Halloween is very popular in the secular culture .

It kidnapped the Kids and subconsciously input the values of Satan.

Even the 'Treat or Trick " is very bad. It teaches the Kids to blackmail other people.

Many parents then are kidnapped by the Kids to follow the secular world.

I have to ask

You serve the Kid or you serve' the King'

You serve your son or you serve 'the Son'

When I was a child, Hallowe'en was a harmless children's masquerade. It certainly never taught blackmail.

And Jo Rowling meant her Harry Potter books to be Christian allegories. Did you know that?

Yes its satanic in nature. The maker of HP even said she made the movie loosely based on witchcraft. She claims to be a christian once but often takes jabs at christians and is a pretty immoral person who really shows no sign of being a christian. About the only thing christians say about HP is how its christian based because Harrys like Jesus. Which can be said about movie with a hero. Just because a hero exists doesn't mean its about christians. Deadpool is a "hero" but hes the very opposite of Jesus.

But people will believe what they want. Most kids I've met who love HP act out flying on broomsticks, used magical wands, casting spells. All evil stuff, even if they are just pretending. I don't recall any christians in the bible pretending to cast magic spells...etc.

I said that Rowling was a Christian like Tolkien just the other week and I was laughed at. She's just as much of a Christian as any other Christian author. But yeah she wrote the HP series as Christian allegories.

No magic spells!? What do you call someone walking on water?

And yes Harry Potter is Satan himself

I think the biggest factor is former satanists and witches/warlocks who are now saved are very shocked that christians watch Harry Potter and defend it. To me that says it all. I mean who am I going to believe about it, some christian who makes excuses for it and says its not evil/witchcraft, or actual previous witches, evil who know what they are talking about since they were into the occult.

I'd also point the anger some people show about the subject when defending it really goes to show alot about them and why they would be willing to watch it. People tend to say when someone gets angry about something then its usually because they are feeling guilt from the Holy Spirit. Trust me I know from my past.

Harry Potter is Satan himself... Lol. It is laughable for the Christians who complain about Harry Potter when they read the books and watch the movies of the Lord of the Rings or the Chronicles of Narnia. I guess according to these Christians, these books that have magic, wizards, witches, and magical animals in them are just fine and acceptable as long as the person who wrote the book is a Christian. I once dared a couple of the parents in the church I attend to read the following book after they tried shame me for allowing my own children to read the Harry Potter books. Neither of these parents ever criticized me again after they read the book. They even apologized to me afterward and admitted that they were wrong about the books and wrong to misjudge the books and J.K. Rowling herself.

The book - Looking for God in Harry Potter

"I have met thousands of children now, and not even one time has a child come up to me and said, "Ms. Rowling, I'm so glad I've read these books because now I want to be a witch." They see it for what it is... It is a fantasy world and they understand that completely." - J.K. Rowling

I read that article and unless I missed it, I didn't see one mention of the author reading any of the Harry Potter books for himself. So, in other words, his opinion of the books is biased and moot.

Can you point me to the specific confession of the author that he read the books himself? Thanks.

This thread had a clean up of non-Christian posts and was moved to Christian Philosophy & Ethics from Ethics & Morality. It fits better here as the question is asked of Christians.

Halloween actually came from the Catholic church, not Satan.

Of course there are certain people who would deny a difference between them...

Yes, All Hallows Eve originated from the Catholic Church.

Did you read my last post about former witches/satanists who say HP is very much evil and they are shocked any christian would support it? I'm going to side with the people who dabbled in evil stuff over another christian he thinks anything that is an allegory is christian related.

For example inappropriate content videos tend to have a story. So if I watch inappropriate content where some guy is a superhero, does it means its ok to watch since the guys a hero like Jesus? Of course not.

Because we can turn pretty much everything into "Hey its just like Jesus!" and use it as an excuse to watch/do something evil.

Yes, I did read your last post and I have to take the word of these people (witches or Satanists) with a grain of salt and I question if they actually read the books for themselves. Of course, they are more than entitled to their personal opinions of the books. But I will take the word of the author who actually wrote the books, J.K. Rowling herself. I've read all of the books multiple myself over the last 20 years and the books are no more evil than the Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit or the Chronicles of Narnia. I'm not afraid of reading Harry Potter because there's magic and wizards just as I'm not afraid to read the Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit because there is magic and wizards in these books too.

I'm the mother of five daughters and four sons. I've been reading the Harry Potter books to my children since my oldest son was 5 and he's 25 now. Not one of my children have ever believed that Harry Potter is real OR that have ever expressed any slight hint of desire to practice witchcraft.

I've also been in the Harry Potter fandom for 20 years and I've literally talked to Harry Potter fans from around the world, including other parents (including Christian parents). NOT ONE parent has ever said that their own children turned to witchcraft because they read the Harry Potter books. All of those parents, as well as their children, are smart enough to know that these books are fictional stories, just like every other fiction and fantasy book in the world. And like me, these parents think it is ludicrous to believe that our children will turn to witchcraft because they read Harry Potter.

I think it's ridiculous to even consider the opinion of any Christian or anyone else for that matter when that person has never read the Harry Potter books for themselves. I've debated Harry Potter for 20 years with evangelical Christians, so this debate is nothing new to me. And 8 times out of 10, the Christian who is so adamant against anything Harry Potter changes his or her mind after they read the book I recommended in my first post. They all finally admit that they were wrong about the books.

I suppose everyone should follow their consciences, but I grew up with Grimm's Fairy Tales, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, and all the magnificent children's books of my youth. My children grew up with Peter Pan, Star Wars, Lost in Space even as we studied Shakespeare with its witches and ghosts, who doesn't appreciate "A Christmas Carol" by Dickens and the unlimited imaginative wonders offered to us out of the imagination of gifted and good people. And in the movies we thrilled to Superman, and Wonder Woman, and Rocket Man.

Like you, Halloween was a safe and fun and harmless children's dress up exercise. We said please and thank you for the treats we received in the neighborhood and any 'tricks' were of the pure fun and harmless variety.

The lessons in ALL of it however were of truth, justice, honor, bravery, and good prevailing over evil. Nothing was taught that conflicted with Biblical teachings. Children exposed to such great literature have their minds, imagination, creativity, and inspiration expanded in ways that just don't otherwise happen

And not one of us grew up believing the things we read in those books or saw in the movies or on television are true. I don't believe any of us rejected our Christian faith or abandoned our love of God or embraced any wicked way of life.

And in my opinion, there is no concept in J.K. Rowling's books that would encourage evil or lead a child from God.

Well said. Great post. My husband and I raised our children in the church and we raised them reading the Harry Potter books. And not one of our three oldest children has ever questioned their Christian faith or abandoned their faith because they read Harry Potter. Not one of our youngest children has ever doubted God or the Christian message because they read Harry Potter. All of our children read a variety of fictional books and nothing they have read has ever led them astray from their faith.
