...wouldn't that sort of defeat the purpose of trying to encourage others to also help other people? Which is what he was doing yesterday.
or it was.
...or he was trying to encourage other people to help out at Thanksgiving?/Christmas?
tulc(just a thought)
you did notice where he went, right? Because I get the impression you think the goal was to promote his group when it was actually about where he was serving, Chicago Food Depository.Well, that's one way to spin his antics. There are plenty of charitable agencies that serve the poor every day whose example anyone may follow and to whose efforts anyone may contribute. Obama's attempt to encourage others to charitable acts is a pale and rather self-aggrandizing shadow next to the brilliant and constant effort of these agencies who deserve our attention far more than Obama does.
or it was.Or, it wasn't.
So he succeeded in his goal. He reminded people they should be helping other people who need help.It was a thought, yes. Not a very good one, I think, but a thought nonetheless.
Well you've convinced me of one thing: if he runs for President again I wont be voting for him.Obama's charity is pretty obviously a cloak for his chronic self-promotion.
I don't think he'd disagree with you, because, much like Paul the Apostle, "as long as the work gets done" I suspect President Obama will be just as happy. There are any number of far superior examples of charity one could - and should - follow.
Can't help but observe that many of the disparaging comments about Obama performing good ... are the same type of statements the Pharisees made about Jesus doing good ...
To draw a proper parallel here between Jesus and the Pharisees and those of us who don't see Obama through rose colored glasses you'd have to establish that we are Pharisaical in our thinking and living and that Obama is totally unworthy of our criticism. Good luck with that. It doesn't follow that merely because we are harshly critical of Obama that he is a Jesus figure and we unfair and hypocritical detractors. Your parallel, then, is convenient and facile, but widely inaccurate.
Jesus was God in the flesh.
Obama is an abominable sinner.
Indeed, you shall ...
One must ask themselves these questions ... if they feel obliged to criticize someone who is clearly doing good ...
The Pharisee who prayed in Luke 18:10-12 was doing good - on the level of appearances. But Christ condemned his prayer as a demonstration of hypocrisy and self-aggrandizement. I'm doing the same with Obama.
Obama is pro abortion and pro gay marriage.
