finish the Bible cover to cover in about one year (somewhat longer if it is a version that includes the Apocrypha). Unfortunately I do miss days, so I really average about 12 chapters per week.
