What do you think God's reason(s) for sharing the Book of Job were?
Being the first book of God's word to mankind it's saying that there's a deadly game of proving God's love and care of humans is not based on humans love of being a fed cow. (which basically satan was saying) Instead the love from humans has a very loyal quality when the desire of life is toward God.What do you think God's reason(s) for sharing the Book of Job were?

His glory. What do you think God's reason(s) for sharing the Book of Job were?
Like Job we in mortal bodies will suffer and lose everything, health, loved ones passing, material goods will breakdown, fade and become of less value every day, until temporary things are lost, dust. What do you think God's reason(s) for sharing the Book of Job were?

What I think Job learnt was that his integrity wasn't enough to get past the dangers that exist. He needed God's righteousness for his life to be effective. All that was his before was replaced but how can children be replaced? The only thing he changed was giving the inheritance due his daughters.
So what was it about? Job's wife? Curse God and die?
It was a vie for the throne that was being dealt with.It was about God and the accusations and insults against Him by Satan, the accuser.
Most assuredly satan uses those closest to another to stab people in the heart, which is what I meant by the reference to Job's wife, which is the same weapon used to stab Jesus and His followers, as the story progresses.Satan's goal was to attempt to use Job to "curse God and die", as a demonstration that Job, who God described below, as the very "weapon" to rail against God.....to "stab God in the heart", so to speak:
"There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil." ~Job 1:1
God knew Job's heart and that his loyalty was to Him, which is what I said in the previous post. Satan only knew that to win the throne was to oust the one left in charge of earth, which before Christ was mankind. The bottom line, is that God already knew Job's heart. Satan didn't. If he did, he never would've entered into this demonstration, using Job, in the first place.
The only one's deterred were the legalistic friends. Satan wasn't defeated until Christ. The ONLY one who was "defeated" here was not God, or Job, but it was Satan, as all of heaven witnessed.
I see no fear of the Lord in the book off Job. Just fear of what satan can do. If there's any mystery involved in the book of Job it would be why God allowed it.A key verse that gives us a glimpse into the "mystery" of Job, and Job's heart for God is this:
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." ~pr 9:10
A mystery is the heart of mankind. Many verses on that. And God ALREADY knew this. He KNEW Job's heart into the very intricacies and furthest recesses of it.
The bottom line, is that Job was the epitome of a living and breathing example of this verse in action.
Job was WISE. And that is because he FEARED God.
This is why God described Job the way He did:
"There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil." ~Job 1:1

It was Job himself that epitomized a man who "feared the Lord", right here:I see no fear of the Lord in the book off Job. Just fear of what satan can do. If there's any mystery involved in the book of Job it would be why God allowed it.
But missing is the point that Job needed to be covered in God's righteousness not his own integrity, hence the stripping away of all that was natural to him to come to the point of accepting God as the one in control.Satan was defeated in his attempt to use Job to "curse God and die".

The reason that God described Job as "perfect and upright" and why he "eschewed evil", is because Job "feared God".
And yes, Satan used Job's wife as a weapon against Job, on top of ev'ry thing else.
But missing is the point that Job needed to be covered in God's righteousness not his own integrity, hence the stripping away of all that was natural to him to come to the point of accepting God as the one in control.
He was. That's why God said this about Job:Job needed to be covered in God's righteousness
I agree it's not about Job. And because it's 'apparently' the first words spoken to mankind it should be given diligent attention. I have to disagree that it's impossible to fear God yet still be self-righteous. And because it's not about Job I think that is what is being demonstrated and why.He was. That's why God said this about Job:
"There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil." ~Job 1:1
It is IMPOSSIBLE to "fear God" and to simultaneously be "self-righteous". God would've/could've NEVER used Job if he was.
The entire scenario in the book of Job was not about "Job".
The short answer: to teach us patience in temptations and sorrows. What do you think God's reason(s) for sharing the Book of Job were?

Self-righteousness is sin.I have to disagree that it's impossible to fear God yet still be self-righteous.
I’ve heard a umber of sermons and teachings in my life based upon the book. What other reason would He need? He has also enlightened my heart to receive personal words concerning life situations. And He can do so by giving instructions from the words of a verse. Words which mayy not even fit the context of the verse, but they still fit the context of my life. What do you think God's reason(s) for sharing the Book of Job were?
Remember too that it was written before the law was given so the friends also contain the seeds of legalism in all their forms. Another outline for God's people. But I'll have more time tonight. G'daySelf-righteousness is sin.
It is not possible to fear God and to simultaneously harbor and glorify sin in one's heart (which is, in essence, "glorifying oneself", rather than God). It's a "slap in the face" and an insult to God, so to speak. And it is the antithesis of a heart that bows its own will to God's will, which is the epitome of "fearing God".
Satan's sin originated in his "will-fullness", which has it's roots in "pride". He "worshiped himself" rather than God.
Job is a wisdom book and it is packed with wisdom. Pages and pages could be written about it.What do you think God's reason(s) for sharing the Book of Job were?
