[Re: Revelation 6:16]

They called out: Hide us from the wrath of the Lamb – People will dive for cover and most will survive, as they see this disaster approaching. The main mass of a CME takes 24 hours to arrive on earth. Isaiah 2:19, Isaiah 28:21-22, Jeremiah 25:38, Luke 23:30

Regarding Isaiah 2:19, note that the Day of the Lord in Isaiah 2:10-21 has to begin at the Lord Jesus Christ's future, Second Coming, not at the start of the future Tribulation of Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and Matthew 24. For during the second half of the Tribulation, it is Satan (the dragon) and his human son the Antichrist (the individual-man aspect of Revelation's "beast") who will be exalted by the world (Revelation 13:4-18, Revelation 12:9), not YHWH, which would contradict "YHWH alone shall be exalted in that day" (Isaiah 2:17).

Also, during the second half of the Tribulation, the world will worship the ultimate idol, the image of the Antichrist (Revelation 13:14-15), which would contradict that in that day "the idols he [YHWH] shall utterly abolish" (Isaiah 2:18).

So the people hiding in the rocks at Jesus Christ's future, Second Coming (Isaiah 2:19-21) has to be a separate instance from the people hiding in the rocks at one point during only the first stage of the future Tribulation (Revelation 6:15-16). It is not like people can hide in rocks only one time. Some people did it way back in 1 Samuel 13:6, for example. And Hosea 10:8b refers to the fall of Samaria in 722 BC (Hosea 10:7-8). And Luke 23:30 can include reference to the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD (Luke 23:28-30). So Revelation 6:16 can be just one more instance, years before Jesus' Second Coming in Isaiah 2:10-21, where "the glory of his majesty" is the same as in Matthew 24:30, at the Second Coming.

-

Regarding Isaiah 28:21-22, note that Isaiah 28:22b could refer to the destruction of Judah (Isaiah 28:14) by the Babylonians in 586 BC. For in Isaiah 28:22b the original Hebrew word (H0776) translated as the "earth" can be translated as the "land" (Isaiah 6:12).

-

Regarding Jeremiah 25:38, note that its context of Jeremiah 25:30-38 could refer to Jesus Christ's future, Second Coming. For compare the shout and treading of Jeremiah 25:30b with the Second-Coming shout and treading of 1 Thessalonians 4:16 and Revelation 19:15b. And compare the giving of the wicked to the sword in Jeremiah 25:31b with the Second-Coming giving of the wicked to the sword by Jesus Christ Himself in Revelation 19:21.

-

Regarding Luke 23:30, see the comment regarding it in post #140 above.

[Re: Revelation 6:17]

For the great Day of the Lord has come and who can stand? Deuteronomy 32:22, Ezekiel 7:7, Zephaniah 1:14-18, Joel 1:15.

See the "volcano" part of post #45 above for how the speakers of Revelation 6:17 could be mistaken.

Regarding Deuteronomy 32:22, see the comments regarding it in post #139 above.

Regarding Ezekiel 7:7, the original Hebrew word (H1906) translated as "the sounding again of" can mean "the shout". And the Hebrew word (H2022) translated as "the mountains" can mean just that; or, it can mean the "hills" (Isaiah 7:25). This could be figurative of leaders in Israel who have undergone promotion to high office. That is, its leaders will no longer shout in victory, for the land of Israel will be conquered and occupied by foreign forces.

Regarding Zephaniah 1:14-18, see the "Zephaniah 1:14" part of post #45 above.

Regarding Joel 1:15, note that it could refer to an ancient day of the Lord, like, for example, the ancient day of the Lord in Jeremiah 46:2,10. For Joel 1:15's context of Joel 1:18-20 could refer to an ancient, severe drought, and resulting wildfires, which affected the Israelites in their land.

[Re: Revelation 6:17]

This is the great Day of the Lord’s vengeance and wrath, prophesied over 100 times throughout the Bible, it is this terrible event that enables the establishment of a One World Government.

Note that the future Day of the Lord (Christ) (2 Thessalonians 2:2) will not begin until the Lord Jesus Christ's Second Coming (1 Corinthians 1:7-8; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10), which will not occur until Revelation 19:7 to 20:6, "immediately after" the future Tribulation of Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and Matthew 24 (Matthew 24:29-31; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8), which is when the rapture (the gathering together) of the Church will occur (Matthew 24:29-31; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8, Revelation 19:7 to 20:6).

But those who took heed of the warnings, Isaiah 26:20-21, took shelter and at the same time called to the Lord for protection, Acts 2:21, 1 Peter 1:5, Psalms 68:1-3, Joel 2:32 & 3:16 and will receive the great blessings the Lord has for His faithful Christian people.

Regarding Isaiah 26:20-21, see the comments regarding Isaiah 26:20 in post #139 above.

Regarding Acts 2:21, note that it, like Joel 2:32a, is a present reality for Christians (Romans 10:13), whether Jews or Gentiles (Romans 10:12).

Regarding 1 Peter 1:5, it refers to the "salvation ready to be revealed in the last time", which is ultimate salvation, as opposed to initial (current) salvation. Christians will obtain ultimate salvation only "if" they continue in the faith to the end (Hebrews 3:6,12,14, Colossians 1:23).

Regarding Psalms 68:1-3, it refers to what will happen at Jesus Christ's future, Second Coming (2 Thessalonians 1:7-10).

Regarding Joel 2:32 & 3:16, see the comments regarding Joel 2:32 above in this post. Joel 3 might refer to the Gog/Magog event after the future Millennium, and then blend into the subsequent New Earth and New Jerusalem.

Revelation 18:9
and shall be lamenting<2799> and shall be wailing over Her the kings of the land, the ones with Her fornicating and indulging, whenever they may be observing the smoke of the fireing of Her

The Temple now presented little more than a heap of ruins ; and the Roman army as in triumph on the event, came and reared their ensigns against a fragment of the eastern gate . . .

Note that while the corrupt aspects of first century AD Jerusalem (as of all other cities of all times) are included in what Revelation's symbolic "Babylon" in Revelation chapters 17-18 represents, it represents much more than just the corrupt aspects of first century AD Jerusalem. For first century AD Jerusalem just by itself did not reign over the kings of the earth (Revelation 17:18). Nor was first century AD Jerusalem the only place where people bought merchandise (Revelation 18:11). Nor had first century AD Jerusalem just by itself corrupted the entire world (Revelation 18:3). Nor had first century AD Jerusalem been continuously supported by the empires of fallen mankind throughout history (Revelation 17:9-10). Instead, Revelation's symbolic "Babylon" represents all of fallen mankind's corrupt political (Revelation 17:18), economic (Revelation 18:11), and religious (Revelation 18:24) systems throughout the earth (Revelation 18:3) and throughout history (Revelation 17:9-10).

(See the "Babylon" part of post #24 above)

In Revelation 11:8 and Revelation 16:19a, the great city is Jerusalem, where Jesus Christ was crucified. But in Revelation 21:10 the great city is New Jerusalem, which is now in heaven. And in Revelation 14:8, Revelation 17:18, and Revelation 18:10-21, the great city is the symbolic (and worldwide) harlot/city of Babylon. When it is destroyed, it will be found no more at all (Revelation 18:21), forever (Revelation 19:3), unlike Jerusalem, which was found again after its only-temporary destruction in 70 AD.

“Zion shall be plowed like a field,
Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins,
And the mountain of the temple[fn]
Like the bare hills of the forest.”

Note that the Micah 3:12 prophecy quoted in Jeremiah 26:18 (like the prophecy by Jeremiah himself in Jeremiah 22:6-7, for example) was fulfilled in 586 BC, at the hands of the Babylonians.

Neither in history before 70 AD, nor in history after 70 AD including WWII, are found atrocities visited upon the Jews which compare to those of 70 AD itself.

One appalling example is that of mass crucifixions. There are no documented examples on the scale of those of 70 AD at any other time in Jewish history.

Note that crucifixion does not have to be part of the unprecedented nature of the future Tribulation of Matthew 24 and Revelation chapters 6 to 18, as stated in Matthew 24:21. But the Tribulation will include the unprecedented atrocity of the mass beheadings of Biblical Christians by the future Antichrist, the individual-man aspect of Revelation's "beast" (Revelation 20:4-6).

And Revelation chapters 11 to 14 show from four different angles the same, literal, 3.5 years (Revelation 11:2-3, Revelation 12:6,14, Revelation 13:5-18, Revelation 14:9-13) of the future Antichrist's unprecedented worldwide reign (Revelation 13:4-18), which will occur after the never-fulfilled Revelation chapters 6 to 10 and before the never-fulfilled Revelation chapters 15 to 21. His reign will legally end at the future Tribulation's seventh trumpet (Revelation 11:15).

Immediately after the tribulation....sun shall be darkened...the stars...fall...

/6th seal events

Note that Revelation 6:12-13 and Matthew 24:29-31 are two different sets of events. For Revelation 6:12-13 will occur during only the first stage of the future Tribulation of Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and Matthew 24, whereas Matthew 24:29-31 (like Revelation 19:7-21, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8, and 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17) will occur immediately after the Tribulation (Matthew 24:29). Also, when Revelation 6:12-13 occurs, the moon's light will appear blood-red, whereas when Matthew 24:29 occurs, the moon's light will not be seen at all. There will also be one point between the time of Revelation 6:12-13 and the time of Matthew 24:29 when the moon's light temporarily will not be seen at all, during one-third of the night (Revelation 8:12).

Also, the sun temporarily appearing darkened in Revelation 6:12-13 will be only the first time during the Tribulation that something like that will happen. For it will happen again during the fourth trumpet (part of the Tribulation's second stage), for one-third of the day (Revelation 8:12), and then again during the fifth trumpet (Revelation 9:2), and then again during the fifth vial (Revelation 16:10), part of the Tribulation's fourth and final stage, the third stage being the literal 3.5-years of the future Antichrist's worldwide reign (which time period is shown from four different angles in Revelation chapters 11 to 14). Also, what will appear like "stars" falling from the sky in Revelation 6:12-13 will be only the first time during the Tribulation that something like that will happen. For subsequently, during the third trumpet, what will appear like a star will fall from the sky (Revelation 8:10-11), and then again during the fifth trumpet (Revelation 9:1). And then again, mid-tribulation, what will appear like stars will descend from the sky (Revelation 12:4).

God shows His face in the time of the 6th seal.

Note that the "face of him that sitteth on the throne" part of Revelation 6:16 is not the world actually seeing the face of God sitting on His throne in the third heaven (Revelation 4:2), or the world seeing Jesus Christ on His white horse at His future, Second Coming (Revelation 19:11), but rather the world expressing its fear of dying during or immediately after the sixth seal cataclysm. For seeing the face of God means death (Exodus 33:20).

With crucifixion as the most cruel form of torment and death, which our Lord endured for us, any future tribulation would have to include mass crucifixions on a scale exceeding those of 70 AD, in order to fulfill Christ's declaration in Matthew 24:21:

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

For no tribulation is greater than, or surpasses the atrocity of, crucifixion, for cruelty and suffering. It far exceeds the cruelty and suffering of any “unprecedented atrocity” of beheading.

Or do you believe that Christ's suffering by crucifixion was not as great as would have been His suffering by an “unprecedented atrocity” of beheading?

That would be an untenability.

But the multitudes of believers within the Church through the ages to this time who have recognized the historical fulfillment of Christ's clear prophecy, have recognized that the unparalleled tribulation of the mass crucifixions during that period is one of the confirmations of that fulfillment.

Note that the future Day of the Lord (Christ) (2 Thessalonians 2:2) will not begin until the Lord Jesus Christ's Second Coming
The great tribulation ends in the 6th seal...the moon becomes blood before the day of the LORD begins.
You are both guilty of shuffling Revelation.
The sequence of the Seals, Trumpets and Bowls, is inviolate and to move them around invokes the curse of Rev 22:18-19.
You both, and most Church members as well; have a very confused and errant view of what God has planned for His people in the last few years of this era.
It's a shame, but God seems to want it that way and nothing I can post from the truth of the prophetic Word, has much effect. Maybe I help you to think a bit more about it all and to realize that other Christians see things differently.
At least, when the Day comes, THEN the eyes of the blinded will be opened and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. Isaiah 29:18 & 23-24, Isaiah 32:3-4, Isaiah 35:4-5

Yea, crucifixion is not a desirable way to die.
Speaking of which, notice Jesus says the Jewish rulers would be crucifying those sent by Jesus.
We know that it was the Romans that crucified criminals, not them.
Now I look up the greek words in a concordance to see where else they are used:

Strong's Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon

Matthew 23:
34 ‘Because of this, behold! I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes,
and of them ye shall be killing<615> and crucifying<4717>,
and of them ye shall be scourging<3146> in your synagogues<4864>,
and shall be pursuing/persecuting<1377> from city to city;

Matthew 23, Mark 15 and Luke use #4717 in their Gospels concerning Jesus

Matthew 20:19 -
And they shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify<4717> him:
and the third day he shall rise again.

And behold! It is used 1 time in Revelation.

Revelation 11:8
And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great City, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt,
where also our Lord was crucified<4717>

Matthew 23:
34 ‘Because of this, behold! I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes,
and of them ye shall be killing<615> and crucifying<4717>,

Matthew 16:21
From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed<615>, and be raised the third day.

1 Thessalonians 2:15
who killed<615> both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God and are contrary to all men,

James uses an even harsher word:

James 5:6
Ye condemn, ye Murder<5407> the Righteous-One, not He is resisting to Ye.

I view them in that Great City, Jerusalem in Revelation:

Revelation 9:21
And not they reform/repent out of their Murders<5408>, nor out from their sorceries,...........

How many times do you think men hide in the rocks, or the heaven departs as a scroll, or the stars of heaven fall?

They each happen only one time in all of Revelation.

But note that other books show things which are not in Revelation.

vinsight4u said in post #148:

The great tribulation ends before the stars fall.

That's right with regard to Matthew 24:29, but not with regard to Revelation 6:13, which will be part of only the first stage of the future Tribulation of Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and Matthew 24. See the "chronological" part of post #63 above.

vinsight4u said in post #148:

Isaiah 34 and Isaiah 2 both show that the day of His wrath has started by the time of the other two events.

Isaiah 34 will not be fulfilled until the future, Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15), after the future Millennium (Revelation 20:7-15). See the "Isaiah 34" part of post #139 above.

Isaiah 2:10-21 will not be fulfilled until Jesus Christ's future, Second Coming. See the "Isaiah 2:10" part of post #141 above.

vinsight4u said in post #148:

It will be the day of the Lord when heaven and earth shakes...and heaven departs as a scroll.

Revelation 6 won't be the Day of the Lord, because the latter will not start until the Second Coming (1 Corinthians 1:7-8). See the "2 Thessalonians 2:2" part of post #141 above. And there is no Second Coming in Revelation 6. Instead, the former doesn't occur until much later, in Revelation 19.

vinsight4u said in post #148:

That is the same day the church is not in darkness to. She will be leaving when the day of the Lord comes.

What do you mean by "leaving"?

Do you mean that the rapture will take Christians all the way into the third heaven (of 2 Corinthians 12:2b)? If so, note that nothing in the Bible requires that Christians will be raptured any higher than the clouds of the sky (the first heaven) to hold a meeting in the air with Jesus Christ at His future, Second Coming (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17). After that meeting, in which the Church will be judged by Jesus (Psalms 50:3-5, cf. Mark 13:27), and the obedient part of the Church will be married to Jesus (Revelation 19:7, Matthew 25:1-13), the obedient part of the Church will come back down from the sky (the first heaven) with Jesus (Revelation 19:15-21) to physically reign on the earth with Him for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:4-6, Revelation 5:10, Revelation 2:26-29). After the 1,000 years and subsequent events (Revelation 20:7-15, Ezekiel chapters 38-39) the obedient part of the Church will then live on a New Earth, as in a new surface for the earth, with God the Father and Jesus in the literal city of New Jerusalem (Revelation chapters 21-22).

--

There are three literal heavens (2 Corinthians 12:2b). The first heaven is the sky, the atmosphere, in which the birds fly (Genesis 1:20b). The second heaven is outer space, where the sun, moon, and stars reside (Deuteronomy 4:19). Where God resides is the third heaven (2 Corinthians 12:2b, Revelation 4:1-2). And so it is beyond outer space, in the sense of it being in a higher (a fourth) spatial dimension. And it is a physical place. For Jesus Christ ascended there in His physical resurrection body (Acts 1:9-11, Luke 24:39). And the apostle Paul said that he could have visited there in his mortal, physical body (2 Corinthians 12:2). Also, Elijah and Enoch were taken up there in their mortal, physical bodies (2 Kings 2:11, Genesis 5:24, Hebrews 11:5). And God's future, Two Witnesses will be taken up there in their mortal, physical bodies (Revelation 11:11-12).

In the third heaven there is currently a literal city, 1,500 miles cubed (Revelation 21:16), called New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:2), the heavenly Jerusalem (Hebrews 12:22), the Jerusalem which is above (Galatians 4:26), and God the Father's house (John 14:2, Revelation 21:2-3). In the future, God will create a New Earth (a new surface for the earth) and a New Heaven (a new first heaven/atmosphere for the earth) (Revelation 21:1). And then God will come down in New Jerusalem from the third heaven to live with Christians on the New Earth (Revelation 21:2-3, Revelation 3:12b). It is New Jerusalem which has the literal pearly gates and streets of gold (Revelation 21:21) which Christians ascribe to heaven. So what Christians think of as heaven, in the sense of living in bliss with God, will eventually be on the New Earth.

Currently, the third heaven is where paradise is (2 Corinthians 12:2,4). And paradise is where obedient Christians go when they die (Luke 23:43,46). So obedient Christians go to the third heaven when they die. Also, paradise is where the literal tree of life is (Revelation 2:7). And the tree of life is in New Jerusalem (Revelation 22:2). So when obedient Christians go to paradise, they go to New Jerusalem.

The earth's third heaven could be high above the north pole. Compare the connection between heaven and the north in Isaiah 14:13, KJV. Regarding what we today call "the northern lights", even though they can be explained by physics, they could still point to the location of the glory of the earth's third heaven. And Psalm 48:2's reference to the north could refer to the location of New Jerusalem in heaven.

vinsight4u said in post #148:

The two witnesses were already slain, and rise in the 6th seal.

Note that nothing says or requires that.

Also, the future raising of God's Two Witnesses' physical bodies from the dead (Revelation 11:11) will not occur at the Church's resurrection into physical immortality at Jesus Christ's future, Second Coming (1 Corinthians 15:21-23,51-53), but will be like, for example, the past resuscitation of the physical bodies of Lazarus and Tabitha (John 11:43-44, Acts 9:36-40). And the future, physical ascension of the Two Witnesses into heaven (Revelation 11:12) will not occur at the Church's physical rapture at the Second Coming (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17), but will be like, for example, the past ascension of the physical bodies of Elijah and Enoch into heaven (2 Kings 2:11, Hebrews 11:5).

For the Two Witnesses' physical resuscitation and ascension will occur at one point during the future Tribulation of Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and Matthew 24 as part of the second woe/sixth trumpet (Revelation 11:14, Revelation 9:12-13), before the Tribulation's seventh trumpet sounds (Revelation 11:15). And then out of the seventh trumpet's heavenly-temple opening will come the seven plagues of the seven vials of God's wrath (Revelation 11:19, Revelation 15:5 to 16:1), the Tribulation's final stage (Revelation 16). But the Church's physical resurrection into immortality and then its being raptured (gathered together to Jesus) will not occur until Jesus Christ's future, Second Coming (1 Corinthians 15:21-23,52-53; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; 2 Thessalonians 2:1, Matthew 24:30-31), which will not occur until after the Tribulation (Matthew 24:29-31; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8, Revelation 19:7 to 20:6), after the seventh-and-last vial has been completed (Revelation 16:17,19, Revelation 19:2 to 20:6).

Also, God's future, Two Witnesses, like Elijah and Enoch did (and also like the apostles Paul and John each did, temporarily, at one point during their lifetime: 2 Corinthians 12:2,7, Revelation 4:1-2), will ascend all the way into the third heaven (Revelation 11:12). But the Church will be raptured only as high as the clouds of the sky (the first heaven), to hold a meeting in the air with Jesus Christ at His Second Coming (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17).

At that meeting, Jesus Christ will judge everyone in the Church (Psalms 50:3-5, cf. Mark 13:27) by their works (2 Corinthians 5:10, Romans 2:6-8, Luke 12:45-48, Matthew 25:19-30). And then Jesus will marry in the clouds the obedient part of the Church (Revelation 19:7-8, Matthew 25:1-12), those in the Church (of all times) who "overcame" to the end (Revelation 3:5, Revelation 2:26). They will then mount white horses and come back down from the sky (the first heaven) with Jesus (Revelation 19:14) as He defeats the Antichrist (the individual-man aspect of Revelation's "beast") and the world's armies (Revelation 19:15-21). Jesus will then make the marriage supper of Revelation 19:9 for the physically-resurrected and married obedient part of the Church in the earthly Jerusalem (Isaiah 25:6-9; 1 Corinthians 15:54). Jesus and the obedient part of the Church will then physically reign on the earth for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:4-6, Revelation 5:10, Revelation 2:26-29).

This makes him the little horn of Daniel 7 and Rev. 13 - he speaks great things.
He has 42 months, and it not around, but dead, before the time of the first vial is even poured.

Note that that is not the case, for he will be cast alive into the lake of fire (Revelation 19:20) after the last vial is poured out (Revelation 19:2).

That is, only after the destruction of Revelation's symbolic (and worldwide) "Babylon" at the seventh vial, the final event of the future Tribulation (Revelation 16:17,19, Revelation 19:2) of Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and Matthew 24, will Jesus Christ return from heaven and defeat the future Antichrist (the individual-man aspect of Revelation's "beast"). Also, this will be the same return when Jesus will rapture (gather together) and marry the Church (Revelation 19:7 to 20:6, Matthew 24:29-31; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8).

Note that Revelation 19:20 refers to both the future Antichrist and his False Prophet, who is the beast from the sea (Revelation 13:11-16, Revelation 19:20, Revelation 16:13). See also the "False Prophet" parts of post #53 above.

With crucifixion as the most cruel form of torment and death, which our Lord endured for us, any future tribulation would have to include mass crucifixions on a scale exceeding those of 70 AD, in order to fulfill Christ's declaration in Matthew 24:21 . . .

Note that Matthew 24:21 is not referring to the manner of death, but to the amount of death (Matthew 24:22).

That is, in our future, things will get so bad on the earth that Jesus Christ said that if the allotted time for the future Tribulation had not been shortened, no flesh would survive on the earth (Matthew 24:22). Because of Satan's and the future Antichrist's eventual, intentional (and probably nuclear) destruction of civilization worldwide (Isaiah 14:17, Revelation 17:16, Revelation 16:19) at the end of the Tribulation, and then Jesus Himself's subsequent killing of even more of sinful humanity at His Second Coming (Revelation 19:21, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8, Isaiah 66:16), a mere one-tenth of humanity may be left alive to enter Jesus' Millennial Kingdom on the earth (Isaiah 6:11-13, Zechariah 14:16-21).

The fact that humanity cannot rid itself of its nuclear weapons shows how evil humanity is, which could result in its self-inflicted nuclear destruction.

Regarding Isaiah 29:18 & 23-24, note that those verses, like all of Isaiah 29:17-24, can refer to the future Millennium (of Revelation 20:4-6).

Regarding Isaiah 32:3-4, note that those verses, like all of Isaiah 32:1-8, can also refer to the future Millennium.

Regarding Isaiah 35:4-5, note that that passage, like all of Isaiah 35:1-10, refers to the future Millennium.

LLoJ's featured threads:
"DAYS OF VENGEANCE" Isaiah 61:2 and Luke 21:22

Regarding Luke 21:22, note that its context of Luke 21:20-28 was not fulfilled in 70 AD.

For when Jesus Christ says: "ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies" (Luke 21:20), He is referring to the first part of Daniel 11:31: "And arms shall stand on his part". And when Jesus says: "the desolation" in Luke 21:20, He is referring to the "abomination of desolation" part of Daniel 11:31, just as in Matthew 24:15, He is referring to the "abomination of desolation" part of Daniel 11:31.

So Luke 21:20-23 is not referring to 70 AD, nor (as is sometimes claimed) to the pillaging of Jerusalem which will occur at the very end of the future Tribulation of Revelation chapters 6 to 18, Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Mark 13, right before Jesus Christ's future, Second Coming to save Jerusalem in Zechariah 14. Instead, Luke 21:20-23 is referring to what will happen at the midpoint of the future Tribulation, when the future Antichrist will antitypically fulfill Daniel 11:31 at the start of his future, literal 3.5-year worldwide reign (Revelation 13:4-18), during which 3.5 years, Jerusalem will be trodden down by the non-Christian Gentiles (Revelation 11:2b), which future treading down is what Luke 21:24 is referring to.

See also the "Luke 21:24" part of post #115 above. And see post #55 above, and the "Luke 21:25" part of post #140 above.

-

Also, Luke 21:28 shows that the Church's rapture will be at Jesus Christ's future, Second Coming (in Luke 21:27). For the rapture will be the time of obedient Christians' ultimate redemption (Romans 8:23-25; 1 Corinthians 15:21-23,51-53; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18).

Luke 21:27 refers to the same Second Coming of Jesus Christ as Matthew 24:30, Revelation 19:7 to 20:6, and Zechariah 14:3-21, which will not occur until "immediately after" (Matthew 24:29) the future Tribulation of Matthew 24, Luke 21, Mark 13, and Revelation chapters 6 to 18, including after a future pillaging of Jerusalem which will occur at the very end of the Tribulation, right before Jesus Himself returns and saves the Jews in Jerusalem, destroys the world's armies, which came against Jerusalem, and sets up the capital of the Millennial aspect of His Kingdom in Jerusalem (Zechariah 14, Micah 4:1-4).

So Luke 21:28 refers only to the signs which will accompany Jesus Christ's future, Second Coming (Luke 21:25-27, Matthew 24:29-30), not to the events which will occur during the preceding Tribulation (Luke 21:8-24), which has never been fulfilled.

Note that Matthew 24:21 is not referring to the manner of death, but to the amount of death (Matthew 24:22).

It refers not to amount, but to intensity and its degrees, in which crucifixion is the greatest for suffering and death.

From BibleHub:

3173 [e]
megalē
μεγάλη ,
great
Adj-NFS

From Strong's:

d. used of intensity and its degrees:
of other things that distress: ἀνάγκη, Luke 21:23; (θλῖψις, Matthew 24:21;

Matthew 24
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The mass crucifixions of 70 AD were unprecedented to that time ("not since the beginning of the world to this time"), nor surpassed since ("nor ever shall be"), one of the confirmations that Christ's predictions referred to that period in history.

[Re: Matthew 24:21]

It refers not to amount, but to intensity and its degrees . . .

Note that degrees can involve amounts. For example, an oven which is at 300 degrees has a greater amount of heat than an oven of the same size which is at 200 degrees. Similarly, the greater amount of heat could be referred to as a greater intensity of heat.

Also, note that the original Greek word (megas: G3173) translated in Matthew 24:21 as "great" simply means "big" (Strong's Greek Dictionary). So "great tribulation" in Matthew 24:21 means "big tribulation". And Matthew 24:21b means that it will be the biggest of all time.

It will be the biggest of all time in the sense of Matthew 24:22. That is, if the future Tribulation were allowed to go on indefinitely, no flesh would survive on the earth.

Compare also Revelation 6:8. For the future death of one-fourth of the world (Revelation 6:8) will be a one-time event, just as the subsequent death of one-third of the world (Revelation 9:18) will be a one-time event. Together, this will mean the death of one-half of the world, the death of some four billion people, and during only the first half of the future Tribulation of Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and Matthew 24.

That is not from Strong's.

Instead, Strong's says:

3173. megas, meg'-as (includ. the prol. forms, fem. megale, plural megaloi, etc.; comp. also 3176, 3187); big (lit. or fig., in a very wide application):-- (+ fear) exceedingly, great(-est), high, large, loud, mighty, + (be) sore (afraid), strong, X to years.

Also, regarding your source (which is not Strong's), why did you skip to its "d." definition?

What is its "a." definition?

Note that degrees can involve amounts.

The word "amount" does not appear in the definitions. By "amounts" you presumably mean "number", which is seen in section 1b. The distinction is drawn between "amounts" i.e. "number" in section 1b; and "of other things that distress" in section 1d. Matthew 24:21 appears only in section 1d.

That is not from Strong's

I provided the link. The column heading is "Thayer's Greek Lexicon
STRONGS NT 3173: μέγας".

Also, regarding your source (which is not Strong's), why did you skip to its "d." definition?

As you undoubtedly see, section 1d is the only section in which Matthew 24:21 appears. Matthew 24:21 does not appear in any other section.

Note that Matthew 24:21 makes no reference to crucifixions

If I may be so audacious as to borrow a familiar phrase, "Note that nothing requires that".

The word "great" in Matthew 24:21 is clearly and unmistakably referring to suffering and death, i.e. "things that distress", in the predicted 70 AD tribulation, not to the numbers who would die. The mass crucifixions are a clear and unmistakable graphic reminder of "things that distress".

Matthew 24
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The mass crucifixions of 70 AD were unprecedented to that time ("not since the beginning of the world to this time"), nor surpassed since ("nor ever shall be"), thus being one of the confirmations that Christ's predictions referred to, and were fulfilled in, that period in history.

Preterism is just denial that anything bad is going to happen in their lifetime.
Bad things did happen in 70-135 AD, they happened all throughout history and now, with a world population near maximum, in many areas; way over the capacity of the land to support them, there will; inevitably be some kind of dramatic change.

That worldwide change is well prophesied in our Bibles and saying it is past history, is simply 'head in the sand' attitude.
God doesn't want us to be in the dark about His plans, not knowing and ignoring what He has so comprehensively given to us in our Bibles, is the height of foolishness.
God said: thru His prophet Isaiah 24:1 Beware; The Lord is about to strip the earth, ruin it and make it waste and scatter its inhabitants.

The great and terrible Day of the Lord's fiery wrath is in our future.
We who study the Bible should know what it will be, what will trigger it and what we should do on that Day.
