Does God listen to and answer all prayers? Or does he only listen to the prayers of Christians? Obviously an unbeliever praying the sinners prayer God listens to but what prayers if any does God not listen to? I'm asking because there are millions if not hundreds of millions of people who believe in God and pray to God everyday. Many of them not Christians. Which of those prayers does God listen to and answer?

For those who are not saved yet only those prayers that they will call out for salvation "out their repentant heart".
Otherwise these people are walking without God's hand of blessing upon their lives.

Sin also puts up a barrier between the believer and God until it is repented of and the relationship restored.

Yes, God listens to and answers the prayers of all. The only problem is, most dont know how to pray. Therefore we all pray when we intend not to pray, and dont pray when we are trying to pray.....
With all do respect, God doesn't answer the prayers of the unsaved friend. There is a barrier between them and our all holy God. They must repent and accept Christ and become washed

If God listens to all prayers than why does he not answer every prayer? Its because it isn't in his will I can answer the question. God only answers the prayers that are in his will. But what is Gods will?

It only seems like God only answers the prayers of his chosen people. Which would make one think that he only listens to the prayers of his chosen people too. Unless I'm missing something here...

Good Day,

I do not know for sure as scripture is silent on this for people whom are not the adopted children of God (unregenerate people). They may pray to a god, but not the self defining self identifying creator of all things.

I think the sinners pray (as a means of salvation) is a fallacy that is not scriptural in any way.

God does listen and does hear the cries of his own children and has sent God the Spirit to assist them in that part of their live, and he is effective in his duty to ensure effectual prayer for those whom God has adopted as his own.

Remember No is a valid answer, we may not like it but none the less.

In Him,

Bill

I guess no one can be saved then......since we were all born in sin? I guess only those born saved can talk to God...... ever? Or have you made exceptions or loopholes for cases that your theory cant support.

You hear and answer your family whether they are doing good or bad.....God does as well. He doesnt stop the rain for the unjust.

But thanks for sharing what you would do, If you were God........however, it is important to not attribute our own thoughts, to the thoughts of the living God.

Also, this view is understandable from those who believe that God can answer "No" by not responding at all. And for those who believe this......why cant we also say that God does answer the sinner....but always say "No?"

I already answered this question in my original quote. Most are not taught how to pray, and most assume they are doing it right and therefore, find other reasons for their prayers not being answered....most notably "God answered and His answer was "No"," or "It wasnt His Will."

God always answers and hears, and his answer is always "Be it unto you as you believe."

"And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."

Not some things......No Ifs... All things and ye Shall...

I don't know how he views non-christians praying. But i think if helping them could in any way bring them a little closer to accepting the true religion, he would. Like I was a Buddhist for a couple years, and i might not have taken dedicated spirituality seriously if not for that experience. We learn so much from mistakes.

He hears the cry of the repentant heart. That is the call for salvation and how we become His people. But He is not hearing the prayer of the unsaved and unrighteous because He is all Holy and cannot be in the presence of sin. After we receive the righteous covering of Christ, Then we access to the Holy of Holies

Reread my first post. He always hears the prayer for salvation.
I agree.. Freedom from sickness, debt, pain, stress......etc.. are all forms of salvation. And God does hear those prayers.

"I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."

"The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence."

Note that what you believe is true for you only, and those who believe you as well. It doesnt make it The truth, or universally true.......just like your belief in your own salvation, does nothing for those who dont believe what you say......

If we can only apply this to prayer.....we would never hear a "No" again.....

I don't think Scotty meant that. Obviously God listens to people praying the sinners prayer. Because God promises to cast no one out who comes to him in faith (John 6:37). People who come to Christ are among Gods chosen people. The question is whether or not he listens to everyone or of he only listens to his chosen people. Scripture is silent on this issue. It seems like in OT times God only listened to the prayers of the Jews. Because only the Jews seeked and worshipped him in truth. All other people alive at the time worshipped and sought after false gods.

Yes, he does, hear and answer, just that sometimes the answer is no... or no for a time...

God Bless!

If God listens to all prayers than why does he not answer every prayer? Its because it isn't in his will I can answer the question. God only answers the prayers that are in his will. But what is Gods will?

A. "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."

B. "If you love me, keep my commandment."
...
"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you."

God's will for the Body of Christ and every member of the Body is related to these two things. Each of us has a fragment of these two things to perform as members of His Body.

When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

The prayers that lead to accomplishing our personal fragments of the Lord's mission are the prayers that God answers.

Who serves as a soldier at his own expense?

A soldier in the military has all his needs met by the resources of the commander. That's not because the soldier is such an awesome dude, but because the soldier has the commander's mission to accomplish, and therefore the commander meets the soldier's needs so that the soldier can accomplish the commander's mission.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Inasmuch as nonbelievers have no part of the mission of the Body of Christ, a nonbeliever would never be praying to accomplish the mission of the Body of Christ.

Proverbs 15:29
The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

I forgot that verse existed. Thanks that answers my question quite well.
