When does our Eternal life start? Does it start the moment we accept Jesus and are born again? Or does it start when we die? Or from the moment we are resurrected? When does it start?

It starts the moment you are born from above.....when you become who you are and death ceases to exist.

"And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"

I never really understood what Jesus meant by this. Did he mean that we will live on after we die in spirit? Its commonly taught in the church today that when we die our spirit goes to heaven and our bodies sleep in the grave.

Jesus said whoever believes has eternal life. Eternal life is without beginning or end. So the saved were always saved in God's mind. We can identify them by how they relate to Jesus and the gospel. Only those with eternal life will respond positively and remain true.

When does our Eternal life start?
This question ignores the distinction between time and eternity.
When we are born again, we have eternal life which "starts" before time ever existed.

What do you mean by that?

It means exactly what it says.....: You shall never die. In that day, your whole concept of death will be shattered.....death loses it's sting and grave loses victory.

Continue to contemplate what can happen that would make this feeling true.....It is a knowing and not a belief.... And then make it your goal to............never die..

Good Day,

When Jesus decides to give it to them, he alone has that authority .... but he only gives it to those given from the Father to the Son.

Jn 17

When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed. "I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.

In Him,

Bill

It starts when you have the Son.

"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." 1John 5:11,12

And that occurs when you come to believe.
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." John 5:24

There are 2 deaths, earthly and eternal. Jesus is concerned about eternal death.

We are to know by His word, if we believe in Him we will receive eternal life. However, we do not actually receive the reward of eternal life until He returns. The reward (eternal life with Him) is given at the 1st resurrection, he will raise the saved dead first, and saved living at the time will be translated. All the saved receive eternal life at that time.

Revelation 22

12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me (the gift of eternal life), and I will give to each person according to what they have done.

1 Thessalonians 4

The Return of the Lord

13 Brothers, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who are without hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him (who died earthly death believing in Him, before His return).

15 By the word of the Lord, we declare to you that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will be the first to rise. 17 After that, we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.

18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

We have to be changed before we start our (actual) eternal life with Him.

1 Corinthians 15

42So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.

We will have a spiritual body. Uncertain what this body will look like, but a body non the less.

So, the actual eternal life with Him (and our realization of it) starts at His return and it will be in a new body.

Amen.
