I apologize for taking advantage of here. I don't know what to do.

Our precious Priest friend and our sweet nuns have asked Ben, Mark (brother-in-law, Erin's hubby), Erin (my sister, the kidney donator) to dinner at the nuns' home to celebrate my recent successful kidney transplant from my sister Erin.

They said to bring nothing, but it is proper to give your hosts gifts. Mark and Erin are bringing a nice permanent small vase of silk pink, red and yellow roses, I was wondering, since they all three visited me in the hospital regularly, maybe a handwritten thank-you note on nice stationery and I found this small marble angel at an antique place. It is quite old, from the 1950s. I'd like to give this.

Do you think that will be correct?

Should I do more?

I love you all and thank you for putting up with me

Emmy - that's a simply lovely idea and I'm sure they would love it. It shows you have given real thought and you appreciate their kindness and support in all that you've gone through in the past and more recent times.

Sounds very nice and very kind of you but if I may suggest you might not want to say that things from the 50's are very old. there may be people there from that time period. lol

Oh I apologize. I'm wrong then, so sorry. The Priest and both nuns are in their 70s. I never meant any offense to age. I knew they liked antiques, so sorry. I am wrong.

The little marble angel is all wrong. I'll go buy something else more appropriate. I'll buy them something nice and much newer. Please forgive my stupidity.

Emmy - give them the little angel - it shows you thought of something they would appreciate. They will also appreciate the handwritten note - so many young people do not think of something like that - in fact some young people have difficulty using a pen to write a note - they are so used to typing or using text speak on a mobile device.

I can go back to the gift shop. They have modern stuff so I will bring them something nice and new, not any antique. I am sorry, they like old things.

Maybe a nice deck of cards with religious symbols? Those are new. They do like to play poker.

I will find something more appropriate. I feel awful for my decision.

So sorry for my interloping. Thank you for putting me in my place. I'm sorry for being so wrong.

Well now I don't know. I have been told the little angel is inappropriate, because it's old. I do plan on the written note but I was told this little angel is all wrong.

It's not wrong - believe me on that. You chose the little angel when you saw it because it appealed to you as something you thought they would appreciate .

Personally I think it far nicer than a deck of cards.

It would be fine. In fact you can't go wrong with almost anything. They will not be upset even if you just show up empty handed. No worries.

They will appreciate those gifts. I always like to bring a nice bottle of wine to dinners if that is something you think is appropriate. If you are worried about sharing alcohol, you can whip up a pitcher of something yummy (like apple cider dolled up) to bring.

Oh thanks!

Okay I feel better. I'll give them the angel and bring a bottle of nice wine.

Also the nun's home has a terrible bathroom sink. It leaks and I seriously know how to replace a faucet.

I'm going to buy a new faucet and put it in. That would drive me absolutely nuts. I wouldn't put up with that in my home. They just have had to put work orders in, get it approved, and that takes forever.

Phooey on that. Thanks all of you! I know what to do now.

God bless you all and thank you all for putting up with me.

All good things
