Man's favorite Idol is himself...

The Pharisees did not think they were doing this, but they were wrong (and still are) wrong and deceived (about that) today... And it has been pointed out...

They thought all those "other people" do and are doing that, but did not think they were at all, and when this was pointed out, they would get very upset and deny it, and call you names or things, and want to even do much worse to you...

Their "religion" had blinded them and greatly deceived them... So much so, that you, or one, usually had to use a sledgehammer to get through, or point it out, or to make it known...

I'm tired of sledgehammers... Isn't there a better way...?

Anyhow, Man's favorite idol is himself...

What do you think...?

God Bless!

I think free will is an idol people trust in for salvation. It works like this. If Christ died for all and all are not saved, it must be up to the person to activate their salvation through meeting a condition. So their trust is not directly in Christ, but in themselves for meeting the condition they think saved them.

The concept, the idea of free will, is not in itself and Idol though, but becomes that, when, like you say, people trust in it for their salvation, as one good example, for there are others...

But I agree that it can become that... and agree with the other points you are trying to make by using that example as well...

God Bless!

Can man have an ego and be truly charitable? And a young minister explores this thought...

Define "truly charitable" first... Then I would say that can still help and be beneficial to others, maybe many others, whether in the right kind of spirit or not...

I guess the real question a lot will probably want to know, is if their is any "point" to it in that case...? Cause many will want to know "does, or how does it/that benefit me...?" But is that even the right way to think...? Another good question...?

And I don't have the answer to those questions...?

God Bless!

Music engages me best, and I'm a big fan of those who do it well.
They don't have to look like me for me to consider them great.

Have you met the condition of trusting Him?

I was duped into thinking the gospel was law instead of grace. And I thought I had to earn salvation through obedience. But when I heard the doctrine of limited atonement for the first time, the horrible burden of do it yourself salvation lifted. And I realized I couldn't doubt if I wanted to. And my faith was proof Jesus paid for my sins. Had he not, I could not believe in any true and lasting way. I call it "do it yourself and save".

If that's your belief, go headstrong in it.

We are told signs will follow them who believe; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover. How many sick have recovered from your laying hands on them? If you believe, why aren't you in the hospitals, emptying them?

The gifts you speak of were temporary and ended with the Apostles.

Maybe.
It seems clear anyway that those gifts are very rare now.
Also, the adversary has some of those tricks up his sleeve as well.

Why aren't you doing that...?

I don't exactly know what else you guys are talking about, but if your a headstrong defiant "law" oriented (I guess you could say) person, and your saying to the others opposite of you are false, then, by all means, please, start showing us by doing some of these things in abundance... What if the "others" started doing it...? What would be your thoughts then...?

God Bless!

Not all believers have signs following them.
...but i can't find the passage that says that..
It says not to look down on the brothers and sisters who don't have those 'sought after' signs following them, it says that they are special to God even.
Anyone know where to find this passage?

I have no idea where that passage is. For every person who says they were healed by a preacher or whoever, there are just as many who were healed other ways.
