Rather than prejudice the discussion by a long first post, I would like to understand what people here understand not just what is going to happen during the Second Coming of Jesus but what they understand it to mean to the world after He comes and establishes His rule in Jerusalem, Israel.

Rather than prejudice the discussion by a long first post, I would like to understand what people here understand not just what is going to happen during the Second Coming of Jesus but what they understand it to mean to the world after He comes and establishes His rule in Jerusalem, Israel.

so Paul puts the 2nd coming in a nutshell here:

1st Thessalonians 4

The Return of the Lord

13Brothers, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who are without hope. 14For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.

15By the word of the Lord, we declare to you that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who have fallen asleep. 16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will be the first to rise. 17After that, we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.

18Therefore encourage one another with these words.

So at that point all the saved are with the Lord in heaven.

A lot of things take place and then the 2nd resurrection (of all the lost) takes place and they along with the earth destroyed.

Then God makes everything new.

It's not about todays earthly
Jerusalem, Israel. It will not be rebuilt. It's about the heavenly one to come.

Revelation 21

A New Heaven and a New Earth

1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying:

“Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man,

and He will live with them.

They will be His people,

and God Himself will be with them as their God.

4He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,

and there will be no more death

or mourning or crying or pain,

for the former things have passed away.”

5And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are faithful and true.” 6And He told me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give freely from the spring of the water of life. 7The one who is victorious will inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son.

God Bless.

Hello brother, nice topic. For me however I think many do not know who God's ISRAEL is under the NEW COVENANT. According to the scriptures God's ISRAEL are all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD. This is who JESUS is returning for. If you are not a part of God's ISRAEL you have no part in the NEW COVENANT *HEBREWS 8:10-12.

Yeah, I know sadly, but I'm am led to keep putting certain important truths out there. I used to believe a lot of things in error until I really settled down and studied in depth Gods word for myself. So if I can be woke up .... others can ;o) .... in the meantime I get verbally beat up about certain truths brought forth .... so be it. The believers are all Israel and will one day all be in the New Jerusalem here on earth with Him ... and for eternity!
AMEN!

I wanted to let others speak first because I have a somewhat different slant on things than many and I base my views on scripture so I ask that you examine the scripture basis I offer for my position. More on this below.

I agree there will be a new Jerusalem and a New Earth and the Resurrection on the Saints and Transformation of those Living Saints to meet Jesus in the air upon His return. Jesus will set foot upon the earth scripture says Jesus to reign on earth from an Earthly Jerusalem in an Earthly Israel for a millennia (a period of a thousand years) which very few Churches cover before the new Earth and New Jerusalem are instituted. Not many Churches teach much about this and I for one consider it a rather important issue. When the Messiah returns it is NOT going to all be flowers and sunshine for many of the inhabitants of earth. His return is prophesied not only in the New Testament but also in the Old Testament. How many here have an understanding of this Reign of Jesus on Earth before the New Earth an New Jerusalem are instituted as described in scripture?

Revelation 20:4-6 4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

Revelation 19:11-21 ESV

Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. …

Revelation 20:1-15 ESV
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while. Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. …

These are but a small sampling of verses. Please re-read Revelations in context to get a more complete understanding.

Isaiah Chapter 60
How many are familiar with it? Yes, it is in the Old Testament however it is prophetic involving the time during Jesus' Second Coming Reign from Jerusalem in Earthly Israel for a 1000 years before the new Earth and New Jerusalem come to being. If you read both Chapter 60 and 61 in Isaiah; have these things come to pass yet? No, but they will when the Messiah Jesus sets foot back on earth.

10 “Foreigners will rebuild your walls,
and their kings will serve you.
Though in anger I struck you, in favor I will show you compassion.11 Your gates will always stand open,
they will never be shut, day or night, so that people may bring you the wealth of the nations—their kings led in triumphal procession.
12 For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly ruined.

Isaiah 60:14-15 14The children of your oppressors will come bowing before you; all who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel. 15"Although you have been forsaken and hated, with no one traveling through, I will make you the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations.
New International Version

Theses things are also covered by the Prophet Zechariah specifically in Chapter 14: 16-18

16Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths. 17And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, there will be no rain on them. 18If the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the plague with which the LORD smites the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

The great Islamic Counterfeit. By far the vast majority of Christians know little if anything about Islam and before 9/11 I was among that group. However I dove headlong into understanding Islam that I should not be deceived by those who would seek to do so. I became a member of an Israel Military forum and later a senior moderator after many years there. I studied Islam from every source I could including official Islamic material officially published by Saudi Arabia religious sources in both Aramaic and English.

One of the five foundational "pillars" of Islam is that every Muslim believer who is able to raise the necessary funds should at least once in their lifetime make a religious pilgrimage to Mecca. Muslims making the hajj observe a series of traditions (Arabic: ahadeeth) that involves kissing a black stone embedded on the corner of the corner of the shrine known as the Kaaba ("the cube"). Muslim tradition holds that the black stone fell from heaven: Muhammad said 'The Black Stone came down from Paradise.' This is strikingly similar to the tradition that existed in Ephesus during the first century regarding the image of Artemis: " After quieting the crowd, the town clerk said, 'Men of Ephesus, what man is there after all who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is guardian of the temple of the great Artemis and of the image which fell down from heaven? (Acts 19:35) The head of the Artemis statue was also made of a carved black meteorite, just like the black rock embedded in the corner of the Kaaba. Muslims believe that the stone has the ability to absorb and absolve the sins of those who kiss or touch it. "When the Black Stone came down from Paradise, it was whiter than milk, but the sins of Adam made it Black." Or so Muslims believe. Why even Muhammad, "The Messenger of Allah... said concerning the Stone: 'By Allah Allah will bring it forth on the Day of Resurrection, and it will have two eyes with which it will see and a tongue with which it will speak, and will testify in favor of those who touched it in sincerity.'" from al-Tirmidhi; Ibn Maajah, 2944.

Muslims also believe Jesus never died on the cross. Muslims believe Jesus was raised to the heavens by God and instead, one of his foes was made to look like him who was crucified instead. They also believe in his second coming but to kill all those that believe he died on the Cross and to establish Islam as the one and only true religion. ‘Isa, was a prophet of Islam. Jesus’ true name, according to the Qur’an, was ‘Isa. His message was pure Islam, surrender to Allah. ( l 'Imran 3:84) Like all the Muslim prophets before him, and like Muhammad after him, ‘Isa was a lawgiver, and Christians should submit to his law.

That is why all Christians should study to show themselves approved and not be deceived by the father of lies. Study up on Kitman and Taqiya in Islam. Islamic leaders pull the wool over Western Leaders eyes all the time because they are IGNORANT about the foundational Tenants of Islam!!!

So the Bible says that the day is coming when all people will make an annual pilgrimage to Jerusalem to worship Jesus, who will sit in the center of the Temple in the midst of Jerusalem. And on the other side you have the Muslims from every nation come to Mecca each year to kiss the Black Stone, which sits at the center of Al-Masjid Al-Haram, the Grand or Sacred Mosque. Both cannot be the true worship of the one True Living GOD! Muhammad said in Hadith ‘…Fight Until They Say There Is No god But Allah’ Which side are you on? I stand with YHVH GOD Almighty the Holy One of Israel and Yeshua (Jesus the Jewish Messiah and King of the Jews)

The Second Coming of Yeshua HaMashiach (the Saviour of the world) is going to be quite different than many current Christians think it is going to go. Yes, the dead in Christ will be raised to meet Him in the air. It is what happens when the Lion of Juda sets foot on earth again that is going to SHOCK the world!

Yeshua HaMashiach means “Jesus the Messiah.” The name Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Yeshua, which is the shortened form of the name Yehoshua. From this Hebrew word we also get the name Joshua (Joshua 5:15) or Hoshea (Numbers 13:8; Deuteronomy 33:44). The name means “salvation” and is found more than often throughout the Old Testament. This is the name from which we get the Greek word Iesous, prounounced “yay-sus,” or as we say it, “Jesus.”

The Day of the LORD
The Lord Jesus will return directly to Jerusalem and defend His covenant people Israel from the nations which have gathered to destroy them. He will instantly destroy the armies that have gathered together to try and annihilate Israel . The Bible gives a vivid description of what is going to happen to these armies and how they are going to be annihilated. These Scriptures follow:

Zechariah 14:2 “For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

(3) Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. (4) And his feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east...

(12) And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem ; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.”

At the time of His coming, there will be a tremendous geographical upheaval in the nations, but especially in Israel . There will be massive earthquakes that will shake the entire earth and flatten the cities of the world. The Mount of Olives, which is just east of Mount Zion , will split in two and create a huge valley.

Through all this geographical upheaval, a huge area around Jerusalem will be made a plain and raised up like a high mountain. A river will flow from the temple in Jerusalem to both the Mediterranean Sea to the west and the Dead Sea to the east.

Some of the key Scriptures regarding the Day of the Lord’s phases and the geographic changes to Jerusalem follow:

The Day of the Lord and the nations gathered to battle against Jerusalem . First Phase:

Zechariah 14:1 “Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. (2) For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.”

The massive earthquake. Second Phase:

Zechariah 14:4 “And his feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

(5) And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah : and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.”

The plain around Jerusalem will rise like a high mountain. Third Phase:

Zechariah 14:10 “All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin's gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king's winepresses.

(11) And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited.”

King Messiah ruling from the throne of David. Fourth Phase:

Isaiah 2:3 “And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”

Ezekiel 43:7 “And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever…”

After King Messiah returns and destroys the armies of the nations, He will build a magnificent temple in Jerusalem . The temple will be built on the high plain that now encompasses Jerusalem . He will sit on His throne in this temple as King over all the nations. This temple on Mount Zion will be the spiritual and political center of the entire earth.

Ezekiel identifies this future massive plain that Jerusalem is on as a very high mountain. The Scriptures to show that the temple will be built on this high plain that is Jerusalem follow:

Ezekiel 40:2 “In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel , and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.”

Ezekiel 43:12 “This is the law of the house; Upon the top of the mountain the whole limit thereof round about shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house.”

Americans and American Christians can sometimes come off as somewhat abrasive to non-Americans as I have witnessed when I was outside the USA. We sometimes forget when we are in another country we are the foreigners and should at least try to understand local customs before verbally judging others in their country.

When Jesus returns He is going to rule the earth from Jerusalem, Israel so America is no longer going to call the shots economically, politically, and there will be no military world wide. For those Americans who survive the Tribulation how do you think they are going to process this?

The Notion that a glorified Jesus will sit on a physical throne in earthly Jerusalem and REQUIRE Human beings to be physically circumcised and render blood animal sacrifices directly at His feet for the atonement of their sins and acceptance by Him it entirely antithetical to the teachings of the apostles.

Better head back to the drawing board on that one.

I or nor anyone else said anything of such a nature! I have no idea where you got your ideas from. Those are your own words!

I and many others believe there will be a third physical temple before the Second Coming of Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus) as modern day Jews have not recognized Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus) who they slew as their promised Messiah yet . Where sacrifices will be resumed. When the Son of God returns I personally do not believe that sacrifices will continue as Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus) was the Spotless Lamb of God that was slain for the Sins of man and therefore there would not need to be sacrifice.

As the Apostle Paul says in Romans 11 - New International Version

1I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: 3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”[a]? 4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”[b] 5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. 6 And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.

7 What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened, 8 as it is written:

“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
eyes that could not see
and ears that could not hear,
to this very day.”[c]

9 And David says:

“May their table become a snare and a trap,
a stumbling block and a retribution for them.
10 May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see,
and their backs be bent forever.”[d]

Ingrafted Branches
11 Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious. 12 But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their full inclusion bring!

13 I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry 14 in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them. 15 For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? 16 If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.

17 If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, 18 do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” 20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.

22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. 23 And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. 24 After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!

All Israel Will Be Saved
25 I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, 26 and in this way[e] all Israel will be saved. As it is written:

“The deliverer will come from Zion;
he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.
27 And this is[f] my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.”[g]

28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, 29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable. 30 Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, 31 so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now[h] receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you. 32 For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.

Revelation is very much misunderstood by a vast amount of people. As is other scripture.

Here is the truth:

The Book of Revelation Was Written Before AD 70

And your point is? The Bible is a whole and you can't stick your head in a hole and ignore it all. How many miracles have you personally witnessed? How many healings? What do you see as your purpose on Earth?

Your author is one who believes: Preterism is a Christian eschatological view that interprets some (partial preterism) or all (full preterism) prophecies of the Bible as events which have already happened.

I'm not in way shape or form a believer in "Preterism" and I have been a Christian as long as he has. Some prophecies have been fulfilled however their are many that have not. For instance: I have not seen the Mount Of Olives split into which is to happen after Jesus' Second Coming. I like my old theology professor's saying that too many people take verses out of context as pretexts to prove their preconceived notions. We have to check verses against other Bible verses and in context.

Zechariah 14:1-11
1A day of the Lord is coming, Jerusalem, when your possessions will be plundered and divided up within your very walls.

2I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. 3Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle. 4On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. 5You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake a in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

6On that day there will be neither sunlight nor cold, frosty darkness. 7It will be a unique day—a day known only to the Lord—with no distinction between day and night. When evening comes, there will be light.

8On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it east to the Dead Sea and half of it west to the Mediterranean Sea, in summer and in winter.

9The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.

10The whole land, from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah. But Jerusalem will be raised up high from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses, and will remain in its place. 11It will be inhabited; never again will it be destroyed. Jerusalem will be secure.

And your point is? The Bible is a whole and you can't stick your head in a hole and ignore it all. How many miracles have you personally witnessed? How many healings? What do you see as your purpose on Earth?

Those questions are irrelevant. Read my link. It may open your eyes to the truth in Revelation / scripture.

I read your link an I totally reject the reasoning, logic, theology, and Preterism as a Christian eschatological view.

Ahh...So you do not believe that Ezekiel chapters 38-40 prophesy of the events that are to take place during a future to us 1000 year reign of a physical Christ from that physical temple on earth?

I'm not in way shape or form a believer in "Preterism"

Do you believe this?:
Hebrews 1:1-2
1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

Or do you believe this?:
Acts 2:14-17
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Or do you believe this?:
1 Corinthians 10:11
11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

Or do you believe this?:
1 John 2:18
18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.

Any Christian who affirms any of the above passages are true and correct as written, is preterist, for only preterists believe the Last Hour, of the Last Days, at the ends of the ages, were underway in the first century as these and many other scriptures plainly teach.

All Christians are preterist.
We only vary by degree.
